I was at Mama Di Roma last night, for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. The food was good, but the service I received was not. I could tell the waitress was having a very stressful evening, so I didn't want to cause a scene or take it out on her. This is especially true since the restaurant seemed to be very understaffed for a Friday evening. I believe there were three people waiting on the entire restaurant, with customers sitting far apart from each other. It also seemed like at least one, maybe two of the waitresses were new and needed better training. It took 30 minutes for two of our party to be asked what they wanted to drink. It probably took over an hour to place our orders. When the waitress was removing the salads, she spilled dark brown balsamic vinegar salad dressing on my pants and on my expensive boots. I probably spent 15 minutes of my dinner time trying to remove the dressing from my clothes. When I got back to the table, I noticed that there was more dressing still dripping from the table that I hadn't gotten completely cleaned up before going to the back to try to clean myself up. This caused yet another trip to the back to clean myself up. While I was cleaning myself up, I heard a loud argument between the waitress and who I believe may have been the owner. I don't know how the argument started or the full scope of it but hearing that made me feel uncomfortable and feel bad for the waitress. At one point, I heard the male employee yell, "Get the hell out of here and don't come back!" I'm not assigning blame to who was at fault for that as I did not witness the beginning, but it was a very awkward experience. When some of the food arrived, there was a lot of confusion over what the food was, and who ordered what. There was also confusion on whose bill was whose. Two of the bills were incorrectly combined. The waitress knew she did a bad job, last night. She was apologetic and said she hoped we'd come back and that she would do a better job next time. She also got me a rag to clean up with. I do wish the restaurant would have done a little more though. I don't want to see anything bad happen to her, because she was friendly and apologetic. I understand people have off days, and that is the first time I've seen that happen at Mama Di Roma. Surprisingly, I do think I was able to get the dressing removed from my pants and boots, so there was no permanent damage. However, the entirety of the situation warranted at the very least the manager or owner coming to our table to address the situation. Having the meal comped or at the very least a discount, a free drink, a free dessert, etc. would have gone a long way to make the situation right - especially when I spent so much time cleaning up the mess that was made on me. The lack of proper staffing and training was apparent in the body language of the customers at other tables in the restaurant, as well. Mama Di Roma is my favorite Italian restaurant around here and I typically get great food and service. However, last night, after spending close to $100 for my girlfriend's birthday dinner, I was not satisfied with the experience. I was even more dissatisfied that nothing was even attempted to make things right. I called the restaurant to discuss the situation and spoke to the owner. I didn't want to leave a review before doing so. The was friendly and said they were not prepared for the large crowd last night. I brought up the issue of the dressing being spilled on me, and he said he remembered. He asked if the food was alright, and I said it was very good. It would have been nice if something had been offered for the poor experience, but it was not, and I was not going to ask for it. Really, the gesture of trying to make things right is more important to me than the monetary value of it, and there was really nothing done to make things right. I would give this place five stars for the food, three stars for the value, and one star for the service. I will give this place another chance, and if things are better next time, I will update my review to reflect that. My suggestion would be that when there are problems, the manager or owner should personally address the table and make a small gesture to try to make things right. As expensive as things are now, I wouldn't expect to have a $100 meal comped, but 20% off or a free drink/dessert would have been a small gesture to show that they cared, as would have a visit from the manager/owner. read more

They refuse the dressing you don't finish off of your plate and put it back in the main bucket to be served, so if u have ate the house dressing you have ate hundreds of other peoples back wash. I used to work there but I quit tonight, at my shift yesterday he asked me how to delete things​ off of his phone so his wife wouldn't see that he cheated on her while she was pregnant and still is. VERY STRANGE PERVERTED THING TO ASK YOUR EMPLOYEE. I personally know his wife so that made things worse. But the reason I quit is because he is verbally abusive, he has screamed and cussed me across the restaurant in front of other people. Grabbed me by my wrist, jerked things out of my hand. Today I was craving pizza and decided to order from Mama Di Roma , downtown Fairmont. Ive ordered there several time and although its definitely pricey, I found the food to be worth it. I have a family of 6 so it costs me quite a pretty penny to eat there. I called to place my order. A women answered the phone and I told her I'd like to place an order for pick up. She asked what I wanted so I slowly and clearly began my order I could tell English was not her first language so I didn't want to rush I ordered the following: Steak Sub deluxe w/works but no cheese, no tomato, no mushroom Steak and Cheese sub w/works no peppers Steak and Cheese sub w/ works no mushroom Sausage parmigiana sub  w/ lite sauce, add mushroom Kids meal- stuffed shells Large Pepperoni Pizza When I got to the Sausage sub I asked what comes on the sub. At this point I heard a male voice VERY rudely shout, "How many more things you want, how many, how many!" I thought, surely hes  talking to someone else. I continued with placing my order. The women on the phone said ok to be sure she wanted to repeat everything back to me. She started at the top. She had the first 3 subs wrong. I waited till she was done speaking and politely said you have the subs wrong I would like.... At that moment the rude male voice came on the line and shouted at me,"what you want on it? Just tell me what you want. " Appalled by his rudeness, I once again started to repeat my order. I want a steak Sub Deluxe w/work but no cheese, no tomato, no mushroom Yet AGAIN he shouted over me several times , what you want on it! Do you know this SOB then shouted" I asked what you want on it why do you have to be so damn complicated." At this point I literally said I don't want anything and you just lost a customer F$%& YOU! I was so upset. I order what we wanted right off of their menu, reading it to them exact to try and help with clarity. Apparently they were out of broccoli but asked if would be ok with spinach. My friend said yes. Well he liked it better that way so the next time he order that dish he requested spinach the told him they wouldn't do it. No substitutions. They told him he has to have it the way it is. He explained that they were the ones who suggested it when they were out of broccoli and he like it so if they would please just give him spinach, They said NO! Passing through Fairmont and decided to stop for dinner. Looked on Yelp and this place had good reviews. It did not disappoint. The location is convenient, the service (Javier was our waiter) was prompt, courteous and attentive...mind you, it wasn't busy at 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday...but these days service seems to be a thing of the past. Javier was great. We decided on a salad and a simple white pizza to see if the place could deliver on quality. I'm a Sicilian from New York, and I know pizza. It was truly delicious! The crust was superb, right to the last bite. There was plenty of mozzarella and ricotta, and just the right amount of garlic and basil. The salads were made as requested (I don't do raw onion or peppers) and there was plenty of feta on my partners greek salad to share with me on my house salad. Garlic rolls were a nice touch. I've been here twice now. The first time the staff were not necessarily friendly but they got me my food without issue. The food was outstanding and for what I ordered (half tray of chicken parm), the price was great. The second time I ordered however, the service left a lot to be desired. I would go as far as to say the staff, to include who I assume is the owner, were incredibly rude. On top of that, they couldn't have screwed up my order any worse and it was wildly expensive. Zero effort was made to correct the order either. I was treated as if I'm the one who cooked the wrong food in the wrong quantity. You would think that a newer business would put extra effort into their customer service as a means of building a clientele base, but the idea is lost on this establishment. I'm giving two stars because the food is good, but if you appreciate good service, look elsewhere. They're not the only Italian food game in town. read more

I had heard good things about this restaurant both in terms of delicious food and large servings. Sadly, I was disappointed by both when I ordered the $17 gluten-free ravioli. The serving size for this entree was comparable to a child's serving...small plate with a single layer of ravioli. About half of the ravioli were not quite cooked long enough as the crimped edges were tough and chewy. The entrees that the rest of my table received were much larger. We were very excited to have a new restaurant right here in Fairmont. Location is super convenient with lots of on street parking available. Had a group of eight people so we all tried a wide variety of dishes. Everyone was VERY happy with their meal with the exception of my husband who was not overly impressed with the spaghetti. But another in our group had it and liked it very well. There was a seafood pasta dish that was fabulous and I had a layered eggplant Parmesan dish that I will definitely go back for!
