Candid pictures of residents are in the walls. Activities and crafts are out to show. There is a plant light for succulents. Around the grounds, the mostly one story resident buildings are very nice with garages. The windows appear to be the crank open kind. There are lots of trees and birds. A lot of staff were visible. Those individuals are there for the right reason and show a great deal of compassion. I feel sorry for those in the facility that need help figuring out how to navigate a Medicaid system or payments on their own. The advocate that they had was great in helping to navigate the system. They eliminated her role. The good thing about this place is they will not kick you out of assisted living if your funds no longer cover the full expense. It is not the same place it was 10 years ago.

The atmosphere is that of a home rather than of a facility. The place is immaculately clean. Meals are home-cooked and healthy. The ratio of aides to residents is much higher at Greenview than at larger facilities and so all of the residents can receive individualized, timely care. The staff is carefully trained and very caring. The owner (Danka) has a wealth of knowledge about senior care and is expert at providing hands-on care herself. She is there daily, overseeing every aspect of the facility and of the care. Family and visitors are welcomed and become part of the loving community at Greenview. What a difference!

The independent living section of the Normandy campus is great! My mom loved it there despite it…read moretaking A LOT of convincing to downsize from her home. The apartments are spacious and clean. The food was excellent. So many programs offered! My mom was even allowed to "rent" out party rooms for family get-togethers/baby shower. The staff was great, too. One of the nurses, literally, saved my mom's life after she suffered a heart attack by performing CPR. Sadly, we had to move my mom to the nursing home behind the independent living building. All I can say is STAY AWAY from the nursing home. I was expecting it to run as smoothly and professionally as the independent living place, but was dead wrong. Half the time, no one answers the phone, which is disconcerting. They lost family photos we brought for her room. And when she moved to hospice, they threw all of her belongings in a garbage bag--including pants and a lamp that didn't belong to her AND some paperwork on another patient which is a huge HIPAA violation. So really, this review is twofold: independent living at Normandy = GREAT; nursing home at Normandy = CRAP

As his health deteriorated both the staff and other residents at Governor's Port helped my Dad to cope. I cannot praise the warm friendly atmosphere at Governor's Port enough.
