Paid alot of money for Vivint cameras and a system that is constantly down. Customer service is horrible. Called multiple times after our system went haywire last week. System would arm then would go off at almost every sensor. Was unable to shut the alarm off and had to leave our home because of the sound. First they said I needed an update to our panel, which I had no way of knowing or installing. After their "update" failed to correct my system issue I called back and requested a service tech to come out and fix it. They kept wanting me to stay on the phone to "trouble shoot" with them. After insisting on a service tech to come out and do their job since I had already wasted hours out of my day dealing with this, they said they would credit me $15 and scheduled a tech for last night- NO TECH ever showed. THIS IS A SCAM THAT WILL SUCK MONEY OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT! In August of 2011 a door to door sales man was selling security systems. We were new to the area and decided we did need a security system The salesman offered no installment fee, and a monthly charge for service that could be canceled at any time. We decided to try it for 12 months and then review it after that. 12 months later, we did not want the system anymore. It was far to expensive compared to more reputable alarm companies. We were told we couldn't cancels then, but that we could after 24 months (12 months more than agreed). We went back and forth and decided just one more year that way we didn't have any cancellation fees. in August of 2013 our payments stopped and we assumed the services had been canceled and also that our contract had expired. In February 2014 we start receiving notices of overdue bills and we almost laughed, "overdue on a CANCELED service?" We are in the process of pursuing legal options and have seen SIX other states have CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST THIS COMPANY FOR THE SAME THING. If you Google search, you will see the Better Business Bureau has given them a bad rating. That is a nationally accredited agency that DOES hold up in court. read more

We have had our home secured by Vivint for over a year now. Horrible. Our cameras keep going offline. They say it is our internet, our internet company says it the security system. Technicians from both companies have been out several times and tried various tricks. It is almost always the same camera. We were out of town for a week and it went offline again. There is only so much you can do while accessing your system remotely. We tried rebooting the system and it triggered the alarm. When I called they asked me if I had tried unplugging the camera. Super easy to do from 3 states away, HA! So they told me they were going to send someone out to replace my camera. After months of paying for crappy service I felt like we were finally getting somewhere. So we scheduled the appointment for over a week later . Today I needed to reschedule the time due to a funeral so I called, and guess what...no appointment had been made in their system. If it wasn't for me calling to reschedule I would have waited around all day for nobody to even show up. Well it was written in the notes that someone needed to replace the camera. But instead the new representative I am talking to makes me jump through all the hoops again. "Did you try unplugging it?" Duh!!!! So now he says instead of a technician coming out they are going to send their own router out first. So I have to wait 10 business days for that to arrive. And I know when I call back to say that didn't work I will be asked the same questions all over again. Anything to avoid actually fixing my service. At this point I am in a hurry to make it to an appointment so I give in to this stupid idea. But I also ask for some sort of credit to be applied. A whole $15, folks! Wow! Needless to say anyone who asks us about our service will be told to look elsewhere. Biggest joke of a company. And don't even get me started on the misleading statements given by their sales reps. As with so many, I wish zero or negative stars were an option. Vivint is a shameful and pathetic company. I went off of reviews in Forbes, on Google, and Yahoo! I wish I would have read some reviews on Yelp back in June when I had this waste of time and money installed in my home. Vivint should make and install whole home vacuum cleaners, since their lack of "security" business just sucks money and time (on the phone with incompetent customer service agents) right out of the customer. They're probably trying to suck away our souls and make us Mormons too. Don't be fooled. The customer service is awesome when they are trying to earn your business (except they do lie about pricing and discounts), but once they have you under their evil clutches, it's Vivint Uber Alles. The customer becomes just another turd in the toilet that is 2015 American society. The billing department is totally incompetent. But the major concern is that the panel constantly goes offline, thus the cameras never work! I have had to call in several times throughout the fall to have my panel reset to the (additional) router that they gave me. Their excuse is always that I can't use Apple TV & an iPad and expect my panel to work too. I've become a pro at resetting that panel so that I do not have to waste a 1/2 hour on the phone with an incompetent agent. But that only works when I am home. The panel cannot be reset while you are traveling, thus making the whole thing useless when you try to check in on your home. I also thought that it was odd that the technician told me he used to be a loan shark and held various odd jobs and then about one month after that "technician" was in my home I got a phone call from some electronics pawn shop/recycling place asking me about the exact TV in my home and about me selling it. I never sold it. The caller wanted all kinds of personal info, but it is very strange that he knew all about the same TV this scammer technician saw in my home. The tech didn't even finish installing my equipment, I had to to that myself the following day. I wish I could get out of my contract with Vivint, but that doesn't sound like it will happen unless I hire an expensive lawyer. Vivint, YOU ARE PATHETIC! Then less than three hours after I posted this review, I get this private message through Yelp: "Lummox, we would be happy to help you get your panel working. We may need to install a repeater to boost the signal from the router to the panel. Please respond with your phone number and verbal passcode so we can assist you further. This is not a legitimate company. They are fraudulent and solicitors. They actually showed up outside where I live today and knew my girlfriends name (when she or I had never even heard of the company before) nor ever signed up or given them any of our info! Of course needless to say, they tried to get us to purchase an alarm system but funny thing is we aren't even the homeowners. Her grandmother is. He then tells us someone recommended us somewhere in the midst of his fast babbling scripted sales pitch. He points out some random name we have never even heard of that was written down that had supposedly just signed up and then gave our name as a recommendation. They also charge you $99 if you want to remove a feature,which is apparently hidden in the small print (still haven't found it). We also had to pay a $75 fine due to false alarms because they only call one number, even though we have my wife and Mom's numbers on the account as backup. All of the horror stories are true about Vivint. I attempted to get security service from this company back in April 2014, but after no one ever called to inform me about a scheduled appointment. I called back to cancel & ask for a refund of my deposit. After 3 weeks of going back & forth between customer service, my credit card company was finally able to get the charge refunded. Now here it is July 2014 and I've noticed that Vivint has fraudulently charged my credit card for $200. This is ridiculous!!! Now I have to go through the refund loop all over again to get this charged removed. I am going to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I am very unhappy with my Vivint security system and service. I signed up for service after enduring a high-pressure sale. I was working out in my yard when approached by a man in a Vivint truck. Little was I to know at the time how much I would regret this decision. I have paid every bill on time, never missing a payment, for my 3.5 year contract. I have paid a total of $2,205 Problems: 1). A keypad that was always difficult to use-requiring the code be typed in 3-4 times before it registered correctly, and subsequently setting off the alarm 2). Faulty motion detector (worked intermittently)- which the company would not replace claiming it worked fine when they tested it 3). Very long waits for a repairman (about a month each time) - and while I waited for a repairman I would see Vivint trucks in my neighborhood probably selling their product. 4). Poor customer service - representatives who are either unwilling or unable to solve problems or meet customer needs 5). Cancellation is not immediate - expect to pay one more payment after you cancel in writing per a 30 day cancellation notice in the contract (Which they will not budge on). 6). AND WORST OF ALL - Poor monitoring: Smoke detector went off twice with no call or report; MANY alarms (longer than one minute) due to misdialing codes, opening a window, etc. with no call or report from Vivint. I could go on as there have been so many incidents. Most of which don't show up in their logs (which they assure me is not possible). VIVINT IS NOT A CUSTOMER FRIENDLY COMPANY. They exist to collect your monitoring fees and do as little as possible once they have your contract. DO NOT PURCHASE MONITORING THROUGH VIVINT.... August 2017 I had the system installed in my home. WORST MISTAKE EVER! From the onset of the installation, the faulty equipment in no way protected my home. Had I known then what I know now I would have allowed the tech to cross my threshold. After two weeks I was informed that I would have to perform continuous downloads of the system to allow it stay connected. Really, I had to do this. This upon so many other issues with the system. In September I requested the system be removed. Of course they wanted to send their techs...who could not repair their own system, too many phone calls to attempt to resolve the issue. After several months, February 2 the system was removed but I was continually billed. How many times have I called to alert them that they were illegally withdrawing money from my account. Each person saying they would get the money too me. In August I was told I was due a refund of $561.99, today (9/24) informed I was due $542.00. Requested to speak with Mr. Pederson but was told he and his office do not deal or speak with the customers. Hey Mr. Pederson, maybe if I contact national news to talk about your illegal dealings and incompetent product and customer service, just maybe you can find someone to explain why your company operates this way. Your company had no problem continuously taking my money, then you should not have a problem addressing this request directly. I've been with Vivint for a number of years. I sold my house in February 2018 and sent in the cancellation letter at the end of the month to close my account. I was charged for the following month of March 2018 and when I called to enquire about the charge, I was told that (per contract) it takes up to 30 days after cancelation to close the account. They will still bill me for March 2018 even though the alarm is not serviced or monitored. I was then given alternatives to avoid the charge if I transferred the account to my new home (alarm already in contract) or had someone else take over the account. Neither of these options are possible and I was told that I would not be refunded the extra month charge. This is a very poor policy (one that was not explained at the time of signing) and very petty for a company as large as Vivint. It is an obvious attempt to pressure customers into staying with them to avoid the extra month charge. I had considered moving to Vivint when my current alarm contract expires but that option is no longer viable. I can not see how Vivint can afford the loss of this customer and the very poor reviews I will be posting for a miserly charge. read more

Terrible company. Shotty installation, the installer put multiple holes in the walls. We were giving a grace period if we decided against the service. We did just that within the grace period, called to have the system removed. It's been a month now and we are still waiting for someone to come out and remove the equipment. This is after multiple phone calls and appointments made with "customer service". Both my husband and I have taken time off work to wait for the installer but they have consistantly been a no-show. I have been a Vivint customer for a few years now. Their equipment is functional and appealing in design/size. I have never had a billing, equipment, or customer service issue. I know other companies may be cheaper, but I haven't looked into details. However, for $45/mo, knowing I'm safe while at home AND the home is safer from theft/fire while I'm away, is reassuring and worth it. Plus I love their app--nice to have control in my hands! I am looking into purchasing even more if their products/services in the future. read more

If I could put a negative star on this review I would. I have been lied to by this company twice and the installer who was meant to reconnect my service after moving (lie number 2 was that I could cancel my service upon moving) showed up 25 minutes late on a 4 hour time window; no call, no update from the company. I then called customer service and told them I was frustrated and done with their company and someone with authority should call me after work at 5pm to tell me what they could do. I also received a survey about my service installation that afternoon and I filled it out with low marks. Again, instead of respecting my wishes, this joke of a company called me during a business meeting. All of this happened 1 month ago and I am still waiting to here from someone. This is a review of the sales pitch not the actual service. I have a no soliciting sign in front of my house and cameras that show my front door and front of my house. The reason I have the no soliciting sign is I have some medical issues and on this day had just come from the hospital so I didn't want to get the door if it was a salesperson or just the UPS guy. A man was at my door and I had recognized him from my neighbor's house. He kept banging on the door so I got out of bed because I thought maybe something was wrong at my neighbors. The man started to talk about the home security and I said ,"Didn't you see the no soliciting sign?". He said he was reffered by my neighbor so he had a right to be at my door. I said I was not feeling well and to leave. I shut the door and grabbed a chair because I was dizzy and he entered my house. I told him I was not interested and to leave. He was trying to scare me because I was sick that I needed his service. It was such a low down dishonest sales pitch. My husband had been notified with our current security system(one which my husband set up himself which is far more then any security system could ever give me since it is personalized to my medical needs) was on his way home. I told the man if he didn't leave I would be getting the police involved. He finally left as my oldest son came in the room and stood behind me. We talked to our neighbor , who was embaressed about what had happened. His son had a friend that was selling the service and he got it and didn't know they were going to bother the neighbors using his name. This company needs to respect no soliciting signs. I live in Southern Utah and people I know that have these signs are either seniors that have trouble getting to the door or people that have kids with disabilities. Can't understand how that could be since the only equipment they installed was a panel. All the sensors on doors and motion and glass detectors are the ones ADT installed (wish I would have stayed with ADT). I am paying allot more money a month for nothing more than what I had. Have called several times for issues that still don't seem to be resolved. I would have gotten out of my contract except they want an arm and a leg to do that. The monitoring is way over priced. Moving into a new home in a month and currently pricing our security systems. I called vivint today to get a quote on equipment and monitoring service for my new home. They rep went through the whole sales pitch and finally gave pricing. He and I had a pleasant conversation and after he pitched pricing and said "can I go ahead and sign you up today" I replied that I was not looking to activate for a month, when I move--- he HUNG UP ON ME! I didn't even have time to finish my sentence. Vivint could have been a competitor for my business but not any longer, I was not worth their time of day as soon as they heard my opportunity was a month away. I run a customer service call center and If one of my sales agents was ever found to hang up on a caller because they didn't think they were closing the sale that day, they would be immediately released. That is completely unacceptable customer service. If this is how Vivint treats its POTENTIAL customers, I can't image how I would be treated once I was locked into a contract with them and they didn't have to try and sell me. This company will steal your money when they have not provided a service. When I set up a date for installation, Vivint took my money right off my card, as I was speaking to them. I cancelled the installation two days later. I was asked by the rep if I wanted my refund. Why would I be asked this question? Yes, I want my money back, I did not or will not receive a service. A week later I received an email that a check will be sent. I wasn't sure why a check would be sent versus a refund to my card. After a month, I didn't receive the check. I had called this company several times and no one could tell me why I was receiving a check or the check number. Every time I called, I received a different timeframe of when I would receive check. In the meantime, they were harassing me with emails and phone calls. I told them to remove me from their email and call list. They still emailed and called me. Then, almost 2 months later (after 1 of my calls) they said they would expedite my money back onto my card. It is now almost 3 weeks later and still have not received my money back on my card. If you want to just give money away, contact this company. I have contacted BBB as well. All I want is what is rightfully mine - my money. read more

I was happy with Vivint, until for health reasons I had to sell. I have never experienced any consumer company that has no interest in the customer problems. I renewed my contract over the phone, by saying "yes" to the gal on the other end of the line and had no idea that my health would get bad, i.e., 3 of 4 heart valves not closing properly and causing pain and no blood circulation in my legs. I talked to 2 managers and both refused to accept my terminating the contract upon selling. I sold the home at a $70,000 loss just to be near my doctors and hospital. Both managers insisted that I give them referrals, Try the convince the new owner to take over the service or get letters from my doctors. Can you imagine asking someone to accept the Vivint service, knowing that the best way to terminate a contract is to die. Death is easiest way out of a Vivint contract?? Fortunately I have access to a TV channel that services over 5million viewers in Michigan and millions of others in Ohio and Indiana. MY MESSAGE IS USE VIVINT ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS AND NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT FOR ANYTHING BUT ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS. I FEEL BAD GOING ON THE AIR AND EFFECTING THEIR CONTRACT SALES BUT IT IS IMPORTANT AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER. If I were trying to change the service to another service, that's different and I can see Vivint trying to not loose sales. I feel sad that a consumer company won't accept my word, that even when I sold my home for a large loss for medical reasons they want me and their customers to gravel. It almost seems sadistic. I have been a Vivint customer since 2010 and didn't have any problems or issues (that I know of) Until December 2016 when I called to let them know I was leaving town and was told that my system had not been working since Sept 2016. When I asked how that could be as my panel works. I was told that although the panel works and beeps.....my system was not communicating with them. In other words....if someone broke into my home they would NOT be notified. HOW was I suppose to know there was no communication between their system and mine if my panel works??? Here it is May 8, 2017 and I am STILL trying to get the issue resolved as well as get a credit on my account for the 7 months I have been paying (auto debit) but have had NO SERVICE!!!! Since Dec 16 I have made dozens of phone calls, lengthy hold times, lengthy conversations with over 10 different reps. who still CAN'T get me my credit nor an answer. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!! My wife and I signed up for their service in April. The wireless app doesn't always work, but that is the least of my problems with them. We were very clear with the sales team that came to our door that our house was on the market and that we could sell at any time. They told us no problem... Then we sell our house and the trouble begins. I've now been told there are multiple options to address this situation. The new owners want to have the monitoring service (God bless them). My choices are simple: 1. I can remain the owner of the system (and fully responsible for everything including the billing) and they will add the new homeowners as co-signers on the account. 2. I can move the system (but you have to take all of the expensive parts with you or buy new ones) to my new residence. 3. I can pay off the remainder of the contract (55mos @ $50/mo plus the remaining cost of the equipment). The only saving grace is that the new homeowners want to take over the monitoring service, so I am receiving a "special exception" to their rules and only have to pay $800 to get the hell away from them. I am freaking out right now with all these bad reviews. I have seen a few good ones and I realize that most reviews come from pissed off people which are going to be bad ones but this really not a company I want to do business with after doing my past due homework. We just got the sales pitch last night from a super nice guy with a professional tech team who installed our system. The equipment seems really cool and of high quality (we tested it out a few times). Afterwards (which I should have done BEFORE) I started looking at reviews and was wishing I wouldn't have made a decision. I know better too, I am the person who researches things for DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS before making any type of decision. I called the company today to cancel. They told me to send in my cancellation agreement that was included in the contract. I emailed AND faxed. The verbiage makes it sound like it will be cancelled and I will be refunded (haven't been charged yet). We shall see what happens but I am praying to GAWD that we don't run into a situation like the others have with all the hassles of trying to cancel and still being charged. Would have given 0 stars if possible. Have been a customer for 6 years, when we decided to cancel we were told that we would have to do it in writing and if they didn't receive it before the next billing cycle that we would be responsible for the next payment. We canceled in writing by email within a day, called in to verify that they received the notice and if the account was closed, when I was told that they did receive the notice but it would take 30 days to process. This company is crooked, they can process your payment as soon as you sign the contract but it takes them 30 days to stop the payment. In my opinion they are basically stealing customers money. I have seen a lot of other reviews stating this same problem, this is not an isolated issue. Stay away from this company. Vivint may get another $68.99 from me, but I hope they lose more in lost business from this review. read more

I would recommend the buyer beware. My sensors have fallen off until I superglued them and if one falls off and gets lost, they will make you pay for it. They don't stand by their product. Especially when it's a key component to your equipment, like the key pad to your front door. They can do this because you are locked into a lengthy contract. I have been with Vivint Wireless for 6 months. I would never recommend them to anyone. The service is amazingly unreliable and when it goes down, it is down for hours or even days. HORRIBLE SERVICE AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! If they knock on your door RUN! I set up service a couple months ago after moving into my new home in Draper. I thought the cameras were cool and thought it would be nice peace of mind to have security since I have 3 little ones. I didn't want a contract so I prepaid my whole agreement. The rep showed up and fell through my ceiling installing the system! They took 3 weeks to fix it and it still is very noticeable in my living room! They were not in any type of hurry to fix it. The worst part is now my cameras don't even work! It says they are offline everyday. I called in to fix the problem and for some reason the panel that connects to the wifi automatically disconnects after just a few minutes. I know my wifi works cause Im on my computer from home all day. Very frustrating to say the least. To make it even worse I just got billed 47.99 for monthly service that I prepaid! So to sum it all up, I have a broken home, cameras that don't work, and a monthly bill even though I prepaid my entire agreement! Thanks a lot Vivint! I am now on hold with customer service and have been holding for 49 minutes trying to cancel my 47.99. What a joke! read more

I read the previous review and I could pretty much paste it to my review, except this happened to my mom who lives alone and English is her second language. Cancelling it is difficult and she didn't even sign a contract. The bully just installed the security system and now I'm stuck trying to cancel it. I live in another state so it's very difficult. I'm going to every website to review this company so no one will have to go through this. Be careful and don't let any VIVINT sales person go near you. read more
