That turkey and cheese goodness.
Sara S.

What's not to love about Nixon's?? It's a staple of Knoxville and a must for anyone who enjoys a good steamed sandwich. Their potato salad is amazing-both options. We stopped here so I could take my fiancé to one of my faves when I lived here and he loved the corned beef and mustard. I got my old fave-turkey and provolone on wheat. He's already asked to come back when we're in town.

The quality was disappointing. Bread was soggy right went I got a Turkey sandwich. The meat (we had Turkey and meatball sub) was poor quality. Their "freshly made" items are not from scratch, which it's insinuated they make from scratch from the way they word it. Service was disappointing as well because the cashier was berating my husband about him not getting as much food and kept up selling. The berating didn't stop for a while and when he wouldn't give in she made fun of him. We tried to take it lightly but in the end it was just weird to think it would be so funny. Ambiance is outdated and matches the quality you'll receive.

I always order the hot smoked turkey sub with smoked cheddar cheese. Yum!

Nixon's Deli is a classic! My family and I have been customers for as long as I can remember. The sandwiches here have remained consistent throughout the years and they've always been affordable. You can order two super subs for $12.99. It's a great deal and the sandwiches are always tasty. The workers are always friendly and prompt with our orders as well. I've never had a bad experience here!

From out of town and never had a steamed sub before, the people here were very friendly and great to talk to. The sub was stuffed with great tasting meats and the loaded potato salad was also very good. Definitely stop in for some great food

Food was great. I had a Turkey wrap and my husband had a hot Rueben. Not super friendly even when I said we had now been there ans found them on Yelp to know how to order the guy was pretty curt. Bathroom was not the greatest. Nice soft tortilla and meat. No masks on employees.

Just a simple little place with sandwiches that absolutely hit the spot. Come to this place for more bang for your buck than a subway or a firehouse subs. The food is way better and the charm of the employees at this place makes for an enjoyable experience. Ordered the Italian sub on white bread- FANTASTIC!

The peppered beef sub is chock full of flavor!

I'm a sucker for a good deli... and Nixon's satisfied my craving for a tasty sandwich. I ordered a large peppered beef sub and it was phenomenal! It was flavorful and they did not short-change me on the contents. Lots of meat and savory goodness was present! The diner itself was clean, pleasant, and had plenty of room. I liked being able to see the staff working, and they definitely operated like a family. I like diners like this, and I'll definitely be back to Nixon's.

Based on Yelp ratings, I tried the pastrami sandwich. It had a weird flavor and bland roll. Disappointing.

Great service but the few times I've gone the sandwich is soggy within minutes. So forget taking it home to eat it, it's a mess.

The sandwiches are fantastic. And if, like me, you're a fan of President Nixon, the name provides an extra touch of choice.

The food is fresh and amazing. Sat and sun 2 12 inch subs for 12.99 after 4pm. Eat one later, when I'm in town I always stop.

Haven't had pastrami in a while so I had to order the Pastrami Reuben and the presentation was great with how it was stacked! Between the sauce and the sauerkraut the flavors were all good and I enjoyed the taste of the pastrami when I found it, but the bread to meat ratio was so high I mostly tasted the burned crust of the bread and very few bites of pastrami. It was one slice of pastrami, not a thin slice but not what you hope for when you bite into true Jewish deli pastrami, which are normally bursting at the seems with meat. Marble rye is hard not to burn and they did a good job for the most part, but I tasted more crust than I did pastrami, and for $18 I wonder if this sandwich was more a charge for the hype. The blintzes were also smaller than one would expect of a blintz but I absolutely loved the compote on top.

There's a side of beef on those buns, hamburger buns, not mine, at least not until after a few more visits. I ordered the SEC burger. It was full of perfectly grilled onions, an ample amount of bacon, cheddar cheese, and let's not forget the chunk of meat. The saying "the South shall rise again" is befitting, for the SEC surely rose to the occasion. My son-in-law ordered the Double Vol. Vol as in volunteer, but it could have stood for the abbreviation vol, as in VOLUME! Even after cutting his burger in half, he had difficulty arranging which angle to tackle the behemoth. After a couple of attempts, he finally got a handle on the thing and made quick work of it. He mentioned that a snake would have had a hard time getting its mouth around that burger. Even after dislocating its jaw! The boy loved the challenge as much as he loved the burger. Fries galore come with your burger selection. There is plenty enough to bring home in a box with what burger you may have left over. Now, let me discuss the milkshake bar. Sorry, but I can't. I wanted one big time. But my daughter reminded me that we had Buttermilk Sky Pie waiting for us back at the house. It won out this time. But my next visit to S and A's will include a milkshake without doubt. I did see a number of folks enjoying theirs. They all had smiles. There are plenty of tables and a huge TV, so you can bring the neighborhood with you. Don't worry about parking, there's plenty of that too. I bet this place rocks during a big game. True, southern hospitality greets you at the order counter. These folks were happy, polite, and smiling. They stayed that way as they came by to check up on you, making sure that your Sam and Andy's experience is a good one. Did they cater to my every whim? Well, every whim associated with food. I didn't pressure them. After all, it was only my first visit. Quick Tip: They serve Coca-Cola products. I didn't know what to get. My daughter suggested an Arnold Palmer. What the heck is that I asked. Lemonade and ice tea, she said. I opted for the Tiger Woods. Water.....( think about it before you "hazzard" a guess ).

I ordered a whole Italian sandwich. A half a sandwich is definitely plenty because they cut each half into a half so you're getting four sandwiches. The sandwich was very flavorful and tasty. I also got a large strawberry lemonade. When they handed it to me I laughed and said wow you guys weren't kidding about a large. It was probably about a 32 ounce container. So I would definitely come back!
