I had three different caregiver in six weeks. The first two didn't seem to know what they needed to do. The third one was pretty ok but she didn't seem to have much home care experience. My mother was taken advantage of by these people. She was looking for a housekeeping service -- deep clean once a month. She is 85 and did not understand what their services were. She signed a contract and wrote a check for $576 as a "down payment". The person who visited her (Sarah Olson, who is no longer with them) had to know Mom didn't understand what she was getting into. According to Mom, Sarah couldn't get out of there fast enough once she had the check in hand. This was in September; no services have been rendered, no phone calls have been made to my mom as of December 30th. I found out about this accidentally in November -- Mom didn't want to tell me -- and I contacted the owner, Aaron Olson. I explained the situation, and told him that while we will probably hire them in the future, we were not yet to that point. He told me he would send me forms to cancel, but they were never forthcoming. Repeated calls resulted in getting the run-around, spearheaded by "Phoenix" in the office, who kept promising to call me back with info but never did. She was in the office but would not take my calls ("May I speak to Phoenix please?" "May I say who's calling? Oh, sorry, she's out.") I finally emailed Aaron and he told me he would refund all but a $300 "administration fee", per the contract. I made it clear that that was unacceptable. It has been 20 days and no check has been received. No services rendered. These people claim to have compassion for the elderly. That is a crock. They could have had a long-term customer in the future had they 1) refunded the money, or 2) showed up and actually did something. They did neither. We are now talking to Home Instead about future help for Mom. read more

This review is for the Visiting Angels covering Lorain County (a.k.a. Olson Homecare LLC). This company failed in many ways to provide proper care for my 81 year old mother who lives in Avon Lake. The most obvious example of not fulfilling their side of the agreement is the failure of Visiting Angels to ARRIVE and provide services at the agreed upon times as documented in the agreement. On multiple occasions, often consecutive shifts, Visiting Angels did not arrive at the scheduled times and we were not even contacted to let us know that someone was considerably late or not coming at all. In addition, according to the agreement, Visiting Angels list of duties includes "assisting with basic personal care and ambulation." Visiting Angels failed at this on multiple occasions, leaving the client alone to enter and exit the shower, watching TV as the client struggled to cross rooms, carrying items without her walker, taking smoke breaks in locations where the client was not within site for long periods of time, and physically moving rugs and carpets INTO areas that were incredibly unsafe for a client who had recently broken her hip and was using a walker. The contractual agreement also states that Visiting Angels does not "practice medicine or nursing, and makes no recommendations concerning diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, medication, dosage, prescriptions, or other medical or health related services." - however, multiple Visiting Angels did attempt to do just that by admittedly giving the client "memory tests" and discussed "crushing her medication and putting it in applesauce," even though the medication bottle was clearly marked with "DO NOT CRUSH." These items just scratch the surface. We had to suspend service because we were afraid my mother might get hurt while under the care of Visiting Angels. To top it all off, we notified the owner, Aaron of all of these deficiencies when we canceled the service and yet he still kept my mother's three thousand dollar deposit. I would never recommend anyone hire this company to take care of a loved one. read more

Very expensive service, I paid for premium service and what I got was a $10.00 an hour fast food type that didn't know how to do anything, not even load a dishwasher. Would not recommend. read more

On Yelp, this business states that "Visiting Angels of Lorain and Erie Counties OH is an award-winning living assistance agency providing superior, non-medical in-home care to local seniors." Nothing could be further from the truth and I can't imagine what awards they have possibly even qualified for. The other reviewer writes that this business is a scam regarding the financial aspect, but our experience was even worse in that their employees present a serious safety concern. We hired Visiting Angels (angels, really?) to be present for our 90+ year old father recovering from surgery and experiencing memory loss. We had been with him 24/7 and simply needed a break to have some personal time yet know that he would be safe. The employees were constantly late, unprofessional in manner (shoes off lounging in my father's room), and, worst of all, sleeping on the job. We had to call her name five times to wake her up and then she seemed like she was on drugs. The Sandusky-area Visiting Angels should be avoided, period! read more

My mother was very sick and I live out of state. I met with them and they really helped us. Phoenix was so kind, kept me updated and has such a sweet soul. Shaekea was my moms care giver and she was amazing. Sweet, kind, understanding and always on time ready to do anything to help my mom. The good news is she's feeling better! I will use them again in the future and I recommend to anyone with an aging senior that's still at home. It's not cheap - but it's well worth it. They did everything like taking her to appointments, organizing her medicine, cleaning, cooking errands, etc. well well worth the money!!! read more

weare a family of three elderly handicapped people for whom the visiting angels have been taking care ofthrough the resources of my brother-in-law,benny allen. we have been very pleased with the staff members who have been assigned to us. the women have been very friendly, accomodatinmg, and efficient. we could not keep our house as clean without them. and, also picking up groceries and our prescxriptions is such a blessing. i feelyou are aptly named. thank you1 read more
