My husband and I were recommended by a family member to the optical doctor at Costco on 192nd. We were both so impressed with Dr. Lewis and his staff. They made sure to call us the day before with a reminder, text us with the link For the necessary paperwork to fill out, and answered any questions. I was also impressed with the technology they have on site. It turns out my husband has two cataracts, which we knew were impacting his vision. However, I was impressed that Dr. Lewis recommended that my husband not get glasses until after having the cataracts removed. He discussed the referral for cataract surgery and who he recommended. The doctor explained things exceptionally well and very clearly. My eyes are fairly weird having had bacterial spinal meningitis many years ago. I have pseudo tumor, a.k.a., my brain thinks it has a brain tumor. Some doctors deal with this information. Well, as did Dr. Lewis. He showed me how my retina are actually crinkled from the brain pressure I have. He also explained that I would need to have a very different type of surgery eventually, and that this is affecting the vision of my left eye far more than my right. This is the most information I have gotten out of any doctor regarding my vision in over 30 years. After this positive experience, both of us agreed that we would keep Dr. Lewis and his staff. I'm really happy that our family member had recommended him. It was also very easy to just go out his door with my prescription and order a regular pair of glasses and sunglasses at the Costco optical center. With $50 off the second pair, I was able to get both pair of glasses for right around $300 , and this included the bifocal lenses that have no line. read more

He is kind, VERY thorough, and takes lots of time to explain my eye care needs. Not impressed. I was a new patient and Dr. Lewis came into the room and didn't even introduce himself. He then asked me how I wanted to bill the appointment. He seemed more concerned with my method of payment and how he could bill me than my actual health. I won't be going back. I want a doctor who cares. read more

Having Dr. Lewis exam my eyes was a pleasure from making the appointment to the end of the procedure. A big change from my experience with the other Costco in our area, so I have NO problem driving several miles more. Dr. Lewis listened and paid attention to specifics of my eye care needs, and his dialogue with me reflected that at every step. He is pleasant, friendly and completely professional. I felt like he gave me the best exam I've had in years. The office is bright, clean, efficiently laid out and has state-of-the-art equipment. Even though I'm a "mature" person, I like knowing that the healthcare professionals I work with keep up to date. Even his prescription forms are easier to read and well formatted. I had an enlightening visit for my eye exam with Dr. Lewis. Instead of having my eyes dilated, they offered a digital X-ray which expresses itself not unlike iridology! I was, or I should say we were able to see any blood clots, tumors, or other abnormalities with this amazing photo. These findings could help identify we're there may be disease elsewhere in the body. Fortunately, my eyes were completely healthy. I know I'm forgetting other important findings with this exam, but I also know it left a lasting impression and a huge step forward from having the eyes dilated! Dr Lewis is by far superior to any ophthalmologist in this area. Don't think for a minute think that you will be getting a better eye exam by going to an MD. That just means they can do surgery. I have been taking my elderly parents to see Dr. Lewis since 2011, and I cannot say enough positive things about him. He is very patient and customer focused, takes him time to explain all relevant details to the patient, and listens carefully in order to assess needs. He also did a free follow up appointment to try and figure what is wrong with my mom's new glasses when she had issues adjusting to her new pair. I always have to translate a little for my parents throughout the exams and his patience and level of care are outstanding. Dr. Lewis has OPTOS, a machine that literally found a rare eye condition that no other optometrist could find with just dilating the eyes. My friend had been going to eye doctors for years but they would dilate his eyes and say they could find nothing wrong, his night blindness, faulty depth perception and other problems were due to aging. I have been going to Dr. Lewis for several years, the OPTOS also shows other health issues that might be going on, like chronic high blood pressure, macular degeneration and cataracts. I told my friend about Dr. Lewis so he made an appointment. When Dr. Lewis saw his photos he told him he had a major problem and the areas affected were the ones my friend had been having problems with for years. Instead of being depressed because he was getting older, my friend felt like he now knew what was actually happening to his eyes. The condition was confirmed by two retinal specialists who wanted copies of the OPTOS photos to compare with their tests. The cost of the test is only $25, which for my friend and I is an inexpensive investment in our health. Highly recommend! read more

I had my first appointment with Dr. Lewis just yesterday. It was a great experience! Dr. Lewis was patient and explained all my options after my initial examination. He was detailed in explaining what I was and was not a good candidate for based on my examination and life style. One surprising new twist was the The Optomap Retinal Exam. I've always had my eyes dilated with traditional drops leaving my eyes "blurred" and uncomfortable for 4-6 hours. This is a non-dilating camera that captures a digital image of the retina. Not only non-invasive, quick and easy it allowed Dr. Lewis to capture images of what's going on behind my eye but also share with me. We moved here 4 years ago...I asked around for recommendations for a good eye dr. Ive always thought I had a difficult prescription because no one seemed to be able to get it right! I would get contacts but couldnt see close up. Nothing worked so I had those ridiculous readers all over my house and car. I also wore readers w my glasses! I had several people recommend this Dr. The fact that he is in Costco is such a plus! I grab groceries after my appt. He is amazing! I sat in his office and told him that I was struggling w all the readers and couldnt see close up w my glasses or contacts. He recommended a contact for my left eye to see close up and a contact for my right eye for distance. I was so impressed w the time he took to just listen to my concerns! He even had this solution that no one had ever mentioned before! He let me wear a pair to try. He didnt want me to buy any boxes until I was sure the prescriptions would work. It did. I am seeing better than I ever have. I even dropped a contact and lost it. His office gave me a sample to replace it so I didnt waste a pair. He goes the extra mile for all his patients. He is less expensive than most eye Drs because being in Costco he isnt paying the crazy overhead they pay. He accepted my vsp insurance as well AND he has a very nice and knowledgable team. I highly recommend Dr Lewis and his team in the Camas Costco! Almost forgot to mention hes quick to hand you a rebate from the contact manufacturers and sometimes Costo to help w the cost of your contacts that you can use even if your insurance pays!
