Very satisfied with service. Gives me great security and comfort when gone for months at a time. The only question is how to replace the batteries when required. I would recommend this system to any snow bird who leaves there primary residence for long periods of time. read more

The only real issues I have is that the phone app at times does not connect. Even if I shut my phone off and turn my phone back on. Customer service is great and so is customer support. The loyalty program is really good. I been a Vivint customer for a little over 5 years and only had to have 1 camera replaced. The only time we had false alarms was with the motion detectors and that is when we had cats. So now we have 2 cats and a dog and no motion detectors. The guy came to my house I just wanted a simple system as my home was on the market there was a for sale sign on the lawn I made it very clear I was moving to an apartment. That being said yes I was foolish for believing him when he told me I could pass it on to the new home owners only what he did not tell me was I would have to pay the equipment off first. Then I end up getting stuck with a $1900.00 bill. Then they have someone come to my apartment who told me there is no way they can install the system and that they would take it back. Then this morning I call and they tell me that was bad information and not true. I do not usually spend time writing bad reviews but this company is a rip off and not transparent in their information they will misinform you and over sell you and take responsibility for sending people out on their behalf that are not honest. read more

We have used Vivint Security for a few years, the system was good. The problem that I am having is cancelling the service because we moved. Right now the people who moved into the house are getting free services because the Customer Loyatly people that I have spoken with cannot seem to get it together enough to cancel my account. We moved at the beginning of August and I started this process July 19th, I have called 4 times and put on hold for 30-60 min each time I have called while the new person tries to figure this out. I don't think this is rocket science and it should not be taking this long to cancel an account. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would! Stay away from Vivint! The sales tactics used are aggressive and highly deceptive. They will tell you lies to get you to sign up with them and when you realize that nothing they told you was true, they will give you the runaround when you try and cancel. I called customer service and was told I was being transferred to the appropriate department, was on hold for 45 minutes then was hung up on. The rep stated Vivint's products were years ahead of any other security company and they would buy out my existing contract with the security company I was already with if I signed up with them. Well I found that out to be a bold-faced lie! Now I am stuck in 2 contracts and fighting Vivint to get out of their contract. I highly recommend anyone to not use this service. We too had issues cancelling the service once our original contract period was up. We followed their guidelines, put it in writing, their Account Resolution supervisor even said he saw notes in their system that we wanted to cancel but said we missed on of their hops that we had to jump through so it auto-renewed. We've ended up having to pay another 12 months and followed their rules to the T but just got another bill. We just spent 40 minutes on the phone, being placed on hold with 3 different reps with each one trying to upsell us on their service. Despite all the efforts we've done to follow their bs rules on terminating their service, we still haven't gotten it done. Vivint has been taking my money for over 2 years now. I have been trying for over 1 week to cancel my account. I have called 3 times. I was told that I need to send an email and I sent the email today. Not only do I have to send an email, but I have to call back on Monday (again... for the 4th time) to verify that I sent the email. I asked to speak with a manager to have my account canceled, but was told that the person I was talking with was the manager and that I had to call on Monday. After asking her to simply cancel the account when she receives the email, she stated that the email goes to a different department and they are unable to cancel the account. I asked if that department can forward the email to her and she said they are too busy and get too many emails. Vivint is a sham and is simply trying to keep my account for as long as possible so they can keep auto-billing my credit card. I asked back in August to have my account closed when my 2 year contract was complete in October. The person on the phone said they would note the account and that I just had to call back to cancel. I have now paid for October and November while having to make multiple calls and now send some ridiculous email. I haven't used the worthless Vivint system in over a year, but got stuck paying for their "services" for a full 2 years. Stay away! read more

Stay away. This company is very aggressive to install but have no support to move your equipment.I was advised when I moved it would be no problem to move the system. Which I guess is true after a pay there moving fee. I have now been without the system for over a month and it will be another month before they can get anyone to install the system. I live in Norther CA and they only have 1 installer for the area. This installer only works Monday thur Friday and not in the evenings. So unless I'm willing to take a day off of work I can't get the system installed. Not to mention they are very expensive. This is the worst contracts I have ever signed. Beware doing business with these criminals. Not long after i got the unit the console would go off about every fifteen min. with a communications err. Called vivint to fix this problem. I was told that it would be taken care of, it was not. Called back and complained again. Still had to get out of bed to cancel the alarm, so was forced to unplug the unit. I am disabled and require rest not harassment by a defective vivint product. You can find a better company to do business with. I would give it less if there was an option. I singed up with them and have been a customer for almost a year. (Regrettably). Unfortunately they had a 2 year contract which I was willing to do given the Internet connection was supposed to be great. 50 Meg speed. Herd a lot of people say they liked it and they gave us a trial period. Things were great during the trial period so we signed up. After the trial period however things went south fast. Connection was never the speed promised. It cut in and out constantly. Customer service seemed to fix issues with tech support but it would always go right back to crap. Never any bill credit offered for horrible service and never a real solution. Can't wait until the contract ends and then I am running fast. I'm really tech savvy and a huge gamer and I'll say these guys so far have been a huge disappointment. read more

We had been a customer since 2007, and starting having problems with the control panel and backup battery. When changing out the battery didn't help, we called for technical assistance. They walked us through opening up the panel to locate a loose wire. We stripped it back and reconnected it, but that was not the only problem. It still didn't work. We were told that all of our equipment was obsolete, and they had already depleted all excess stock and parts. There was no way to fix it and guarantee it would work right. However for several hundreds they could come out and replace and upgrade the equipment. We told them to wait while we considered our options. We started getting $25 false alarm charges on our statements, when I called to question them, apparently it had happened several months ago and they just got around to billing us. Through their lack of internal communication, we were also getting calls from the marketing dept asking us to re-commit to extending our contract with them for another 42 months. After explaining the current circumstances, and that I was not a happy customer and had no intentions of re-signing with them, we still did not get any phone calls on how to resolve the matter. Several months passed during all these conversations. Thinking our contract had now expired and we were on a month to month, I changed security companies to get new equipment at no charge and with a slightly lower monthly charge. When I called Vivint on Monday morning to cancel our account, I was told that we are still under contract until August. I was on the phone for about 45 minutes arguing with them, and they were finally offering to come out and change out the equipment at no charge, but only if we signed a new contract. I will never do business with them again. read more

Vivint is great when they first sign you up. But! later down the road when you start to have technical issues, it is impossible to get a technician to come to your home to take a look. For example, one of my devices stopped working. They sent me a FedEx from to send it for repair, which I did. I would have rather have had a technician come to swap it out. Anyway, It was gone for several weeks, when I finally got it back, it still did not work. They sent me back the exact same device that was NOT repaired. After several emails and phone calls to get a technician to come to my home, I was still not able to get them to do that. Instead they sent me another FedEx from to send it back to them for repairs once again, which I did. This has been going on since March 8th. It is now May 23rd, I still do not have a replacement device. Meanwhile I am paying full price for a partially working system! Once my contract is up, I will not be renewing with Vivint. read more

I have no idea where these other people who claim to have negative experiences with Vivint ordered their service from. I called their special toll-free phone number of 888-912-5629 for reduced pricing for new subscribers a friend referred me to and everything went absolutely fantastic from there. I was an ADT customer for years and although that service and system was satisfactory, Vivint was truly exceptional. Not only in the service and capabilities of their products, but in the pricing as well. In fact I received an even better deal than what my friend told me about when I called the number. I can't do anything but recommend their service. Really it has been a paragon by which all others should be judged. What I was quoted from Vivint was also about 20 to 30% cheaper than the other providers I checked in keeping with my needs. I would quote the prices I paid but it could be a little more or less now. My recommendation to anyone is to simply call that special number for new customer pricing yourself and see what they can do for you. read more

I would strongly advise against signing a contract to have Vivint alarm and smart home services. Initially, the sales person stalked my house every day for two weeks to switch my service from ADT. When I finally switched to Vivint, the install person arrived and was there all day, but didn't have all of the equipment that I ordered. Instead, he installed what he called a 'place holder' until the other parts became available. The installer and the Sales Representative assured me that there wouldn't be any problems exchanging the place holder equipment since the equipment that I ordered was not in stock. They informed me that Vivint would call me when the ordered equipment was available. Its been over two months and no one from Vivint called. So, I called them. After being transferred between six different departments, I finally reached the Account Management, Customer Retention Department and spoke to a representative, whose name I don't recall and he would not repeat, who told me that I would have to pay $378.99 more dollars to get the equipment that I initially requested and was paying for in my monthly contract, installed. He never bothered to check the contract to see that I was already being charged for the piece of equipment that I was asking to have installed. I immediately asked to speak with a manager, The customer service guy argued with me for several minutes about my request to speak with a manager, and then said, 'NO! , I will not transfer you because they can't do anything for you, and I won't transfer you. I will put you back on hold and you can try to speak with someone else, but they can't help you either.' Before I could speak,the line was placed on hold. He came back to the phone several minutes later and said, 'Oh, you're still here, well the manager will give you the part for $249.99. I spoke to the sale rep and he said he didn't promise you that you could have the part for free, he doesn't work here anymore, but you have to pay him for it'. WHAT!!!! I found it amazing that ; 1. They were trying to charge me for a piece of equipment that I was already paying for in my monthly contract, and that should have been installed initially, when my entire service was installed. As though it was my fault that Vivint was out of stock. 2. How rudely their customer service representatives, and customer retention personnel behave. He left me on hold, playing games and hoped that I left the call. 3. A customer service representative refused to transfer me to a manager. Isn't that the first requirement of 'customer service school'. Their service to customers is awful! 4. That he called a former employee sales person to ask anything, let along that this person would remember my transaction out of all that he sold, and would be truthful about it as a 'former employee'...Totally unbelievable! 5. The account manager/customer service representative refused to allow me to speak with the sales person, the installer or a manager to corroborate his story. Basically, the Account Manager/Customer Service Representative lied to me, and had to the audacity to not do his job! and think that he could charge me extra for what I was already paying for. I called back and transferred between seven different departments until I finally reached an actual manager. I told him about the customer service persons' behavior, the things he said and that he lied and refused to let me speak with a manager. To all of that, the manager said, 'Sorry.... I guess I will have to speak with him', in a very nonchalant, uninterested voice and then ended the call. A company that does not have respect for its customers, lies to its customers or tries to upcharge its customers for their existing services is not worth doing business with, or giving them your money! read more

DO NOT SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY! I was lied to by the sales rep from the start. He said my system would be free because my home was chosen as a "promotion home" based on my curb appeal. All I would have to do is prominently display the Vivint sign in my yard and pay a competitive monthly monitoring fee. ALL LIES! The system is not free. I was locked into an overpriced 4 year contract (to pay for my "free" system) and the equipment has never worked right. Based on being lied to, I asked to be let out of my contract within the first year. I was told that I would have to pay the full amount of the remaining years. Legally, Vivint should've canceled the contract. I should have gotten a lawyer. I have spoken to several levels of customer service and no one will accept responsibility or make any of this right. Look them up, they have been sued several times and have numerous BBB complaints. VIVINT ONLY CARES ABOUT GETTING YOUR MONEY! What ever you do, do not believe their salesmen and do not sign anything. I absolutely love my Vivint SmartHome. I love that I can control my home from my phone anywhere I have service. I can not only see who rings my doorbell, but talk to them as well!!! I can also close my garage door when my fiance forgets to close it. I cant let people in to take care of my house while away on vacation without handing out keys. With their amazing Element thermostat, I rarely have to adjust it and it saves me money on my electric bill. I recently added an Amazon Echo and now have voice control over my system. I recently had an alarm event and the response was beyond great!! Even though it was a false alarm because my drunk friend tried to go outside after the alarm was armed (automatically according to the schedule I set up), they were very prompt in contacting me to verify before needlessly dispatching authorities. I could go on and on about it but to sum it up, I highly recommend this company and their products and services. Best decision I have made in a long time. read more

Let me tell you our experience with Vivint. We placed a poor review on this website a few weeks ago. Next thing we know, the review is gone. Then two weeks ago we received an email from Vivint requesting our personal email address so they could try and resolve it. We responded yet nothing has happened to date. We went so far as to email them two more times asking when they would be contacting us to resolve our issue. NOTHING. In early October our parents contacted Vivint to cancel their service on their residence in Nevada. They were forced to sell their home and move permanently to Utah due to health issues and the need to be by doctors in that area. Vivint told them they would not be allowed to cancel their contract as a contract is a contract. They would not take into consideration our father's age of 84! All they care about is $$$. The new homeowner that purchased their home refused to pay for the service. So, now he is forced to pay for a service that he does not use. Meanwhile, we called Vivint and several times a supervisor confirmed that the service was cancelled. Then a week later after the new homeowner has taken possession of the home, the alarm starts going off! Police, fire and Vivint local responders are being sent to the home. What! We have NO faith in this company. They have no desire to give the customer good customer service nor follow-up on complaints. One division doesn't know what another division is doing or saying. We get contradictions. The latest was that the company was sending someone in to remove the system, yet, the homeowner confirms it is still in their home. We are beyond frustrated. I have had so many problems with my vivint system. I find the biggest problem is getting someone knowledgeable to assist me when calling technical support. Example: Yesterday after waiting more than two weeks for an appointment, they replaced my thermostat incorrectly. I asked the technician if he was sure he installed it correctly as my air conditioning unit is two stage. He assured me he did it correctly and had done several in the past. After he left I noticed it was not cooling properly and was only working in the first stage. I called technical support and got the usual line that the person was very knowledgeable regarding the thermostat. After several minutes and several attempts to fix the problem, he asked me (a 73 year old man living in a two story home) to climb up on the roof and tell him how the air conditioner was wired. I then demanded to speak to a supervisor. As usual there was the insistence that he knew what he was doing and the reluctance to let me speak to his supervisor. Instead he wanted to make another appointment (2 weeks away) to have a technician come back. I insisted several times that I wanted to speak to a supervisor until he finally said he would try and find him. After several minutes waiting on hold the supervisor (Toby) answered and within minutes found that the settings the technician made to the unit were completely wrong. He guided me through the correct input and the problem was solved. Thank you Toby. VIVINT WISE UP AND TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES BETTER BOTH IN TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS. We have been with this company for over a year and a half. We have no complaints regarding this company. If you review the BBB, the only reason this company has a bad score is based on issues encountered with APX in which they were not operating correctly. Since Vivint purchased APX, this is the factor that drags down their score. If you look at their factors under Vivint, it is all positive. All compliants were resolved. Sorry, but not all companies do this. Also, we review every company before making a change to go with them, and although the original sales guy was pushy, he respected our wishes, and came back, and we made the decision to go with this company. Everyone has their personal experiences and reviews, but after seeing the other reviews, I felt it was fair to share our experience. Each time of the times we have had an issue with Vivint, they were able to resolve these issues up to 90% over the phone. Comcast can't do that. read more

I signed a 3 year contract with them and had to move 2 years in. when i moved they stated i needed to retain the service as i signed a three year deal. they would not take back the system they just wanted their money for the rest of the contract. Ok very mad but i did sign a 3 year contract. So after a very heated conversation with them i decided it was not worth the argument anymore and paid the balance for the remaining year roughly $600 and told them to cancel. now all most a year and a half later i get a bill at my new address saying they are going to send my outstanding balance to collections. the bill was for $200 (4 months) they state that since they did not receive a written cancellation notice they renewed my contract for 1 year. Ok it gets even better when i contacted them stating that i canceled this service they said ok so i would just need to pay for the remaining term of the 1 year extension ($600). they where unwilling to do anything about this. After threatening a law suit reporting them to BBB talking with almost all of their management staff they finally credited me for the one year extension but this took hours and action before they would do anything. read more

I received there full home automation package at no cost. My only cost was a 99.00 activation fee and a monthly cost of 68.99. This was very clearly explained to me upfront. Aaron from Honolulu was our sales person. great talker to sell but after agreement bad bad service .after we agreed with going ahead to install. that's when everything bad started. 1) they miss lead you by saying installation is no charge, that's a lie! 2)try to charge and add for things that wasn't agreed with. 3) system didn't work right, our phone camera couldn't sync with house alarm. it took over 2 weeks and us calling corporate office to get extra charges resolved and system to work properly. (still waiting on charges to be resolved, I'll update later on that). Overall, Aaron was terrible, installer Dave was even worse. he didn't check system before he left, rushed out and didn't clean up mess. told us to please do survey about his work before work was completed. my neighborhood is a NO SOLICITING neighborhood and these sales people are liars and so rude!!! When he approached my house he was telling us about his product and we asked him first of all do you have permission to be in this neighborhood? He said yes then was going on about his product. Then we said we weren't interested because that is why we have two dogs but kept insisiting on telling us about his product. We then had to leave so went in our car and seen him go to our neighbors house. Next day we called the rec manager and asked if they ok'd these people on the property and they said NO . now couple days later I was outside talking to my neighbor about these people and they also asked the manager if they could be on property and he still said NO. then here comes the same guy that came to my house and I straight out told him he's not supposed to be on this property selling anything he said yes our manager said its ok for us to be here I said oh really I think you should go back and asked then to clarify this to our manager and then he ask do you know about out product I said no I'm Not interested then he says I'm rude and he's just trying to do his job. Um hello you're the rude one I nicely said we're not interested and that's a hint for you to say ok thank you for your time and walk the other way but no he wants to stand there and says I'm rude and he's trying to do his job I said hello you don't have permission to be here and I've said we're not interested so just turn around and walk away. We've had a Vivint alarm system for about 2.5 years now. We recently got a call from Vivint saying our system was malfunctioning. When they came and looked at equipment, they said that it had been installed incorrectly, and they would replace the bad equipment. The service technician assured us we wouldn't be charged for the visit or the replacement equipment. Surprise, surprise, surprise - we were charged for the service visit and equipment. We called customer service and their response was "we've had the equipment for too long for them to have to pay for the replacement". As soon as our contract ends, we are leaving and going to someone that is less expensive and has good customer service. Vivint - you seriously need to get your act together. read more

I received a visit from a sales man with Vivint, unannounced. I am an ADT customer and am happy with ADT, I was not looking to switch, but the sales man saw my ADT sign in my front yard. 1. He showed up at my door, unannounced, started off by addressing me by my first and last name (which in itself is kind of creepy, even if it is public information, as your salesman pointed out when I brought it up) and he never introduced himself or asked if he could have a few minutes (which turned into about 20) of my time. 2. He asked me if I was a single mother, after seeing my daughter peek out the window. 3. He gave me credit information on my neighbors as to why they didn't qualify for their "deal". 4. The cops showed up because a neighbor down the street called them when he wouldn't leave her property, & he referred to her as "crazy". 5. he asked me numerous times if he could come inside my home & see my system & my ADT paperwork. 6. When I told him that I couldn't make a decision on a company I've never heard of in a matter of minutes, he was genuinely upset. Asked me to do some Internet research & he'd come back in a few hours (when it would be well into evening time). Very aggressive and rude sales people. At one point he became argumentative and said I should just take their deal because eventually, I'm going to need to upgrade my system. So my wife and I recently moved into a new home and had our second child , when we moved in the previous owners already had this company installed into the home. I called and spoke to representative who at the time was friendly and informed of the low rate and cancel in 3 months see how you like to and the contract length would go to the new year. Here we are called to cancel and I get a the response of "no you had 3 days to cancel" , 3 DAYS are you kidding me . and your two options to cancel are pay off balance of remaining months (1k for me ) or give the contract to a friend or family member , essentially make some take over my payments .Its close to a freaking ponzi scheme. Notice there positive reviews are all from the companies own state? mm . Let me first say, when I started with Vivint I experienced no issues. I've been a customer for 2 years and up until 3 months ago was more than satisfied with my service and interactions with them. 3 months ago I started experiencing False opens and Lack of communication alarms with my system. It got so bad until once 2 doors and the motion detectors were showing open. Since then, in order to arm my system I've had to bypass the false opens. I've called 3 times about the malfunctions and troubleshooted with the agents on the phone. I've been on at 1:30 a.m in the morning, going back and forth up and down stairs trying to troubleshoot to no avail. Finally, I convinced them to sent a technician out. The tech came almost 3 weeks later, fumbled with my sensors, replaced one and stated everything should be fine. A day later the same malfunction occurs. I call again and get another appointment scheduled for another tech and 3 weeks later they arrive to fix the problem. He replaced sensors and checked the panel and said I should be fine now. He left and 2 hours later I receive the same malfunction. I call back and schedule another appointment for today, 9/16/15 and express my frustration. This makes the 3rd day I've taken off to address this issue and today the tech didn't show up in the window provided. I called Vivint and was told that the rep who entered the service request didn't follow through with the confirmation. They see it in the system and notes, but it wasn't done correctly so no tech today. I'm then told I can get an appointment on Oct 5th. I'm absolutely at my wits end. I've asked for a tech to be sent today or sooner to no avail. I've asked to be released from my contract and was also told no. This has become one of the worse decisions I've made by switching from ADT to Vivint. I'm actually in the process of going with Vivint Solar and have called to stop that process. I'm really disgusted at the lack of concern for customers and will not fall into this trap again with this company. How are they supposed to protect customers when the system is malfunctioning and they don't have enough techs to adequately canvas or deal with problems. read more

This company used to be aka APX. We had a 2 year contract with them in San Diego, CA. After the contract was up...we told them we didn't want to continue the contract since we never used the system. Now they are calling us daily saying the contract renewed automatically and if we don't pay up...it will go to collections. This is for a man who is 85 years of age on a fixed income. He has excellent credit and now they are harassing him even though he has completed his 2 year contract. What's up with this company? Don't use them!!!!!!! read more

On the one hand, I like their protection solution and how it syncs to my phone but half the time the system is malfunctioning and the company has made so many (and mean a lot!) errors since the beginning that we ended up getting everything for free for 8 months. Do you see my confliction? The main issue for all the errors is the way they've set up their company internally. Each department and area is siloed from one another and they don't communicate causing redundancies, mistakes, repeats, cancellations, hours on the phone, refunds, etc. Every time we found an error - wrong contract saved, appointments cancelled by other depts, wrong monthly billing amount, wrong credit card saved, double charges, precious house owner's name on our account, etc - it would take minimum 2 hours on the phone re-explaining everything and eventually asking for a supervisor because they are the only people who seem to get anything done over there. The issue is that we are getting such a good deal for the connected home package with locks, cameras, theostat, etc that we would pay double if we went elsewhere and security is a must have in our situation. So we stay, stuck with incredibly bad customer service and a system that malfunctions weekly. Please do better Vivint! read more

WORST ALARM COMPANY EVER!!!!!!! I got a yelp account solely so I could let the world know how awful our experience has been with Vivint. In my history of working with any service out there in the world, Vivint has been my worst experience. And now that i'm reading other reviews, I see I am not alone!!!! Worst company ever!!! I haven't used their system in over 3 years, yet they are still trying to charge me a monthly fee

I have to tell you I was very intrigued by the technology of Vivint. The number one thing I wanted out of my security system was access when we weren't home. We thought we got that but when it was installed the camera didn't work and then the panel didn't work. They fixed the problem with the cameras and eventually got the panel working correctly. Through all of this they kept calling me telling me I owed $200. Each time I spoke with at least two different people and they kept telling me I was right and it would be credited to my account. Eventually I began calling each time I got my bill and would talk to several different people before hearing something different but with the same conclusion. This past month I called again and got a different person tgat of course had to transfer me to a different person so I could explain my story for the 10th time. This time the person from Vivint did go the extra mile to listen to their recorded conversation about the original agreement but didn't go and listen to the 3 other calls where they told me the account would be credited. So I will pay the $200 since in this case I feel like there isn't much more I can do. Along with all of this really poor customer service they have really poor antiquated cameras that work half the time. The thermostat they offer wasn't compatible with my house. No real explanation as of why. So I went out and bought Nest thermostat and cameras and love them. In closing they have a good start but execution and customer service isn't there strong suit. read more
