Don't ever do business with Vivint. I had there system at my home, and all was good until we moved. They say they provide free moving of the equipment, but when I called to have my equipment moved, they tried to charge me. After going up the line, I finally got them to agree they are supposed to move me for free. Then they set up an appointment for an installer, and so I set aside a Saturday. Five minutes before he was due to show up, I received a call that he would not be coming that day, and I would need a new appointment, which would be a month later. When the new installer came, after spending an hour or two at the house trying to install my equipment, he told me he could not get the equipment to work since Vivint had upgraded their software and the software was not backwards compatible. I then had to deal with Vivint directly to address the issue. They told me I had to buy all new equipment, and I made it abundantly that they needed to provide whatever new equipment I needed for free, and they refused, so I told them we were done, and I thought that was the end of it. Today, 3 months later, I got a Vivint charge on my credit card. I called to get it removed, and they told me I was still a customer and I had to start paying the monthly charges until the end of my contract. That was of course unacceptable and so I got bounced to their loyalty department. I went in circles with this person telling her to cancel the account, and she kept trying to sell me their equipment and service, even after I told her I had contracted with another alarm company. She said she understood this and then just kept trying to sell me new equipment and service. Finally, I got it through her head that I wanted the account canceled, and then she sprung on me that I am going to be charged a cancellation fee. So now I had to deal with her supervisor since there was no way I was going to pay a cancellation fee. Now the supervisor offered me all new equipment and a big reduction in my monthly payment, which obviously is what they should have done 3 months ago. When I told him it was too little too late since I had already contracted with another company, he finally gave up trying to sell me and said he would cancel the account. The he said the cancellation process would take 30 days so I would be charged with one more month of service. These people don't give up trying to take money for service that they can't provide. Finally when I blew up again telling him there's no way I'm paying for this, he finally backed off. Time will tell if they got me cancelled and if the money they charged me today is credited back to my credit card. Bottom line, stay away from Vivint. They are horrible to deal with, and they are money grubbers. read more

If I could give Vivint no stars I would. I never had the system installed because the tech said the system might not connect due to the old construction of the house. Evidently you need a cheap stick house with no insulation for the system to work. Anyway, as I prepaid for the equipment, Vivint wouldn't transfer the money back into my account without an auto payment authorization even though they withdrew the money from my account via ACH transfer. Don't deal with VIVINT. read more

Expensive, nothing works and the only solution is to leave where I am and go home to unplug and plug back in cameras. Avoid.

Loved the idea of a "smart home" so I gave them a shot. They came out to install a system, when they got to my home the installer was having a hard time connecting to the main server, anyhow 3 1/2 hours later and several attempts to connect lead to me finally cancel the service all together. My thoughts, if they can't connect to their main server how are they going to protect my home. Was a complete waste of time, I would not recommend this product/company to my worst enemy. Save your time and money and go with someone else. When asked for a manager to call me they completely ignored my request, one whole week later and nothing but crickets. What a joke!!! read more

The take over system they offer is just terrible. I sold my house months ago and the new owner wanted to keep the system. Because she didn't call vivint to speak to them i am still paying a monthly fee of $55 and i no longer own the system? Oh and by the way i bought all the equipment out Wright! Take some time to read the BBB complaints and you will become educated on the unscrupulous business practices of this corporation. Also, take a moment to familiarize yourself with how many states have sued this company in recent years for fraudulent practices for an eye opening experience. I almost fell victim to them based on a recommendation from my home inspector, until something didn't sit quite right with me after the call. I'm glad I took the time to research and cancel before I fell in with this lot. If you haven't heard of this company before there is good reason. They were formally known as APX Security and rebranded themselves as Vivint because of the horrible customer relations reputation they had built for themselves as APX. Don't do it!!! I will say I like the equipment used. The indoor security panel is nice with a large screen and I love that the sensors are labeled so the panel verbally tells you what door/window is open. What I don't like: the doorbell camera is only person activated (there is no way to change this) and what that means is that the camera will only be activated to record if a person walks in front of it- My camera directly faces my driveway but I will not be alerted when a car pulls up, only as the person is at my front door (like, not even as they are approaching, just when they are standing there). I don't like this feature because I want to know when someone is on my property, not just when they are about to ring the doorbell. I also don't like that I've had packages left on my door a handful of times and was never even alerted- didn't know until I arrived home. This is how I learned how awful the customer service at this company is. I called to have this camera removed within the three day cancellation period. They scheduled to have someone come remove the camera, but ended up rescheduling because the technician was ill (this was during the height of COVID so I get it) they rescheduled, and again canceled. During this time, I had purchased another expensive system which has just been sitting around my house not getting used- super. This was in MAY. I'm writing this post in JULY and I still have the camera attached to my house with no end in sight. Oh and I'm being charged for the camera while all of this is going on as well. Whenever I call I have been on hold for a MINIMUM of 30 minutes, usually just to get bounced to another department and placed back on hold. The lack of professionalism and reliability is astonishing. After one call I gave negative feedback on the survey and got an email from a "supervisor" asking if we could connect and I could give her more information about my experience LOL they never actually contacted me after I said yes. Today I called the company AGAIN to try to schedule and after being bounced back and forth again I was told they have no available appointments. What a joke- I wish I could rip this whole system out of my house at this point. Go with another company its NOT worth the hassle. read more

I have had a problem with my cameras being offline for two weeks now . I called to have them trouble shot it over the phone and the rep could not get them to work. She decided that I would need new cameras and she prepared to send them to me . She told me to call when they came in so she could arrange for a technician to install them as I told her I wanted someone to come out and look at the equipment because a panel was slightly open not sure what happened . My appointment was supposed to be this past Saturday from 4-8. I called around 6pm just to see where the technician was and get a better time on his or her ETA. To my utter disbelief the report said I did not have an appointment scheduled for that day but instead on the 20th a Sunday from 12-4. I told him that is is out of his mind that I of course had an appointment that day and then asked to speak to his supervisor . She explained to me that there was no record of the appointment and that the soonest they could do was a Tuesday between October 15th between 8am-11am. I was very upset and told them that I would have to move some things on my schedule to make it work. I also said I hope this appointment will be honored, if not I will remove your cameras and cancel the service. It is nearly impossible for one to get a technician to come out. First I was told it would cost me $50 if a tech came out. Then the last two reps I talked to said there would be no fee. This company really sucks . If they do not show up I will orchestrate a smear campaign and end vivint!!! read more

Yesterday i called in after my alarm was trigged by my dog after he jumped on the door. I called it reported it was a false alarm and asked if they could contact my towns police department to see if someone could go close the door. She said she would call them and let them know. I got a call 5ish mins later stating they won't go out because it's not an emergency. I thought it was extremely odd but I needed to get back to work. I called my towns police department after work and they said they never received a call from Vivint or anything regarding my address. So I call Vivint to get information and I get the run around and no one is willing to give me info. I filed a formal complaint and asked for the calls to be reviewed and determine what happened and who screwed up. I get an email the next day and Vivint tells me that the monitoring rep did in fact lie to me and never called my towns police dept. She took it into her own hands to decide I wasn't a priority for her. After more run around for over an hour. I finally get information that she was instructed by a supervisor to lie to me. And all they'll be getting is "coached". Utterly ridiculous, I pay monthly to have people monitor my home and I can't even trust them. No one could even apologize for the hell they put us through. The amount of disrespect is outrageous. read more

It has been over 1 YEAR since Vivint Solar installed panels on my roof and THEY ARE STILL NOT OPERATIONAL. I had to spend thousands of dollars (after the panels were installed FOR FREE) just to bring the electrical up to code. The problems with out of date electrical was not disclosed to me, and they were the last ones in the electrical box. (The inspector said Vivint solar was the last ones in the box and therefore by law were supposed take care of the electrical costs to bring it up to code. YA! -that did not happen. I had to spend over $4,000 MYSELF just to get the electrical up to code so they would come out and hook it up. Well, one year later and I'm STILL waiting to enjoy the benefits of solar. Trust me on this. Do NOT sign a contract with these people, -they have you over a barrel from that point forward. I cannot even cancel the contract, and have them take back the panels/ system equipment (which has never been turned on). They said, "that is not an option", you'll have to handle that in a legal manner". They're customer server has big problems, as I have to re-explain my problems over and over again, only to have a supervisor say they'll call me back and they NEVER do. 1 year of dealing with this fiasco and not ONCE has this company called me back to follow up with anything.. I've lost countless hours of work waiting for their service technicians to come to the house, and they do not show up, no calls. Plus to make things WAY worse, they billed me for 2 months of 'usage' for a system that has yet to be hooked up. When I call to try to rectify THAT, I get more of the same run-around..
