I have a very busy schedule and hate to waste time so the efficiency and intelligence of the front desk staff is very important to me. I love how quickly things flow in the office...I never have to wait very long when I have an appointment and there is always someone who can answer any questions that I have when I call. As for my surgery: The process couldn't have gone smoother. Each person on the staff, from the nurses to the anesthesiologist, were so friendly and made me feel relaxed throughout the process. In fact, I enjoyed them so much I was kind of sad when the surgery was over since we were having such a fun time chatting. Dr. Lagana even called me the day after surgery to see how I was doing...no doctor does that! It was the best since I felt like he took pride in his work and genuinely cared about my wellbeing. Dr, Smith purported to repair my foot which had arthritis. He attempted to fix a slight hammer toe but instead he made it horribly pronounced instead. It is quite painful now where there was no pain there before the surgery. The hammer toe now overlaps my large toe. Further, my toes look like a Dr. Suess cartoon gone wrong. He shortened my little toe so much that for the first year after the surgery I was WALKING ON TOP OF IT. Orthotics have helped a little bit in keeping my toe from rolling UNDER my foot. An orthopedic surgeon I consulted later said the unsatisfactory result was likely caused by the original surgeon rushing through the job. The whole foot now looks deformed; before the surgery it looked like a normal foot. Dr. Smith does not appear to be a serious man. He also is a lousy comedian. Seek help from him at your peril.

My first impression was really great considering I felt they were really thoughtful about patient insurance situations, etc. and the fact that they were friendly and had a good sense of humor. However, the second time I visited, I was quite appalled by the fact that the doctor didn't have the decency to look or glance at my chart BEFORE seeing me. The conversation was repetitive, as I had heard much of the same thing in my first visit. It was as if he didn't even remember me coming in the first time. I was especially disgruntled when he gave me the SAME diagnosis as the first visit and gave me the exact same "take-home treatment" even though I said that this was what he had done the first visit. He continued to argue with me until he actually looked at my chart, and conceded. After that, he left the room in a hurry to attend to another patient and didn't even finish answering my questions. In the end, I would definitely not recommend him to another person. Additionally, his billing was ridiculous since it appeared that I was billed for every little procedure, which was REPEATED at the second visit. I was lucky enough to get an appointment rather quickly with Dr. Halamendaris. Within 5 minutes of meeting him, and his review of my most recent MRI, he opined that I can continue to do the things I am trying to make work, but nothing will "fix" me without surgery. I said let's do it. Surgery was done 3 weeks later and I woke up from surgery and have been 100% pain free from that day. I am so appreciative of Dr. Halamendaris and the outcome of this surgery. Since the beginning of this year, I have been trying to schedule an appointment. Instead of helping me move forward, the assistant told me that Dr. Holamandara would not see me until I had an MRI. She instructed me to ask my primary care physician to order it. That made no sense because the specialist is the one requesting the MRI and should be responsible for providing the appropriate referral or coordinating the necessary steps. Because I had previously seen Dr. Pativanda for the same condition, I was then told that they would contact Dr. Pativanda's office to request the MRI referral. That was over four months ago. Since then, I have called both offices every couple of weeks asking for an update. Dr. Holamandara's office and Dr. Pativanda's office are located directly across from each other in the same building, yet no one seems able to communicate or provide answers. Neither office has followed up with me, returned my calls with a solution, or taken ownership of resolving the issue. The lack of communication, coordination, and accountability has delayed my medical care for months. As a patient, I should not have to spend months chasing down referrals and repeatedly calling multiple offices just to get a simple answer. Patients deserve timely communication, clear guidance, and staff who are willing to help instead of passing responsibility to someone else. I hope this office improves its patient care and communication because no one seeking medical treatment should have to go through this experience.
