A large group of family from Virginia and California was visiting Clarksburg, WV, and our host ordered a Sicilian pizza from Vito's (his favorite local pizza joint) for take-out. For those unaware, "Sicilian pizza" is typically a square or rectangular variety of cheese pizza with a thick and crunchy crust, and an airy interior. Food. Our host ordered a huge, thick 16"x16" pepperoni and sausage Sicilian pizza that had 16 square slices. The taste was amazing. I loved the pizza overall, but especially the crunchy crust. If I were to order it again, I'd probably skip the pepperoni as it was a bit too spicy for my personal taste, and I would add some veggie toppings (mushrooms, black olives, tomatoes, onions) -- but surely each of us has our own personal favorites. The value was also excellent. A one topping, large Sicilian pizza is $21, plus $2.50 for the extra topping. Five adults and a toddler shared the pizza; a few slices were left over. Service. As mentioned, our host ordered our pizza for take-out. It was ready at the promised time, and was still hot when it reached our dinner table. read more

I'm giving Vito's a perfect score. I love authentic NY style pizza and always will go out of my way to get it. I was on my way to Morgantown and did some Yelp searches for NY Style along the way. I found Vito's. The place has all the Italian pizza joint vibes. From the traditional Italy colors to the decor, and right down to the employees. You walk in and it's clean and spacious. Behind the long front counter the employees are working hard to get every order right. The aroma in the place is enough to drive you crazy. Italian good bonanza. I walked up and who I presume was the the owner from his accent checked me out with my order. Outstanding service. And I must also mention the lady who took my phone order was so nice. She even asked some questions to make sure I wasn't missing anything on my order. I ordered a pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and onions. The pizza looks fabulous. The cheese is some of the best I've had. Not greasy. The sausage is the star. Nice and spicy Italian. They aren't shy with the topping either. The crust had that nice soft thin interior with a crunchy outside. I also ordered two pepperoni rolls. These were very good. Great dough. Plenty pepperoni but could use a little more cheese. I am so happy I found Vito's. It's in my top two NY Style in the state of WV. Vito's and Grazianos in Charleston are top notch. I'll be making this stop more often on my trips to Morgantown. Called in 20minutes before to order pizza and waited another 10minutes inside of the restaurant for our order, and the pizza never looked fresh or not even hot. Temperature was like warm but about to cool down, and of course cheese was dried up. What is the point driving up here and eat pizza. The purpose is to eat hot fresh pizza just out of oven, if i wanted to eat cold pizza with dried up cheese, i would've just stay on this rainy day and waiting for pizza to be delievered from somewhere else. The man who was baking pizza, was not even try to solve our issue and very unprofessional response to us. I'm 21 weeks pregnant and this is the most ridiculous dinner experience ever. read more

I mean it was good. It was food. My moms is kinda better. The hoagies were huge and were my favorite. The environment was a little uncomfortable. The staff was still, after 2.5 years, wearing msks. I order the Italian sub for $9.00. Sold cold no option to have it toasted. The bun was huge and split on the top so it looks like the meat is overflowing. Not the case. The 3 slices on meat were tasteless. No pepperoni, pepporchini, capicola or tomato slices. The tomato was just a few diced. No mayo or mustard. Lettuce was chopped and brown on the edges. I have had better Italian subs at Subway or Jimmy Johns. Not going back. read more

First time ordering from here, total garbage food. $60 for 2 pizzas and 2 steak hoagies. They messed up the toppings and forgot a hoagie. They claimed that the order taker only heard me say 1 hoagie over the phone, and that my phone kept beeping/cutting in and out so I was hard to hear haha. Classic family-run pizza joint. A must try if you are in the Clarksburg area. Vito himself will often take your order. Be prepared when you step up to the counter, he's a no-nonsense type of guy (think Seinfeld's soup nazi). They have New York style round pizza, and thick crust square pizza. They also have delicious calzones. The menu includes pepperoni rolls, pastas, subs and a couple salads. You can buy pizza by the slice and they are usually running a pizza special. I had heard great things from my Nutter Fort coworkers. My experience has been less than stelaar, both dine in and takeout. The owner is kind of like the pizza version of Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi." Dine in, I had a pepperoni roll with cheese and a salad. The salad could have used more veggies on it, and the pepperoni roll was hard in spots. I ate it, but wasn't up to snuff compared to my coworkers' ranting and raving. Today was the second experience- carry out brought to our office. Their pizza is definitely the way to go. The dough is good, the cheese is provolone that seems to harden quickly while cooling and isn't stringy like a blend would be. They did not skimp on the toppings. Of the various pizzas we ordered, the pepperoni and pineapple was my fave. Pizza Al's in Morgantown beats this place by a long shot. But not bad food- just okay. read more

Came here to place a to-go order, ordered a 14" (medium) cheese pizza with a large drink (rang up to $13.57). The customer service at the register wasn't that great... he/owner (AKA Pizza Nazi by locals) seemed more interested in his regulars and I had to go backup once to get my receipt and then again for my drink when I was sitting fairly close to them (and the place had 3 tables with people so it was very empty). I waited about 10 minutes for my pizza and was on my way. The pizza was hot and fair in taste but nothing really outstanding.. I probably would have been just as content had I gone to a chain pizza place (such as Little Caesars next door). The atmosphere looked like an over-sized ran-down deli. read more

They have a delicious traditional Italian style circle pizza as well as a REALLY thick crust that I recommend for anyone out of town to try out! We a party of 6 showed up at 8:30 PM and according to the website was an hour til closing time and we were rudely greeted with "We close at 9". We proceeded with our orders had them written down and again was rudely told that we would have to take our food elsewhere to eat it. I find this very unprofessional, rude, and false advertisement posting one time and closing at another. I will NOT GO BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT EVER AND NEITHER WILL MY FAMILY! read more

Late lunch we went in starving and thought we could both eat an entire calzone a piece. Well we we're wrong. The calzones were made from fresh yeast while we waited with mozarella and ricotta cheese served freshly baked with a homemade tomato sauce. The man who took our order had a beautiful Italian accent which only confirmed the authenticity of this dine in experience. We both took half of our calzones home as leftovers and I got an extra 2 tomato sauces to take home as well. Incredibly full for $20=winning! Been there twice. First time the pizza was ok but I didn't notice that there was a minimum amount for credit card purchases (which I believe is illegal in WV) and tea refills were not free. So I drank most of my tea before my pizza was done and then had to eat with nothing to drink because I didn't have cash and their minimum credit card purchase requirement (again, which I believe is illegal in WV). The second time I went there I made sure to bring cash to cover any refills but my pizza was WAY too greasy! I don't believe that I will be going back after this second time. read more

Ordered a steak and cheese sub this late afternoon and a pizza with extra sausage. My better half got the sub cause that is usually her favorite at this restaurant. The meat was burnt and half as much as usual, there was no peppers or onions on the sub and the bread was very dry. The pizza had very little sausage let alone extra. Excellent sauce, both the traditional pies and the Sicilian are fabulous... Toppings are fresh and the quality has always been consistent.. A bit pricey but worth it, the older gentleman who is there, not sure if he's the owner, could certainly use a more friendly personality...
