Like an addict, I cannot imagine my life without a Vol's Market. I grew up within walking distance and have been eating their hotdogs and drinking their sweet tea since the 80's. Our family moved away in the 90's to Atlanta but still make pilgrimages back to the Mother of All Knoxville Deli's to order dozens of Reuben's and gallons of tea to take back home with us. They steam their sandwiches in a way that you don't find outside of Knoxville delis. They also cash checks, carry loads of cash and everyone is carrying a gun which just adds to its authentic no nonsense appeal.

Fair hoagie but Gus's Good times deli, Nixon's and even Jason's are better Ice tea was good Good variety of chips. Seating is possible but you will be sharing a table. Plenty of help and speed of service was impressive

The best hot dogs and sweet tea!!! Everytime I come in town I always stop for my hotdog and Stormin Norman's sweet tea.

The staff is awesome, and the hot dogs are perfect. The ambiance is nostalgic with sports memorabilia.

Great little spot for a lox bialy and a latte…read more We got: -Potato blintz (not very flavorful but it went okay) -lox bialy (dill and scallion schmear, goood nova lox, red onion, cucumber, capers, tomato, sweet pepper relish and dill. served on an everything bialy. This was the star) -latte I'm deeply regretting my not grabbing a babka on the way out but it just gives me another excuse to head back!

Haven't had pastrami in a while so I had to order the Pastrami Reuben and the presentation was great with how it was stacked! Between the sauce and the sauerkraut the flavors were all good and I enjoyed the taste of the pastrami when I found it, but the bread to meat ratio was so high I mostly tasted the burned crust of the bread and very few bites of pastrami. It was one slice of pastrami, not a thin slice but not what you hope for when you bite into true Jewish deli pastrami, which are normally bursting at the seems with meat. Marble rye is hard not to burn and they did a good job for the most part, but I tasted more crust than I did pastrami, and for $18 I wonder if this sandwich was more a charge for the hype. The blintzes were also smaller than one would expect of a blintz but I absolutely loved the compote on top.

There's a side of beef on those buns, hamburger buns, not mine, at least not until after a few more visits. I ordered the SEC burger. It was full of perfectly grilled onions, an ample amount of bacon, cheddar cheese, and let's not forget the chunk of meat. The saying "the South shall rise again" is befitting, for the SEC surely rose to the occasion. My son-in-law ordered the Double Vol. Vol as in volunteer, but it could have stood for the abbreviation vol, as in VOLUME! Even after cutting his burger in half, he had difficulty arranging which angle to tackle the behemoth. After a couple of attempts, he finally got a handle on the thing and made quick work of it. He mentioned that a snake would have had a hard time getting its mouth around that burger. Even after dislocating its jaw! The boy loved the challenge as much as he loved the burger. Fries galore come with your burger selection. There is plenty enough to bring home in a box with what burger you may have left over. Now, let me discuss the milkshake bar. Sorry, but I can't. I wanted one big time. But my daughter reminded me that we had Buttermilk Sky Pie waiting for us back at the house. It won out this time. But my next visit to S and A's will include a milkshake without doubt. I did see a number of folks enjoying theirs. They all had smiles. There are plenty of tables and a huge TV, so you can bring the neighborhood with you. Don't worry about parking, there's plenty of that too. I bet this place rocks during a big game. True, southern hospitality greets you at the order counter. These folks were happy, polite, and smiling. They stayed that way as they came by to check up on you, making sure that your Sam and Andy's experience is a good one. Did they cater to my every whim? Well, every whim associated with food. I didn't pressure them. After all, it was only my first visit. Quick Tip: They serve Coca-Cola products. I didn't know what to get. My daughter suggested an Arnold Palmer. What the heck is that I asked. Lemonade and ice tea, she said. I opted for the Tiger Woods. Water.....( think about it before you "hazzard" a guess ).

After perusing the menu, I decided on a large Chicken Bacon Ranch w/lettuce, tomato, and mayo, accompanied by a bag of chips and a sweet tea. Within a few short minutes, my order was ready for pick up. The sandwich was more than satisfying - well crafted and big enough for two servings. Without a doubt, the fresh-baked bread was the star of the show. It was soft and absolutely delicious. Service was fast and friendly. There's ample indoor and patio seating. You can go through the front or the back and you're greeted when you walk in. It smelled so good walking in. I'm from California so I do not have an accent and I talk fast and literally every single employee turned to look at me when I was talking because as I'm told I stick out like a sore thumb. I ordered a whole Italian sandwich. A half a sandwich is definitely plenty because they cut each half into a half so you're getting four sandwiches. The sandwich was very flavorful and tasty. I also got a large strawberry lemonade. When they handed it to me I laughed and said wow you guys weren't kidding about a large. It was probably about a 32 ounce container. So I would definitely come back!
