    U-Haul Moving & Storage

    U-Haul Moving & Storage

I'd like to report a very regrettable service by U-Haul. My son needed to move from Vancouver BC to…read moreVictoria BC today, June 3, 2023. 30 days in advance he contacted U-Hail in Abbotsford (30618 Matsoui Pl, Abbotsford BC V2T6L4) and booked a moving TRUCK. The U-Haul rep quoted $200 for the truck. Two weeks later, mid-June my son contacted the Abbotsford location again to change the equipment from truck to a 5'x8' TRAILER. U-Haul did not advise of the quoted price change for the rental at that time. My son booked the elevator in his condo building and today, June 3, 2023 he went to pick up the trailer. He was charged $545 plus tax ($610.40) for rental of a trailer (contract #88213247)! Since he already booked the elevator and his move put date was today, he had no choice but to pay this exorbitant amount. I contacted U-Haul corporate office and spoke with Manager Nicky Seals. She said that U-Haul price varies with equipment availability and demand but that U-Haul in Abbotsford should have honoured the quote if the equipment was reserved in advance. Instead U-Haul charged the price they had available TODAY, June 3. This is unacceptable. Our family has been loyal U-Haul customer since 2006 when we rented a similar trailer to move from ON to BC for $300. We used U-Haul every time we moved since then. Regrettably, we will not be returning to U-Haul now. What happened to our son was clearly fraud and extortion. U-Haul in Abbotsford never mentioned that the price went from $200 to $545! Had we known, we would have found another service and we had two weeks to do so! What a disappointment. We will discourage all the people we know from using U-Haul going forward.

You can just go in and they can help you". So I showed up on time and was refused help, and told I had to do everything myself online. What a pain in the ass. I HATED the process (and I don't ever use that word) to the point I wouldn't use uHaul again. No customer service. And on top of it all when I returned it the uHaul computer system wasn't working. Luckily the lady inside (who was very nice but just refused to help) at the end was willing to help given their computer system wasn't working. To force a customer use this system shows how little you care as a company about your customers. What if I didn't have a smart phone and showed up? I guess I wouldnt have been helped at all. Absolutely brutal rental process. I can't recommend.

The parts to repair my trailer came in wrong the first time so they contacted me to keep ny trailer til the right parts came in. It took a few nonths but eventually they finished. I could not pick up the trailer for a few weeks after it was completed due to medical issues, but it was already in the yard for a few months waiting for them to repair it so they agreed ti keep it til I coupd get in to get it. I picked up the trailer and when I finally opened it up to look through it and prepare for a trip I was shocked to find mice had torn into seal bags of rice and flour in the pantry. I then noticed my carpets were full of mouse poo and smelt of urine like months of mice traveling through leaving a disaster that left my trailer smelling like a Hampster cage. I called and was told it was my fault for leaving it there the extra couple weeks because the months they had it wouldn't be the issue, no it was the extra couple weeks it took me to get the trailer after they finally finished the job. I was then asked if I had ICBC, I just paid them a 500 deductable. I was then told well don't leave food in your trailer open for mice, to which I responded the bags were completely sealed and chewed through which i have pictures of. Everything in the trailer has always been in my trailer and never were mice ever an issue and the team of proffessionals who tested and cleaned my trailer just before I dropped it off can confirm this. I will update this review after I speak to the owner. I was told he would not take responsibility for the damage by his staff today which is shocking. BBB has also been contacted and will be updated as well. I did not expose my trailer to mice their yard did. I did take a few weeks after the job was completed but the trailer was still there because they told me they were keeping it to order the parts. The work they did was great and they helped me by holding it a couple extra weeks. But I signed off on it and paid them the deductable to make sure they got paid asap because the parts took so long I did not want them to wait any longer for their work. But now they are blaming me for the mice that happened in their yard. I'm dissapointed with them to say the least but lets hope they make things right and turn this review into a better one. They do descent work but they need to do something a out the rodent problem. And when rodents infest a trailer in their care they need to be responsible for cleaning it as feces and rodent urine is toxic and I just had the trailer cleaned top to bottom I want it back clean not a health hazard.
