This was my letter;July 2, 2015 Dear Owner, I am writing to let you know about our stay at your Bed and Breakfast Inn. My daughter and I were really excited about having one night to enjoy Sturgeon Bay and each other before her birthday. I made sure to book one of you nicer rooms since it was a special celebration for her. We appreciated your help finding a restaurant nearby and your home is beautiful. There were however many disappointments with the stay and service and instead of publicizing it on yelp we thought we would first let you know. Upon arriving we parked in what seemed to be available space though you seemed disappointed about our choice there was no direction on the website that you preferred us to park on the street. The dragonfly room was nice however every table and counter space was filled with decorations so we couldn't really make ourselves at home. The shower had a grimy hair like substance on the knob and the products available for use were of poor quality. The new mattress was the same type I have at home, very firm and yet without a pillow top cover was like sleeping on a hard board. The dog was sweet however dog hair on the sofa kept me from enjoying the TV area and his begging around the breakfast table was bothersome. I would recommend adding another lock between the kitchen and the bathroom. It felt very vulnerable to have no way of locking the bathroom from the kitchen except a slide old fashioned twist knob and didn't appear a safer manner to instill security in your guests. The room was adjacent to the clock which chimed every hour so between the bed and the chime neither of us slept more than an a few hours total. The noise from other guests upstairs is to be expected but paying more to be next to the kitchen made no sense to me. We are both early risers due to our busy lives and were looking forward to sleeping in a little however your ringing of the chime for coffee was extremely unappreciated. I don't go on vacation to be "controlled" as you jokingly mentioned at breakfast and would much prefer a more casual breakfast atmosphere. You said coffee would be waiting for us on the table outside our room and after I needed to request it the lack of a spoon or space to set it down was frustrating. I would have thought putting coffee, juice, fruit and scones out on your cookie table/hutch would have been much more inviting. It would also allow for people to only serve what they wanted and I felt like I had way too much while others obviously left hungry. Making us wait for other guests and making them feel late was awkward for everyone. I do understand your desire to serve a hot breakfast while it is still warm however serving a hot egg dish with dried meats as a side and inedible flowers as decoration was hardly worth all the fuss. Warmers and ice trays could easily keep things at the correct temps and still give a good formal style breakfast. It could be done easily as guests arrive and a more relaxing atmosphere would encourage more socialization. Over all the bed was excruciatingly painful, shower dirty and nighttime noise unbearable. The wine, chocolates, fruit and bottled water were good. The egg, cherry and ham dish, rolls of turkey, ham and grape, scones of rosemary and roasted grapes (cold centers so must have been reheated) were awful. I was tempted to eat the inedible flower just to let you know. Due to our fatigue from lack of sleep and the tardiness of other guests' arrival we were unable to spend the time we wanted that morning in town prior to heading home. I could not recommend your establishment in good conscience. I know how hard it is to manage guests in an unobtrusive manner while giving them quality service and I truly hope our thoughts are taken to heart so you will succeed. Sincerely,

Glassware, plates and pretty settings are provided. Go to the stores and indulge in local produce, coffee, honey, cheese, butter, pastry, beer, wine... Anne at the desk was sweet, thoughtful and so helpful! When you stay here you are given a loaf of fresh made bread, a jar of delicious and novel preserves (I selected a savory sweet potato butter but there were many more options!) The beds are soft, warm and comfortable. You can easily, comfortably have six adults sleeping blissfully. There is a fireplace, a charming Christmas tree, painterly views in every direction and stargazing at night. Television for those who don't want go out or hike and explore. Cozy furniture for reading. Lots of open space for outdoorsy play. Our beagle was lovingly welcomed. He was so happy to romp the trails and be welcomed in local places with treats! My one and only suggestion should you visit in the winter is to bring a hair dryer. I wish one was stocked here but don't forget to bring your own. It is cold outside!

I (we're semi-retired so time/convenience of a motel or lodge aren't as important and the lower cost is more important). We came here with our 3 sons years ago and returned with our youngest son and grandson. Aqualand has changed in one respect: seasonal campers occupy about 85% of the sites. But it's still a pretty friendly park and fairly quiet. The grounds are well kept without being fussy, The owners are friendly and genuinely care about your experience. There's a pool for the kids, and fishing pond, and great roads for kids to bike around. The bath house is well maintained and clean as well as odorless. The location is great with easy access to Ephraim, Sister Bay and Baileys Harbor.

A review of Door County/FAQ for some of the people who have given less than perfect reviews to…read morecertain Door County establishments and for those who are new to Door County and the Door County lifestyle: A few things about Door County. Firstly, there is a very good reason for the visitors tax. DC is a completely separate entity from the rest of the state&essentially from the country at large. Its almost completely sustainable by itself. It has it's own economy. That economy is run almost completely on tourism. You are paying for the luxury of an old-fashioned sustainable economy, the likes of which you won't find elsewhere (well, maybe in Cape Cod or The Hamptons). You must consider this when visiting. The taxes you pay when staying in and while eating, shopping, etc. in Door County go to a good cause. As the county is almost entirely separate and sustainable in its own right, any extra money you pay either in taxes or just during your visit in general goes to a great cause and is used to keep the county running in the future in the way that it has been able to do these past thirty or forty years. In my opinion, we are very fortunate to be able to have such a place available to us in the United States in this day and age. As to the county 'closing at 9pm,' a criticism that I don't find to be entirely fair, which I've found in several reviews of DC establishments, it depends on what time of year you're visiting of course, although I know plenty of places all over the peninsula that are open late year round. Try JJ's/La Puerta or Husby's in Sister Bay next time, or Shipwrecked Pub or Mojo Rosa's in Egg Harbor. There are many options available in downtown Sturgeon Bay as well, or book a late night tour of the peninsula or a pub crawl at Lautenbach's in Fish Creek. You'll have a blast!
