Not sure what was going on a few years ago based on the older reviews but they're no longer accurate. I've been coming here for 3 years now and have had no issues. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They're fast service. Made an appt on line and they took me right away. The doctor was friendly and efficient. She answered all my questions. The facility is clean and they were cleaning the equipment as they finished each step of my vision check. Able to quickly order new contacts with my insurance through them. My appointment was at 4:15, and I was finished with the exam, ordering more contacts, and out by 4:50. read more

I never had a worse experience in my life. Ordered glasses on 12/5 - kept calling and only got the recorded message that said the glasses were on the way. On 1/5 I went to their store - no glasses, they had no idea where the glasses were or if they were ever coming. I ordered a new pair, they told me they would be in 3 days, 3 days and no glasses. Still no one had any idea where the glasses were. I asked for the manager - they had no manager. Finally on 1/12 I asked for my Money back. No one in that place ever knew anything about anything. I booked appointments for my family and arrived on time and VTO man said the appointments were canceled by Visionworks. The explanation was they book yearly appointments for clients and I informed him I booked them and there was no reason to cancel they had no answers and said they don't have a manager just supervisors when I asked for one. This is the 4th time I have had to visit the store and the staff had an error on my order, yet again. 2 MONTHS and counting. I don't understand how this business is still running. I went here for a contact lens exam. I don't have optometry insurance so I tried to get a cost estimate before the exam; I was told it was not possible to tell me how much the exam would cost, which seemed sketchy. Then, the "doctor" did the whole exam without mentioning that she would not give me a prescription for my current B&L lens, but only wrote a prescription for an esoteric brand that is far more costly and (surprise!) unavailable on the usual websites (1-800-contacts, Warby Parker, etc). Her defense is that they do not carry the B&L lens...which is both ludicrous (why would you not carry the market leading brands?) and irrelevant (I am not looking to buy my lens here, but I see that was the point...give me a prescription that only VisionWorks can fill...without competition). So now, I have to either pay twice as much for the prescribed lens or get another exam somewhere else for my normal lens. This scam was an enormous waste of time and money. read more

Ordered glasses approx 6 months ago and asked 15 times to make sure the warranty is added for len protections, their employees failed to add it and now expect me to come out of pocket. They are rude, ignorant and the quality of product and customer service is disgusting. Save yourself the aggravation and go to any of the competitors, I assure you it wont be any worse. Horrible experience. Extremely deceiving to show up for an appointment and to find out that you are being seen by a tele optical doctor and then sit there for well over an hour with a video on loop "eye exam and prescription in 30 mins or less" to have NO DOCTOR show up. My appointment was at 5:40 PM and I left at 7:00 PM without being seen by a doctor. The staff made numerous attempts to get in contact with any available provider to complete my visit, but the message were ignored. Thankfully the in person staff if the store were super professional, but they should NEVER be hung out to dry with the possibly to having to deal with irate customers because you are attempting to cut costs by not having a doctor on staff, but rather disguising a telehealth visit as an actual in office visit while billing insurance companies the same amount. I will be contacting my insurance company to ensure I wasn't billed for my annual visit and taking my business to a provider that provides an actual in person eye exam. Support your local eye doctor and stop using these chains who constantly look to cut costs to increase corporate profits. read more

Worst experience ever and I've been wearing and purchasing glasses for more than 40 years! The customer service is terrible. I purchased lenses for my sun glasses but had to return them because they didn't get my prescription right! Plus, both pairs of glasses I purchased (one for my daughter) are old-school thick although i paid for high index lenses. I returned mine, waited a month, picked it up again, still not right. I still cant see out of the lenses. RUN! spend your hard earned money somewhere else. read more

Not a good experience. - They provided me with incorrect information about insurance policy - Had a problem with partial credit card transaction - took 40 min wait time to fix - They ordered my contact lenses with wrong prescription - I had to make another visit I understand these mistakes can happen as a human job. However, I wouldn't have left this review if the supervisor apologized for his mistakes at least once. read more

We went for my wife's eye check up took for less than 5 mins and we were not happy with the way it was done. I went to a different place and it was through ,I will not recommend for eye checkup. They have good collection of frames. read more

Really expensive and didn't have my receipt or my prescription ready when I came to pick up the glasses the first time. I would leave zero stars if it were an option. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE. Compared to other places, Visionworks is incredibly expensive but my eye exam was covered here so I came for the exam with the intention of filling the prescription at America's Best. I explained this in the beginning as soon as I saw that their contact lenses were about 4x more expensive even with my insurance. After completing my eye exam, they filled the prescription for a brand that I don't actually use and that costs twice as much money as the brand I do use. Unbeknownst to me at the time, they wrote no substitutions next to the brand name. When I returned to America's Best to order the lenses I've been wearing for 15+ years, they informed me that the dr at Visionworks would not allow me to order that brand and suggested I call and ask him to remove the "no substitutions clause" . I called and they told me the doctor was with a patient and they would have to call me back. They called me back an hour later stating that they would change it if America's Best faxed over the prescription from the previous year. We did that and waited two more hours under the assumption that the doctor was fixing the paperwork. A full two hours later, they called back stating that the doctor would not change the clause because the brand I ordinarily use is not carried by Visionworks. This information would have been useful if received well in advance, but to have me stand in an eye care place with my newborn and toddler waiting hours for a fax that was never coming was unprofessional to say the least. Furthermore, my prescription is basically useless since it is only good for the most expensive brand of lenses. These lenses are also not readily available behind the counter. They have to be ordered and then delivered which takes 3-5 business days. I will now have to waste more time and money for the entire year on these expensive lenses or I will have to get an eye exam someplace else. If I had it do over again, I would just get the exam done at America's Best where the exam and the lenses are discounted. Even if your eye care plan covers Visionworks in Wayne, it will still cost way more, it will take longer, and they will have no regard for your money or time. I advise everyone reading this to go ANYWHERE OTHER THAN HERE! read more

I created a Yelp account just to write this review. First and foremost, I'd like to say I've never been so disgusted with customer service in my entire life. My journey with this Visionworks started on April 8th, 2017 and is still an ongoing saga today. I called the Radnor store on Saturday, April 8th and made an appointment for Saturday, April 15th. I then called the store again on Monday, April 9th, to confirm they had the frame I wanted and they said they did and would hold them for me. During this call, I asked one of the store associates, it was a lady and I do not remember her name, if the lab technician would be in on Saturday to cut my lenses that day because I live 10 miles away from the store and didn't want to have to make the trip twice. I was told "yes, they should be in" and then they called me again on Friday, April 14th to confirm my appoint for the next day (Saturday, April 15th). Annnnd that's when everything went down hill. I arrive at the store and am greeted by Kate. She assisted me with filling out the necessary paperwork (which I had filled out online and 2 years prior because I had been to this location to get glasses before) and after informing her of that, I was told that I had to fill the paperwork out again, for some reason. After filling out the paperwork, I took my eye exam and after it's completion, I was informed by the doctor that I wouldn't be getting my glasses for about a week because "the lab tech quit months ago and we haven't replaced them yet" which, if I had followed my gut instinct, I should have paid for the exam and went elsewhere with my business because I was misled into believing the lab tech would be in on Saturday to cut my lenses after my appointment. But, I didn't follow my gut and I guess that's ultimately where everything else went awry. I was greeted by Kate and another young lady who's name I can't pronounce or spell correctly, and they inform me of their Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale and I obliged. I shouldn't have. I was upsold on a few "upgrades" and in total, everything came to about $530 and I got two pair of the same glasses but in different colors. I was told by the sales Kate the glasses should be ready in "about 10 days but they usually come in much sooner" and I was alright with that. Patience is a virtue I told myself, as I walked out of the store after spending an arm and a leg on two pair of glasses when I originally only wanted one and being lied to about getting them the same day. Thursday, April 20th rolls around, and I'm starting to get excited (and anxious because this Visionworks doesn't have the best reputation but they served me amazingly well in the past) and decide to call the store. I get Kate on the line and she informs me they have "one of the frames and lenses came back and the other one should be in today or sometime tomorrow", which would have made that Friday, April 21st. I called the next day, and was greeted by Troy and he informed me after a 10 minute hold "Oh, we had to send your frames to Texas because they didn't have them in stock and they "could" come in tomorrow, (Saturday, April 22nd) but we're not sure because we don't know what's going on". "We had to send them back on Thurdsay (April 20th). Mind you, when I called Thursday, April 20th, I was told the glasses were on their way back to them, not "they were shipping them out" as they suggested. At this point, I'm beyond upset but still trying to remember that patience is the key and I let the weekend go by without hassling them. I call them on Tuesday, April 22nd and was greeted by Kate again and she informed me "The glasses haven't come in yet, but they definitely will be here Saturday, the 29th" and I said alright I'll call you and make sure. I woke up this morning with a terrible feeling and said to myself "I'm sure they found another way to drop the ball again and I won't be getting my glasses for another week". Well, as it turns out, i was right. I called and talked to Kate again and she said "Well, there was an issue with the manufacturer in Texas cutting the lenses, and they haven't sent them back yet but WE WILL CALL YOU WHEN THEY COME". At that point, I knew I made a grave mistake by going to this Visionworks location again and I decided to call corporate. They weren't able to get anyone from the manufacture site on the phone, but I was provided with a reference number and a number to call them directly and I told them I'm going to file a complaint with the BBB against them and the location in Radnor if I'm not given a definitive answer about the whereabouts of my glasses and when i can pick them up. If you stuck around to read all of that, please STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE. The customer service is inconsistent at best and you're going to have to jump through hoops and bounds to get your very expensive order. It's not worth it. Take your business elsewhere, please. I would not go here. I got a pair of glasses for a reasonable price. However, my vision for reading up close immediately worsened. They tried to sell me on Progressive lenses, but I no problem with my old glasses. I want elsewhere and found out that the focal point of my lenses was off, leading to my vision problems. Ultimately, I will say the management was effective in that they gave me no hassle in returning my glasses. On further research, this place is owned by an insurance company. Caveat emptor! read more

Made a Yelp account just to leave this review. -Poor customer service and communication. I really just wanted to renew my contact lens prescription, so I came in and saw the doctor who was unfriendly, for one. -I was told that the brand and specific prescription I needed was on backorder and that I would be called when they became available. Over a month later, I decided to check in and they had arrived back in stock weeks ago, no one ever called me. -When they were back in stock, I asked if I could place an order, was put on hold for 20 mins, had to say my card number 3 times, and told I would be called back "in a few minutes" that same day. I had to call the next day after receiving no contact from the person I was speaking to. He had forgotten. -After finally placing my order in over the phone, I was told that I would receive a call when they arrived. I called back (over 3 weeks later), to check the status of my order, and they were apparently already at the store. What should have been a maximum 3 weeks process took 2 months. The pet shop that used to be here had better customer service. RIP. Unacceptable. read more

I've been searching for a place to get glasses for a while now and I think I finally found it. Went there this morning and had a great experience. I was greeted as soon as I entered, and after spending a few minutes going over my rx and insurance, he told me to feel free to browse and try on glasses. They left me look on my own for a bit, then someone came over and helped and she was great too. Listened to me as to what style I liked, then offered choices, and told me what looked good and what didn't. Once I selected the frame, they explained the lense options and then the price. Overall a nice place to shop. Friendly and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend them. read more

I don't know if the personnel has changed since some of the people who wrote bad reviews have been to this Visionworks in St. Davids, but my experience there was excellent recently. The eye doctor did a thorough job and was very smart and professional. I especially needed help with progressive glasses that I had bought awhile back, but which never worked well for me. One of the people in the front of the office, Julie (possibly the manager?) was very conscientious and helpful. She worked with me for at least 45 minutes, adjusting my glasses and remeasuring, to see what the problem was and to order new lenses to fix the problem. Julie is one of those people who clearly takes her job seriously and wants to do it well and send customers away happy. She's terrific. I recommend this Visionworks highly; ask for Julie! read more

Not greatest customer service. Doctor ran late so my appointment had to be pushed back. They only have someone to cut lenses one day a week and they don't know when he will be in. I came in at the time they told me he is always in by and he was 2 hours later than that and decided to then get a coffee and food leaving me sitting around 3 1/2 hours waiting for my glasses for which I had already paid in full for as they had made me or I would have never stayed. I usually don't write reviews but I am hoping my experience at VisionWorks can help other customers make an informed decision to go to the best location hands down: Radnor. I was a bit hesitant to go to this particular location because it is on the Main Line which is known for being snobby and "boujie". Thankfully, my worries were put to rest when I was greeted by an employee named Kate. She made me feel comfortable and lived up to the level of service I have come to expect as a proud Delco resident. In other words, she kept it real. When I told her I was on a budget she didn't try to pressure me and sell me more expensive frames and lenses, but rather worked with me to find the best option for my eyes AND my wallet. She even went out of her way to give me a follow up call after I picked up my new glasses just to make sure they fit and that I was fully satisfied. It felt like a mom & pop experience rather than a big corporation who treats their customers like nameless dollar signs (yea I'm talking to you LensCrafters). I can honestly say I am looking forward to my next yearly eye exam! read more

If there was a TV competition for comical incompetence in running a business, this place would do very well. The clerk who called to confirm the appointment could not put together a sentence if her life depended on it. The manager kept us in the store for an hour before processing the order. Two weeks later, they tried convincing us that the comically-oversized glasses came in the frames we originally ordered---it is a good thing I had taken a photo with the make and model number of the right frame. I wish I could give zero stars. On 9/21 I dropped off a pair of sunglasses (my frames - which were $400) to have the lenses replaced. There were no samples for tint colors in the store so I basically had to trust that they knew the color tint that I wanted. I left the glasses with them, obviously, and was told they would be in on 9/26. Never came. I went to the store on 9/30...still not there because "They were waiting on their UPS delivery." I called today on 10/3 - over 2 weeks later - and was told that they don't know what is happening with them. The assistant manager (I think) told me she "emailed them but didn't get a response" and that she COULDN'T CALL THE LAB BECAUSE THE LAB DOES NOT PROVIDE A PHONE NUMBER TO STORES!!! What kind of business is this???? Now I may be out $400 for frames and the $170 I paid up front for lenses but she "will have the store manager call me". DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! I don't know if they are incompetent or thieves or both. read more

Stopped in to have my husband's glasses fixed. The manger was so helpful and showed me a pair of glasses that she has. I ended up purchasing 2 pairs. Wonderful experience. The gentleman up front was fabulous with my daughter (5) who wanted to try on EVERY SINGLE pair of frames, twice. He even helped me price out the Visionworks discounts vs. using our vision insurance to make sure we didn't spend any money we didn't need to. We will be back! read more

Bait and switch practices. They check your insurance, give a quote, then the day you come in for the exam and glasses, they quote over $100 more for the same services. Dishonest and slimy tactics. The staff is rather incompetent and nobody really knows what is going on. Stay away!! read more

I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about. The staff was efficient in all aspects. Scheduling was stress free, the staff members were friendly and willing to help out, and Shantel made some really good suggestions towards my sister's eye care. I was told the glasses would take 10 days, they showed up in 7! They also had an above average range of glasses to choose from on their wall. Would like to give them less than one star. I bought 3 pairs of glasses at once from Vision Works awhile ago. Took forever for my glasses to be ready and then when they were, in one pair, the most important pair, there was a problem with one of the lenses and I had to wait another week for it to arrive. That is not what makes me rate this store so low though. It's the quality of the glasses themselves. They charge high prices, yet the glasses are second rate. Pieces have been coming off them, and the absolute worst is that there is a coating on the lenses that you can not let get warm, or else something happens to it that ruins the lens. When you put the glasses on, it's like wearing someone else's prescription. There is no remedy for this. Kiss your glasses good by!! And who hasn't left there glasses in a car when it's warm outside, or laid them down in the sun?!! It doesn't take long for it to happen. Stay clear of Vision Works!! read more
