On the website when I signed up they specifically stated, "make sure your gymnast can practice for 3 hours!!" Out of the three hours my gymnast danced and jumped for 1 hour and 15 minutes, practiced for an hour, spent 30 minutes of warm up, (she practically was just sitting), then played a game and ate popsicles outside. I'm simply disappointed because the waste of money and effort I spent to get her into this camp was thrown away because of the lack of effort. This is a great camp for 6-8 year olds. Anyone older than that is going to be bored.

It's been almost 20 years since I left HS and math and I have never been friend. There is so much I couldn't remember. I was starting from scratch. But this semester, WOW! Math seemed fun now and passing a test, attainable. After all those years of feeling embarrassed and continually failing math, Ology really gives students confidence. I got a B in the class. Me!? (My friend took her math class from the college, had to find her own tutors, spend time in the math lab... wait "in line" to see a tutor and only receiving help from the tutors once or twice a visit. She barely passed with her extra credit assignments) At Ology, you get way better results, tutors with uniform but unique teaching styles and are readily available for homework help. Ology has additional workshops for test prep too. It's well worth the money and time. There are tutors there almost 24-7. Use them! You've payed for them. Time in the tutoring lab means a great test grade and an awesome final grade. Trust me. Students of all ages attend Ology. There is no shaming here. They basically have a no fail, fool proof way to get you past math and on your way to graduation. And if you don't pass, they got your back. But you will.

Ology isn't cheap and they will be the first to tell you it won't be easy. That said, here is what…read morethey will do for you. First, they will show you how how to enroll in the BYU Math 110 course (equivalent to UVU Math 1050) through the BYU Independent Study Program. Unlike UVU, No placement test is required to take this course. The course consists of 34 homework assignments, one pre-test, three mid-terms, and one final. The pretest and homework assignments are completed online. The mid-terms and final can be taken at the BYU Independent Study Office, the BYU Testing Center, or at an approved proctored testing facility. Here is the part I really liked. The pre-test and the three midterms can be retaken twice after the initial attempt. The final can be retaken once after the initial attempt. The fee to retake tests at BYU is $15. Also, there is no limit on the number of attempts to complete the homework assignments. Oh, they will show you how to sign up for the homework site too. By the way, I paid about $575 to BYU for this course, which includes the separate fee of $99 to access the homework website. Then, I paid Ology $1,000 for their services, which includes a structured class that covers the material, an Ology Text Book with chapters matching the homework assignments, access to their math lab w/computers and lab tutors, and free bottled water!!! Ology has a payment plan if paying $1000 up front isn't possible for you. I believe if you utilize the payment plan option it comes out to $1,100. Ology also offers a "pass or don't pay guarantee." This "guarantee" is a contract between you and Ology that basically states that if you put in the work they will pay for you to re-take the class and that includes both the BYU and Ology fees. You, the student, have to show up to class, don't be more than 15 minutes late, complete the homework assignments on schedule (Ology's schedule, not BYU's) - since BYU doesn't really have one) and miss no more than five days of class throughout the term. The first two missed class periods can be made up in the math lab, the next three you would have to make up through their private tutoring service which is $30/hour. UVU accepts BYU Math 110 as transfer credit meeting the UVU Math 1050 Course. To do this you must have a minimum combined total score of 150 points or higher on the three midterms and 50 points or higher on the Final. Each mid-term and the final are worth 100 points each. I believe your online pre-test score must be 50 points or higher. You also must get 100% on the homework assignments, which sounds hard but it's not, given the resources you will have available to you, such as the math lab tutors and your teacher. Also, wolframalpha.com can be very helpful. Another big help that Ology offers is they have and willingly distribute midterms and finals given to BYU Math 110 students from past semesters. Even though the questions aren't the same the concepts are and they were in the same order as the mid-terms and final I took. My teacher at Ology was AMAZING!!! Not only did she know math she also knew how to teach it, which is significant. She would give use the option to chose being taught a detailed lesson on a particular concept or just what we would need to know to pass, which I really liked. Unfortunately, there are teachers/tutors at Ology who have no business teaching but despite not being good teachers they do know math. I would ask questions very specific in nature but the answer would be far from what I was looking for. There was a point that I thought I wouldn't be able to pass math but I did. In all, I paid about $2,000 including private tutoring, but it was money well-spent in my opinion. Now, math is behind me and graduation is closer.

AVOID THE AFTER HOURS PROGRAM AT ALL COSTS!!!…read more Dev Mountain wasn't a horrible experience for me by any means. The instructors were awesome, and certainly did the best they could to teach you to code in a short amount of time. However, the bottom-line is that Dev Mountain is a double-edged sword. Is it a waste of time? Yes and No. If you can afford to pay $10,000 and take the Immersive course - I would recommend that you do so. They will teach you the front and back end side of development, and will provide some type of job placement. However, if you cannot afford the Immersive course, or cannot simply be in class all day - DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE AFTER HOURS CLASS! It is a complete waste of money and time. Some people may argue otherwise, as people certainly have found jobs from the After Hours class. However, there are a number of things to be aware of when it comes to this course. 1. Dev Mountain will not acknowledge or support their after-hours students. Once you "graduate" from the after-hours program you will not receive ANY support or job placement from Dev Mountain. If someone contacts Dev Mountain to ask about you, they will not say you know what you're doing because you simply haven't had enough hours in development to receive their endorsement. You get as much credit from them as if you never took the course in the first place. 2. You learn nothing about the back-end. All you learn is simple front-end development in HTML, CSS, some jQuery, and AngularJS. With the Immersive you learn both front and back end - an important thing when looking for a developer job. 3. The most important thing that almost all jobs I was looking for to get in as an entry-level developer is a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. This is almost the main thing all people looking for Junior Developers are looking for. If you truly want to get into coding - go this route and avoid a coding boot camp. Now, DevMountain will tell you that they offer an advanced after-hours course to teach the back end which is true. But ask them how many people actually sign up for it. They've had to cancel it twice as no one has any interest in doing so after they take the regular after-hours course and find out that they've just wasted $5,000. They claim that over 90% of their students find jobs, but these figures are for the people who took the Immersive class. If they kept stats of how many after-hours graduates find jobs (which I'm sure they don't because they simply don't care about these students after they have their money) I would think that the placement figures would be around 1%-5%. Which means almost 95% of after-hours students just wasted $5,000. In the end, I would like to see Dev Mountain just get rid of the after-hours course because it's just a rip off. If you are going to go to Dev Mountain - take the Immersive course, or don't go at all. I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly don't have $5,000 to waste. I could have taken it out and burned it and I would have ended up with the same results. Dev Mountain is supposedly run by ethical LDS people. If this is the case, I would hope that one day they would do the right thing and get rid of the after hours course and just offer the Immersive one. If you can't afford $10,000, then find a better way to spend your money.

After a few weeks of DevMoutain I was able to more effectively communicate with the development teams and better understand what could and couldn't be feasibly built. My designs got better and I gained confidence in myself as we built our individual projects each week in class. DevMountain gets you coding from week 1 in front end and backend technologies, so you understand how web applications work and have experience doing it all. They give you the tools to decide which area of development you're good at and enjoy, so you can make a career decision and pursue it. It was awesome. Every night we wrote code with teachers and mentors to help us when we got stuck, giving you context that online tutorials can't match. While I was a little ticked to find out that there wasn't a class in the SLC area in all of March, I hoofed it out to Provo to their Red Cross class. The facility isn't much to write home about, but they have all the equipment to get top-flight training. Their training is "blended", meaning you spend most of the time learning online, then you come to class to put into practice what you've learned. The training was conducted by Ted Bisping, who did a good job not just with the material, but "real-life" scenarios he had personally experience. We spent half the class in expanding on the basics, the second practicing scenarios. Of course, there was work on the CPR dummies (clean, shiny, and brand-spanking new!) You really have to put this part in action because there's a lot of physicality when giving around 100 compressions a minute! For the First Aid, we worked with partners on treating severe wounds. Bloody good training, so-to-speak. They also had a baby / child CPR section that used baby dummies. I was also a little ticked the thing was scheduled for an hour, and it ran 90+. After getting out of the stuffy room and home and getting my certificate, I was a little more pleased with the whole experience. They genuinely loved and cared for my daughter. Some of the teachers even took my number and texted me pictures of her throughout the day, which I appreciated as an anxious, new mother. Some of the buildings and toys are old, yes, but the teachers are all qualified and caring. They kept a detailed record of when my infant daughter, ate and slept. They made sure she had her own, designated crib and labeled all her pacifiers and bottles. My daughter needs special formula and they always made sure to not mix it up with anyone else's food. They were awesome with my infant daughter, but they were just as great with older children. When the older kids fought or got in trouble they didn't just punish them and move on. They taught them why what they did was wrong, and how they could make it better, how to apologize to the wronged parties and helped the kids to learn how to correct their behavior. I recommend Adventure Time to anyone who is looking for child care, from infants to children!
