I had an issue with even putting drops in my eyes. They made me feel so at ease, that the drops and the exam were a breeze. I typically don't write reviews, but after conducting thorough research, I regret having my elective corrective lens implant surgery here. During one of my eye procedures, I informed Dr. Ernst that I was experiencing pain. He said he was "almost done" and continued chatting with the nurse. After the procedure, I developed an issue in one eye. At my follow-up appointment with Dr. Ernst, I said I didn't feel he was at fault. I explained my symptoms and asked for his thoughts. He immediately blamed me for poor post-operative care and claimed that my non-compliance in addressing my dry eyes was the reason for my issue. I was taken aback because I had already shared that I followed my post-operative instructions exactly as directed. Furthermore, Dr. Ernst suggested the implants due to my dry eyes. It was an uncomfortable appointment because he was very angry and stood right before me, seated in the chair. During all this, his transcriptionist is typing what he tells me. It was awful. After leaving, I realized he had never even checked the dryness of my eyes. I was instructed to return for multiple follow-ups with another doctor. Each time I visited and shared my ongoing issue, I received an eye exam without any feedback. After each appointment, I was told to return in a month. I told the doctor that each appointment required a two-hour round trip and a half day off from work, but they insisted I keep coming back. I was also trying to resolve billing issues. They kept billing my insurance despite signing a contract indicating follow-up care was included. I also had a hard time getting my consultation fee applied to the cost of my procedure. After a while, I wondered if they were trying to make more money than the huge sum I had already paid them. After I initially published this review, someone from the office called me. She restated everything Dr. Ernst said and made it clear she was unhappy about my review. I told her I was sorry she was "put in the middle" of my issue. She was even more upset when I declined to remove my review because it was truthful. The third doctor I consulted was polite, thorough, and honest. Although I did not resolve my issue, I appreciated being listened to. I made a poor decision to have this procedure here, but I don't blame them for my decision to have it. 100000/10! I can't believe I have written a review about this place! Holy Moly! In 2022 I finally did it! I got LASIK! I have been waiting it for years, I hated wearing glasses. I was legally blind in both eyes with out corrective lenses. I couldn't see my legs in the shower and at night I was starting to see less and less. It was getting to the point that contacts were uncomfortable and I couldn't stand wearing them for long periods of time. I was so scared to get LASIKs and all the unknowns. The team here really helped to explain the whole process and made me feel comfortable. My doctor was Dr. Mishra and is so detailed oriented and caring I would recommend him to anyone who asked. Amanda is the coordinator for the LASIKs and is a sweetheart- so caring and thoughtful. She ensured I knew everything and answered every question I had. And I can't write a review with talking about Jessica who held my hand the whole time while I was getting LASIK. My life was changed 100% by this team. Once I was healed and driving with my husband I started to cry and he asked me what was wrong I told "I am not upset the world is just so beautiful and I get to see it for the first time" I can not thank this team enough. read more

I'm so excited that I finally made the leap and had lasik. The Schein Ernst Mishra staff that were involved in my care were fantastic. Dr. Ernst and Amanda were pleasant and informative through the whole process. Someone held my had during the whole procedure which was so calming. I'm excited to say that my vision is 20/20 and I've retired all my glasses. The only down side of the whole process was the office staff. They were consistently either abrupt or aloof. There was one young lady that was kind and helpful (wish I knew her name) but everyone else treated me as though I was a burden to them. They also were rude to my husband while he was waiting for me during surgery. That being said, I would change my mind about having the procedure at Schein Ernst Mishra. First let me say that I have been a patient of Schein Ernst Mishra Eye for over 10 years. I absolutely love Dr. Miller. Today I had a problem with the optical center that has left me contemplating switching eye doctors all together. I called in two days ago because I broke my eye glasses and needed to get them replaced. The person I spoke to assured me that everything was covered by my insurance. Today when I walked in, I was greeted by Darren Fallon, who immediately tried to upsell me on things I didn't want. I had to ask four times where the frames were that would be covered by my insurance. He kept trying to sell me frames. As I was walking out the door, he finally showed me the over 50 options that were available to me. After all of this, he still tried to charge me $30 for the free lenses. When I reminded him that I only wear my glasses a couple minutes a day he still persisted that I needed this scratch resistance that we never discussed on my glasses. I told him again that I was leaving so he suddenly figured out how to waive the fee. I've been in sales for over 25 years and have never met a sales person as crooked as Darren Fallon! read more

I was so nervous I've probably spoken to the whole staff. If you live anywhere in US and can get to Harrisburg, Pa. this is the guy (Brett Ernst). Even though I was paying for the corrective lenses and kept asking for the near all focus lenses and willing to pay for them he kept insisting, and ultimately refused to. Weeks of research and he was so right. In a world of everyone in Medicine pushing the "upsell", this guy is only concerned with patient outcome. Got the right one done, was so nervous. I was diagnosed by my general dr with shingles on my face and very possibly in my eye. They told me to make an appt ASAP because eye problems and even blindness can develop from the dendrites in the eye. Because of the painful and burning rash on my face, I worked it out with my general dr that I could not wear a mask but we took other safety precautions when I went in. I called Schein Ernst Mishra and spoke to a wonderful woman on the phone that made my appt and said that it would not be a problem but she she just had to run it by the eye dr. I got a call from Mishra a few hours later telling me he was cancelling my appt since I could not "obey Covid protocols" and that I should call back when I was able to wear a mask. At this point, my eye was stinging, burning, red, and starting to swell. I made another appt at another eye dr that allowed me to come in in my condition and they found massive densities on my eye. They put me on meds ASAP!!! Schein Ernst Mishra does not care about the eyesight of their patients. I could have lost mine and they were just upset because I couldn't wear a mask in my condition! They didn't even try to see if we could compromise safely... he shut me down automatically! "Do no harm" obviously wasn't taught in their medical school. read more

After meeting with a few different places to get Lasik i found myself gravitating towards here. While it was a bit more pricey, their quote was spot on and included all drops and follow up appointments unlike anywhere else. All the appointments leading up to and following have been amazing. I wrote the below review 2 weeks ago, but I deleted it because I wanted to give them another chance... Unfortunately, the second attempt was unpleasant as well. I went in today to look for frames on my lunch break, and no other customer was present, and was still treated like I was an inconvenience. I was looking to be approached and assisted when I walked in, but it didn't happen. Understandable... but when I asked which section the men's glasses were in, I did expect the person to at least get out the chair and not just point at a wall. He was entering something in the computer, which I was ok with... business needs is business needs, but when he was finished, he still didn't pay me any attention and when I asked questions, he appeared to not want to assist me. Review from 2 weeks ago: Had a great visit 2 years ago, but since then, each time I visit, the experience gets worse. First time I went to the Harrisburg office, the lady assisting with the optical wear was amazing and helpful... the customer service was so great, it made me want to get an exam and buy glasses there (which I did). I was due for another exam / frames last year (per my insurance), and the person didn't even want to get up from their desk to assist me with frames, so I decided not to get anything. Fast forward to this year, I scheduled the exam before looking for frames.. the exam [in lemoyne] went great; very quick and efficient. My work schedule didn't allow me to look for frames right away, but noticed they had "late hours" on Wednesdays. I was able to move some things around in order to shop for frames during the 5-6pm timeframe, so I thought it would work out great. Lo and behold, after I made the changes to my schedule, I arrived at the Harrisburg location at 5:35, and there was a sign on the door that said they're closing early and apologized for the inconvenience. The door was open, the lights were off, but there was someone at the desk that stated they were closed and they will be open until 5pm the next day. I advised I won't be able to come in at that time because I work, hence the reason for being there on their "late" day. I then call the Lemoyne office to figure out why they closed (will review Lemoyne location as well) and Lexi stated (before she hung up on me) that the doctor had to leave early in Harrisburg. I work for a major health insurance company in the area, and I'm not well-versed on ophthalmology, but I'm 100% certain a doctor isn't required to sell or submit an order for frames/lenses. Honestly, If I didn't have to switch so many things around and sacrifice so much to get there before 6 just for the location to be closed, I would be ok, but it took me 4 days to try to get to this location, and I'm not sure when I will be able to go back. It is very unprofessional to close a business outside of working hours, especially if you have the necessary staff on location to assist customers. What's the point of posting business hours if they're not getting adhered to? At the very least, they could post something on their own website that states hours are subject to change based off of 1 person (of many) not being present at work. I'm going to follow up with them tomorrow, because when I called the Lemoyne location, the manager wasn't in, and the person that answered the phone hung up on me. I was referred to Schein Ernst Mishra by my optometrist when I decided to get LASIK. I was nervous about messing with something as precious as eyesight, but they made me feel comfortable from the very beginning. During both my consultation and my pre-op, the kind and knowledgable staff made it obvious that this was nothing scary; this was just another day in the office, something beyond routine, that they had done (literally) thousands of times. Ask every single question you have and they will answer it. During the surgery itself, they bend over backwards to help you relax - the Valium helps of course, and the pre-surgery waiting room features a bunch of comfortable chairs and HDTV. Dr. Mishra walked me through every step of the 10 minute surgery, and then bang, it was over. I tried on my old glasses just for kicks and was astonished by how strong the prescription was, and how much I no longer needed it. I had an astigmatism, so it's been a longer healing for me than for others (this is normal). By "longer", I mean that I had to wait 36 hours to drive instead of most people's 12 hours, and my nighttime halos stuck around a little longer. I am now 6 weeks out from surgery and can drive at night just fine, highway or backroads. I would get LASIK from this company again in a heartbeat. My only advice: take their advice!! Use your drops as frequently as they tell you, go to all the follow up appointments, ask every question you have. Your life is about to change for the better. read more

I went to Schein Ernst Eye Associates for a LASIK consultation. It seemed as though I was an inconvenience to the technician that examined my eyes. After my exam, I was taken to the marketing director who immediately began suggesting dates that I could come in for my pre-op exam. Never once did I meet an actual optometrist during my consultation. As I was wary about the procedure, I got a second opinion. I was informed that my eyes were too weak for the LASIK procedure and that if I were to have it, I would be at risk of a corneal transplant. Had I not gotten a second opinion and signed up for the surgery, my eyes could have been forever damaged. If you value your eyesight, I would advise going somewhere else. read more

Not kid friendly here. The Dr raised his voice at my children. My children might have moments but they are good kids! He told me when I came back to not bring my children. I had to come back for a contact fitting. The strain of getting my one child off the bus and taking care of all my children's needs before leaving and driving them 20min to the only person who could watch my children (even though I live a few blocks from this office) put me behind including trying to find my way around two closed roads. I called and said that I was late and they said I could still come even though I was late. I told them how long it would take me to get there and I was told it was fine. I get there and the desk person was not nice and very cold. She said I couldn't be seen I was way too late and I told her I wouldn't have come and would have just rescheduled when I called but I was told to come anyway and she coldly said no you can't be seen. I will not return here again. Seriously there are plenty of options in this area to be dealing with this. I had been going to this place for a 1 1/2 years & was originally assigned a doctor that I didn't want to begin with. Anyway, at my last appointment they had me plus others waiting long after the appointment time....so after 45 minutes I walked out with the receptionist acting surprised. I should have billed the doctor for my time. If he thinks his time is more important than his patients, than it is time to move on! Then I setup at a new doctors' practice & sign a form to transfer my medical records. After a week they still did not send the paper work out. Called Schein Assoc & they said that they are short staffed & don't have the time. Then I got a call from them the next day & they asked what address to send the records to & that they will send the records out that day in the mail. Well, 2 weeks later I call the new doctor practice & was told that they never received the records. So not only can Schein Assoc keep their appointments on time, they are short staffed & they lie! read more
