The exam was…read morevery uncomfortable as the optometrist is clearly a smoker and attempts to cover the odor by chewing gum WHILE he's doing your exam. Having someone in your face with cigarette breath and chomping on gum is not a pleasant experience. Besides that, the clinic is very small and the glasses selection is very limited. Customer service was okay. I probably received the best service from the guy who adjusted my frames. Skip this place and find another eye clinic in Eagle River, or go somewhere in Anchorage if you can.

The waiting room is beautiful…read more The first time I went there, they ran us through like cattle, 10 at a time to be taken in the back and then out the door and then the next 10. it didn't feel very personal. They they not really interacted with me. They just said, open your eyes. Be still. I was informed by them five years ago they were the only ones in the state that does the surgery. So I had to do it with them. They charged me $1880 for their facility fee. On top of my copay. My insurance won't pay their facility fee. This fall I had secondary cataracts that had to be removed Again they told me the same thing and recharging me the same price I called around, talk to my insurance and found a minimum of 10 other doctors in this town that will do that surgery and charge my insurance without me having to pay a huge facility fee... I don't think it's fair, especially to the elderly who are living on Medicare. The people the front desk were very nice.

Lens crafters and the Opthalmology clinic associated within the same building (Dr. Craig Begin and…read moreAssociates) at the Diamond Mall location has dropped the ball a multitude of times on my account. They have the WORST ability to communicate within their team and the patients, in order to serve their patients/clients effectively. YOU, the patient/client, will have to be on top of it if you want anything to happen. The ophthalmologist did his job and was easy to speak with. The rest of the team is a disaster. The Opthalmology clinic's ability to convey messages (lack of), conduct follow up with its clients, and workout mishaps within its own staff for the betterment of the company or to improve relations with the client, is appalling. The lack of concern when misphaps do happen is off-putting, especially with repeated offenses. Service is disgustingly below par. Save yourself the trouble. My experience is listed below: The front desk (who poorly listens to  concerns or it wouldn't be repeated several times) was supposed to call me when my trial contacts came in, but weeks go by, no call, and I am the one who has to call to see the status...she said oh yeh, they're here. Well, everyone makes mistakes so I understand, but this continues the ENTIRE TIME in the span of 3 months! I then schedule another appointment to try a different pair of trials because the first ones did not work for me. Scheduling with the front desk can be irritating because she is regularly confused regarding what the appointment is for and what types of trials. After trying these, I call and inform them that instead of another follow up visit, I'd like  to order a years worth of contacts since I've had this brand before. Apparently, whoever took messages while others were at lunch, did not convey this with the person who orders the contacts. This was Sept/November. I wait 2 days shy of 3 WEEKS to ask the status and NOPE, no contacts...the lady (Chelsea) said she wasn't even made aware. So we resolve this by me ordering contacts with her, who said she was the person who orders contacts and they would CALL me if there was a problem. Weeks go by and it is now Dec 26 and NO CALL, so I call them. No one I spoke to saw paperwork that indicates my order and I would have to wait until that person comes back to the office. I call again and the front desk answers saying my trials are in...I'm very irritated at this point because if she had even looked at the chart, she'd know I don't need trials because I already had my trial appointments to try contacts in september, but no, they don't research any of this or speak to each other to sort this out. NO ONE even apologizes for any of this. I ask to speak to the one who "ordered" my contacts only to find that she doesn't order my year's worth but that it is the "lenscrafters" side that does this...ALL THIS TIME...almost 2 months of back and forth and waiting....no one clarifies this process. After speaking to the Opthalmology side for the 3rd time (Repeating myself with the same request to the same people who don't take the time to understand or be thorough), Lenscrafters finally calls me and says they will MAIL me my contacts. This was the most burdensome way to purchase contacts, something that should have been relatively easy turned into a convuluted mess. Disorganization and lack of effective communication contributing to this mess. The impression they leave is, "It's not my problem, but here's your bill" Save yourself the trouble.
