Today I was scheduled for a 10:30 AM exam, and I checked in at 10:20 AM. I asked if my appointment would be over by 11:30 AM, and the woman at the counter said that there were a "couple people ahead" of me. Not sure why they gave me a 10:30 AM appointment if they can't even see me until 11:30 AM or later. I asked when the next available appointment would be and they said in two+ weeks. Believe the reviews. This is not the place to get your eyes examined. FYI: While you wait for your appointment for an hour or more, you have to stand around in the grocery store that their office is located in, absolutely ridiculous. read more

Horrible place and Doctor. Punishes to have to reschedule same day. I called hours before my exam giving them time to call others like me who are on a last min call list when someone cancels. I been waiting 4 months for the Doctor to "forgive" me to make another appointment at the only place that takes my insurance. I literally begged 2x a nothing. My insurance is great back home but, being here working for NOAA, my USAA insurance is not good for most places in Newport. I HAD to work a 14hr midnight shift due to normal things that go on when you have to stay later then planned. I'm so sorry work happened. What I have to do to make a living as well. I can't remark on their actual service because I haven't been able to get any. My first appointment was canceled because they didn't tell me I needed to arrive 15 minutes early, so when I arrived on time I was "too late." The second appointment was set for two weeks later, and they called an hour before to cancel because their equipment had broken down. They weren't able to see me for another three weeks, although I explained to them I was down to my last pair of contacts, which I have been wearing for a month. They are only open two days a week and located in the Fred Meyers, so probably not a good option for anything other than maybe some new eyeglasses. read more

You can imagine my surprise when my glasses were mailed to me and the lenses were not in the frame. When I went shopping, I took them with me and I stopped by Vista Optical where I was lucky enough to meet Jamie. Despite not getting my glasses at Vista Optical, Jamie was so kind, helpful and professional. She took the time to put the lenses in, explain the uniqueness of my frames and all of that with a smile. I was late for my appointment due to horrendous traffic. I left with plenty of time. I couldn't reschedule without putting down a $50 deposit. No problem, I thought. I woke up sick and called 24 hours before my appointment and I was put on the "bad" list. I would not be seen until COVID allowed then to return to their normal schedule and then I was put in a wait list. I guess I should have gone in sick with COVID and all going on. Called yesterday after months of waiting. Nope. No appointment without checking with the "doctor," who doesn't even work Mon., Tues., and Wed. Even REAL doctors don't punish patients even if you call the same day to cancel. Over the past few months, I've heard nothing but bad about this place, so I'm better off. These folks are fantastic! I rolled over on my glasses and they looked like a NY pretzel! Of course, it was my only pair. :-( This occurred on the day before a holiday...so I was in a pickle. I called and they actually made a "repair appointment" for me. They REPLACED both ear pieces and the nose pads and then made sure that the glasses were fully adjusted on my face. They wouldn't accept any payment nor would they accept s tip! They really came to my rescue. They have earned both my respect and a new customer. Thanks, you guys! You're The best! read more

The optometrist here is excellent very professional and the staff very friendly and helpful BUT ordering anything is terrible. To order contacts it took 1 full month. BOTH Times! I ordered That's too long. The last optometrist office I could get the in 1-3 days Very unorganized, no standard office procedures apparently They have an incredibly small work space, I mean tiny tiny That could be a part of the problem read more

They saved my camping trip! I realized I forgot my glasses and contacts on the counter at home - 3 hours away. They were open on Saturday and were able to connect with my optometrist at home and get me a trial pair of contact lenses! I am now able to SEE and enjoy the rest of my trip! Thank you! read more

We had to go back 3 times to get a pair of glasses correct (they took 1/2 of my rx & put it on my husbands glasses)???? The optometrist wrote an rx for mine that said one eye had gone from 1.5 to 3.00 in about a year..but the other eye had improved...what????, but unfortunately trusted the "professional". Went ahead and filled the rx, got my glasses and knew something was wrong. I felt like I had a brain anorysm, didn't feel safe driving and my balance was way off. Went back and explained, was told to keep wearing and would get better. It didn't. Went to the Tillamook location and the guy there said it wasn't right and he'd never seen a rx change like that for one eye. When I went back to Newport they insisted glasses are made correctly...which they probably are, my guess is the optometrist screwed it up. I put my old glasses on and they're great. See great and no headaches. This location is inept from top to bottom. Go somewhere else - your eyes are too important for them to screw with. read more
