Now, with Dr. Vivian Liu, my experience is totally different! Dr. Liu is not only the best dentist I have ever met, but I think a bit of a magician as well! She is able to do wonders in my mouth and calm my fears at the same time. A huge piece of my front tooth had cracked off and she did a fabulous job of repairing it. And she does the cleanings herself. Totally on top of all the pandemic protocols so there were no fears in that area as well. read more

So now, I have been coming here with my kids for a few years. I found something that worth noting for an update comments. For you parents who wonder why almost every dentist recommends all these braces and stuff for kids... is it really necessary? Well, first off, I know we aren't paying for it, insurance pays part of it... so it doesn't cost us that much. So with 7 siblings in my in law family, 5 out of 7 requires braces and procedure, that's like 11 children! Well, I asked Dr. Liu the same question and to my surprise (my kids don't have the best looking teeth, in fact, one of them got a gap between his front teeth), she said not necessary. Now I don't know how much the generalist (dentists) made off these recommendations and referrals but I'm sure it matters. That's why I appreciate people who gives honest opinions instead of trying to make personal gain from making referrals. Honest dentist is hard to find. I think I'm good. P.S. I almost forgot that I once chipped my tooth over 10 years ago when I was seeing another dentist, she asked me to do a procedure and drilled and put a new patch on my teeth to "fix" the chip. It hurts for a few months (I don't have cavity, why drill my tooth?) and cost me a bunch. A few months ago, I chipped one of my teeth and it felt sharps so I came to Dr. Liu and all she did is polish it down and said no need to pay extra to fix it. She could easily do the similar procedure but she didn't... now that's what I called great ethic. read more

Okay, so Dr. Liu is really cute and really funny. Her office manager is well organized and welcoming. Her dental assistant is a little quiet so I'm not sure what to make of her, but overall the human element of her office is good. Also, it's really cool that when she takes x-rays she puts them up on a big screen TV so you can see them in detail and I really appreciated that she took the time to explain to me what was going on with all of my teeth. She is definitely knowledgeable and isn't trying to sell you a special toothbrush or anything like that, which is in keeping with my preference for dentists over salespeople. However, during the actual cleaning I had I could feel my own spittle landing all over my face which was really quite unpleasant and which is something I've never experienced in any other dentist's office. Also, while she did floss my teeth which is something that other dentist's haven't done, she didn't pick at my teeth with the metal scraper thingy either which is something my previous dentist always did which made me wonder about the thoroughness of the tartar removal I was getting. For these reasons, I am giving Dr. Liu a 3 star rating instead of a 4 or 5 star rating though I would like to say for posterity that she is really an enjoyable person. read more

Dr. Liu is definitely one of the most professional and kind dentists in the Bay Area. Her dental office assistant Nicole was very professional and always followed through to ensure that my daughters were scheduled for their 6 months cleaning appointment in a timely manner. Dr. Liu has the best bedside manners. My three daughters had an excellent experience with her care. She provided a pleasant experience to one of my daughter's who refused to go to the dentist for years. My other daughter had a chipped tooth and she fixed it to perfection! Thank you Dr. Liu! Best dentist visit I've ever had in my life. Dr. Liu is personable, professional and hilarious. Yes, I said hilarious :) She introduced herself right away and explained the rundown of my appointment. After getting my x-rays, she thoroughly reviewed them with me and explained what was going on with my teeth and gums without talking down to me or using dental jargon that I don't understand. During the cleaning (which she performed herself), she was talking throughout the process to keep me at ease. At the end of my appointment, we talked about floss and she sent me home with some samples. While no one likes to go to the dentist, I can honestly say I wouldn't mind seeing her again in six months for my next cleaning. I appreciated the fact that she didn't try to upsell me on dental fads or procedures that I probably don't need to do like other dentists have done to me in the past. My daughter (3 years old) had her first visit today and it was such a good one. Dr Liu was so warm and friendly which made it so comfortable for us both. She got a cleaning and of course got to pick something out of the treasure box. She was a happy girl which made me a happy/proud mama! ( no cavities ) She even asked if we could come back tomorrow when we got in the car. I'm happy my daughter loves her Dentist. Definitely a good thing. read more

Dr Vivian Liu is the best and greatest dentist out there. I have been to a few dentist over the course of my life. None has ever been as informing as Dr Liu. From my very first visit i knew that i was going to be a "patient for life". Going to the dentist is one of those things we all dread it wont be after your first visit. She is genuine person with a great positive attitude. My first visit went great. My second visit was sort of an emergency, she closes at 6 i believe and actually stayed back and scheduled me in at 6 to take care of an issue I had. So awesome. We've been coming here forever. This week I came in with a horrible coffee stain on my front lower teeth. Dr. Liu really worked to get rid of it. My teeth are now so clean they almost look like they were whitened. She is always great with my kids. She gives great advice / analogies about how or why you should floss, or rinses your mouth w/ water after coffee... This week she also stayed later for us to pull my daughters tooth. ahhhh...Dr Liu. What a breath of fresh air. I drive 70 miles just to see her. After hiding from the dentist for over 10 years, I am finally forced to go as a side Crown popped out & I was looking like farmhouse Annie from Alabama who doesn't believe in personal hygiene. After nightmares, night sweats & overall anxiety about having to open my crumbled mouth plagued by years of Diet Coke drinking & TMJ tooth crushing damage, Dr. Liu unbelievably made me feel at ease.
