The doctors here are nice but the guy who does the glasses is utterly unprofessional, avoid this place.

Practice: the practice I went to get service was very quick and I was in and out in no time I hope you enjoy your experience here as much as I did

This review is about our time at Penn Fertility Care specifically, navigating family planning w/ a known genetic risk -- FMR1/Fragile X syndrome -- through IVF, PGT-M, & PGT-A. Going in, we asked whether the clinic had real-world experience w/ Fragile X-related cases. We were told yes, & Dr. Anuja Dokras took on our care. All 5 consultations were virtual, w/ occasional tech hiccups -- one delay ran ~40 min. Appts were often spaced 1-3 mos apart, which, layered onto our existing anxiety, left little room to work through complex genetic questions or feel confident about next steps. Post genetic counseling & 2 stimulation cycles, we had real questions about our realistic odds of a healthy, transferable embryo from our own eggs. Cycle 1: 16 eggs, 2 embryos, neither cleared PGT-A. Cycle 2: 14 eggs, 1 embryo -- carrying the full mutation. Only once a 3rd cycle was already being floated, after repeated prodding on our end, did we get an individualized number: ~10% odds per cycle. We respect the physician's clinical judgment & know IVF can't promise outcomes. Still, we never got an early, plain-language breakdown of how age, the FMR1 premutation, & our PGT-A/PGT-M results added up together. A more candid, earlier conversation about alternatives -- donor eggs included -- before 2 costly, draining cycles might've spared our family real financial & emotional strain. At a meeting w/ clinic leadership, we raised concerns re: strategy & communication. We were shown general IVF stats from genetics, but felt these broad numbers didn't reflect our genetically complex case. We were offered a $2,500 partial reimbursement tied to admin issues -- appreciated, but it didn't touch our core concern: gaps in communication & personalization of our plan. To be clear, this isn't a claim of formal medical error -- just a candid account. We believe Penn Fertility Care, Dr. Dokras, & the HUP Patient Experience dept have real room to grow in explaining individualized odds sooner, surfacing alternatives earlier, & building a more empathetic culture for families facing complex genetic fertility cases. We're open to further dialogue & sent full documentation to Penn Medicine's CEO & VPs, requesting a review of our grievance outcome & the depts involved. We still believe in Penn Medicine's standards & hope leadership pursues a genuine, independent review & a fair resolution -- given our sense that care proceeded on incomplete informed consent. Due to char limits & platform rules, we're posting our full review & timeline elsewhere (other platforms/social). For future patients considering this clinic, our advice is included in the attached images.

Wednesday - May 8, 2013 - 9:00 AM…read more It's had been three years since my last examination. My insurance company listed several optometrists/ophthalmologists in my area. I selected Jahnle because of convenient location, free parking, and yes, examination, and eyeglasses. Stacks of eyeglasses in different colors and styles were neatly positioned ahead as I entered the office. The office was eye-pleasing, properly lit, and well-appointed. The staff was professional and courteous. An assistant promptly completed a questionnaire as I provided answers about my health status. She applied drops for the standard Glaucoma and retinal examinations. The tests were conducted quickly and comfortably. Best yet, no sign of vision deterioration and no need for replacement glasses. The examining physician, Dr. Mekel, indicated that I would not need another exam for two years. Although glasses could be ordered here, he provided a prescription in the event I wished glasses manufactured elsewhere. A pleasant experience!

I left his care in awe - impressed and grateful. Cataract surgery takes 10-15 minutes. After my original Wills physician with a fancy Princeton address kept putting off my surgery until my retiring retina specialist whispered, "Mark, your doctor has waited too long. He's too conservative. You better get that cataract out, or you're going to suffer complications," I found Dr. Bailey. He confirmed I needed to get it out, and it would be difficult. My surgery took over an hour. Dr. Bailey backed up his entire day of surgeries that day and went home late to his family, all for a man he never met and could not bill for the extra time in which he could have done 4 or 5 other surgeries. Of course his results are miraculous. He spent an hour and a quarter on me; not his assistant or intern. Dr. Bailey tirelessly operated on my eye for an hour and a quarter. I see better out of that eye than my other. I'm particularly appreciative of Dr. Bailey's devotion, as I'm familiar with the business and politics of running a thriving medical or surgical practice, today. The emphasis is on volume. It is my purpose to highlight and thank Dr. Bailey and his entire staff for their devotion. I know I received special, expensive, and non-billable time. I shout his praises from the rooftop. He's earned it. He's a very special man. By the way, as an added extra, the optical shoppe they run is likewise devoted to patients. Their prices are discounted for their patients, and the personal devotion you receive almost equals that of Dr. Bailey.
