Dr. Lagana did my bunion surgery on my left foot maybe 7 or 8 years ago. Did a fantastic job. My right foot needs it done now along with some hammer toes I think. I tried to set up appointment with him but he doesn't contract with my insurance coverage I am so disappointed. So I've been seen Dr Lagaña now for about a year and I highly recommend him.. he listens to the patient, he interacts with the patient. He's an amazing Dr. he's very knowledgeable and explains everything. He answers all of my questions. He has never been to busy for me always takes his time. He has a wonderful sense of humor he's really down to earth. He works wonders with injections he makes it as comfortable as possible. Again I highly recommend this Dr.. prime care itself is another story. It's hard to get through to Salinas to schedule so I always call Monterey. Once you get through he's worth it. Dr. Lagana is a very friendly doctor who is cheerful and polite. However as a podiatrist I am not impressed with the care I received. I'm a diabetic with bad toenail problems and I have pain in the bottom of my right foot. Dr. Lagana didn't even trim my nails which other podiatrists have done for me and he didn't really do an exam of my right foot. I'm definitely disappointed with this doctor and will be looking elsewhere for a better podiatrist. The front office staff here aren't friendly and the waiting area is overly crowded and precautions for Covid are overlooked. read more

Dr. Lagana is the most wonderful foot doctor ever!! My foot was pretty crippled up & malformed from a surgery that was botched by another foot doctor 8 years ago. Dr. Lagana was quite frank & honest when he looked at my foot. He said he wouldn't make any promises because one toe was so bad he wasn't sure if it could be fixed at all! I told him ANYTHING would be better than what it was and so he did the surgery. Well he was able to save all my toes & now I can wear shoes & walk again! Maybe not shake my hips so much like before & can't go long distances yet, but I can walk! yay! Dr. Lagana is handsome, likeable and very easy to talk to. Took my Dad to see him about his feet; Dad is 93 this year. Old Army warhorse and does not generally admit or acknowledge when he is in pain; but his feet had been bothering him. He has a bunion too, but it's too far gone for surgery. But he has some other foot pain and Dr Lagana did some simple but tactical trimming. Dad felt so much better! Furious with this office. Sent me to collections after two years of not receiving a bill. Was told that my insurance did not pay and never received a phone call or letter. They say they did, but are not able to pull up any history to tell me when. They work from two different offices, so if you call on the wrong day they may not be able to help you with your information and you'll get stuck waiting to call another day. I never have had any issue like this before with any other office not being able to reach me by phone or mail so I'm having a hard time believing this office and I'd never return here again after this fiasco. How can I pay a bill if I never receive it? Have been at same address for (and same phone number) for YEARS! UPDATE: Finally found out regarding my billing that they waited 2 years and 4 months to submit a claim to my insurance company. What a huge mess. Had a bad experience in the Monterey office. I got a call saying that they needed my address, because bill went to wrong address. Then next day get another call asking if I received the bill. What?? How can I receive bill when barely asked for address the evening before. Then get an email saying if I don't pay it in 2 days I will be sent to collections. The bill was for our copay, the girl in the front Laura says I did not pay. I looked up my papers to see if I already paid copay and I did in the office with proof of receipt, had to send to her for proof. When she called I could barely hear her, asked her to please speak up several times, but she did not. I wanted to ask the Dr. a question and left a message, but he never called me back. Laura is the one I left message with. Then I called again, wasn't there, so I asked for his email. She gave me an email address, I emailed him and never got a response. I got the X-rays from their Salinas office and now found a new podiatrist. The New Podiatrist said the X-rays should have showed the sides of ankles and not just the fronts, they were not good X-rays. read more

I've only had GREAT experiences with Vic and his office staff. They are very professional. Vic has a GREAT "bed-side" manner. He's very knowledgeable, and is a skilled diagnostician. He's able to xray you in his office and immediately determine the problem. What I love about him is that he gives you options for treatments, and lets you decide what you can handle. Do you want to try full-on, put your foot in ice baths first? Do you want pills or do you want therapy? Are you going to need to walk pain-free in two weeks for two weeks? He is not only empathetic, he is funny! And, if he gives you a cortisone shot, he's totally fine with many f-bombs dropping around him! As far as billing problems, I've never experienced any problems with this office. Because I used to have a close friend who was a doc, I was acutely aware that if I didn't get billed, then my insurance didn't get billed, and she wouldn't get paid. To make sure this wouldn't happen, I always place a hard copy of my appt from my calendar in a file I call phys/pharm. Every month, when I pay my bills, I check this file to make sure I've been billed. If we want our docs to be there for us when we need them, then the least we can do is to make sure they get paid. read more

It pains me to write this review, because of the pain I was in... However, Dr. Lagana made the pain go away. March of 2014 I was having an issue that required me to get a shot in the foot, yes in the FOOT. Not an experience you want to write home about, or shall I say Yelp about. Dr. Lagana performed an osteotomy on my right foot for Hallux Limitus in 2008. I could not have asked for a more knowledgeable and competent surgeon. Unfortunately I had to relocate out of country before he could do the same surgery on my left foot. I subsequently had surgery on my left foot in 2012 by another doctor in another state and have had so many problems with that foot. The foot that Dr. Lagana performed surgery on and corrected is perfect!!! He's is a wonderful surgeon/doctor and I cannot recommend him enough! read more

My first experience with a podiatrist and I could not be happier. Great folks up front in the office, very personal and friendly. Once screened I spent time with Dr. Lagana explaining my ailment and he actually took the time to listen to me. A plus for me as many physicians will size you up when you walk through the door, prescribe you some pills and pat you on the @ss on your way out the door. I drive all the way from Los Angeles to see Dr. Lagana...that speaks volumes as no other podiatrist even comes close to the professionalism, kindness and expertise that Dr. Lagana and his staff have. I have a very busy schedule and hate to waste time so the efficiency and intelligence of the front desk staff is very important to me. I love how quickly things flow in the office...I never have to wait very long when I have an appointment and there is always someone who can answer any questions that I have when I call. As for my surgery: The process couldn't have gone smoother. Each person on the staff, from the nurses to the anesthesiologist, were so friendly and made me feel relaxed throughout the process. Dr. Lagana made my experience a breeze! I had bunion surgery, which is where bone on the side of your big toe protrudes, and this surgery was comfortable and very fast. He explained how it was done, what I needed to do for it to heal and have minimal pain. In fact, he and his surgical staff were so attentive, i have had hardly to take any pain meds. I too have experienced the billing issues with this office, however that didn't keep me from returning to visit because Dr Lagana was amazing last time with my foot and he didn't disappoint this visit either. I brought up with him the past issues and he said if it happens again to please contact him in person. If we don't get billed he doesn't get paid so its not a win win for either party . I find him knowledgeable and willing to answer any question I had. As a fellow runner he was knowledgeable about common injuries and no surgical solutions. After being blown off as "just a stress fracture" by a sport med MD in Monterey I appreciated him taking the time to address my concerns that that's not what this is as well as do an in office X-ray and follow up MRI. Still not diagnosed but back to running and feeling better with a little K-tape and reassurance that its not a stress fracture. read more

Let me start by saying that Dr. Lagana is a 5 star doctor! He has a great bedside manner. I love the honesty in explaining the options for my Achilles tendon condition. One of the options was PRP Injection. I didn't know anything about this procedure but with the info provided by Dr. Lagana & an internet search I was willing to try this procedure versus surgery. I'm glad I did! It's been nearly 5 months since my PRP Injection & my Achilles tendon condition is greatly improved. I had a great experience with Dr. Lagana. For a few years I've been dealing with a painful lump on the bottom of my foot. I've seen a couple other local podiatrist in the area, who kept insisting that I would need surgery to remove it(which would've had me off my feet for several weeks). Dr Lagana is not your typical Podiatrist. He is pretty quick-witted and has a great sense of humor. I feel he is a great doctor that cares for his patients. His office, on the other hand ain't so great. They can't seem to follow his instructions or mine regarding prescription delivery. Ever have to try 3 times to get a prescription filled? It is not very pleasant. I'll take the hit on part of it, because his office was awaiting lab test results which madmen for one false start. I guess I need to find a new lab as well. I had pain in my left foot for weeks, and it wasn't getting any better. It was affecting my walking and exercising. A friend of mine told me about Dr. Lagana. Trusting her advice I called for an appointment. When I entered the podiatrist office I was greeted warmly and told he would be right with me. I felt like I was sitting with a friend as he examined my foot. He was gentle, conversational, showed sincere empathy, and kept a good sense of humor about him. He suggested what was wrong and gave me options for treatment. The conservative treatment I choose wasn't working so I went back for another visit. This time I told him to go ahead with the other option, which involved a needle injection in my foot! I was fearful, but there was only a bit of discomfort for a very brief moment. His talking with me through the procedure relaxed me and he showed skillful administration of the medicine. My previous experience with podiatrists hadn't been so positive; however, I will gladly recommend Dr. Lagana to anyone looking for an excellent podiatrist. read more
