I was downtown looking for a sandwich shop. Parking is a lil wonky. They do not have parking next to their building or a parking lot. So you have to park a block or two away. You can go through the front or the back and you're greeted when you walk in. It smelled so good walking in. I'm from California so I do not have an accent and I talk fast and literally every single employee turned to look at me when I was talking because as I'm told I stick out like a sore thumb. I ordered a whole Italian sandwich. A half a sandwich is definitely plenty because they cut each half into a half so you're getting four sandwiches. The sandwich was very flavorful and tasty. I also got a large strawberry lemonade. When they handed it to me I laughed and said wow you guys weren't kidding about a large. It was probably about a 32 ounce container. The bread was soft, tasted fresh baked, and held the sandwich together very well. My husband and I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwiches. I bought the full size, unsure of my husbands appetite, but we found that the full size fed us for two meals. The sandwiches held up in the fridge and tasted, almost, just as fresh the next day (the lettuce was slightly wilted as lettuce will do with dressing on it already). Well worth the price. This was a good Sammy place and had a wonderful outdoor area to just take in the weather and enjoy lunch. I ordered two half sandwiches on wheat bread: one was a Steamboat which was a more meaty than the Club. The sammies came with a pickle. I added a soda which our host refilled free of charge, and two bags of chips. Definitely, appreciated the warm weather too. The outdoor area had a couple of electric outlets for me to get some charge on my laptops and the folks didn't mind me leaching which was nice. We stayed for about 40 minutes enjoying respite from the heat of the sun under the shade of a tree where the table and chairs we were sitting. Absolutely loved my two experiences with Steamboat. I got their Italian sandwich and it's super delicious. Their GrubHub delivery expectations however are not consistent. My meal was missing items I ordered and they offer chips but do not allow you to select the different options they say they offer. The half as mentioned is plenty to one person. It is very filling and I feel the proportions are wonderful. The potato salad was good- but could use a tad more seasoning in my opinion. Overall, a nice place to go for lunch. I was so happy to see Steamboat reappear in the same building it occupied when I was in high school. It's been given a facelift for the good so you may not recognize it. Steamboat has always had the delicious fluffy bread that you smell the moment you walk in. Now when you order, the whole is the equivalent of 2 sandwiches. The half is the normal sandwich size. I normally order the turkey sandwich and you can customize what you would like on your sandwiches. They close at 3, so make sure you get there before then! So happy to have this place back. The place is small, but the sandwiches are BIG. A half is enough for one person, so we split a whole one. We ordered the Steamboat. The bread is the most unique aspect of their sandwiches. They were out of wheat, so we had the white. It's pillowy soft. The combination of meat veggies and condiments is perfect on this particular selection.
