Someone named Terry hung up on me 3 times. First time I thought it was a mistake. I was excited…read moreabout what I was looking for and not being some cranky buyer. If they don't carry what I was asking for she could have just said that. Very bizarre. No apology. When I called back a 3rd time I innocently said I think we might have got caught off (hoping to see if she would say anything as an explanation), but again she hung up. I don't normally leave a review, but that was seriously unprofessional for a business to do that.

Music and Arts on Route 31 in Clay, NY (bordering Baldwinsville, Liverpool and North Syracuse) is a…read morewonderful place that helps people of all ages renew their love and passion for performing music! I have started playing the guitar for the last three years after playing the trumpet for my lifetime. Mostly known as a place for renting, buying and fixing musical instruments, this place is so much more.., I've purchased instruments for my own children over the years but now I've discovered they do lessons, sell non instrumental items like a chimes to get attention of a class as well as books of many levels to start or continue your love of music! On Christmas Eve, Genna and Ray helped me restring a broken G string on my acoustic guitar and helped me buy valve oil for a newly acquired trumpet and books to play Disney tunes on the trumpet. Genna kindly took my phone call and explained what they could do for my broken string. After identifying what I needed, Ray swiftly repaired my guitar so I could continue to get better during this break. In the past, I have had a "drum corps" at my junior high where my students could make the transition to math class by playing Home Depot buckets with drumsticks. Music and Arts donated the drumsticks when I explained what I was doing. This is a great place represented by kind people like Genna and Ray. Stop by or give them a call! They are right by the new Larger than Life store where Pier One used to be.

I was looking for a drum store where I could buy a couple new cymbals and drumheads. Stopped here…read moreto see what they had and the gentleman who was actually covering the store for the owner was extremely helpful and found me some good deals and everything I needed. I ended up purchasing everything I needed; a ride cymbal, cymbal stand, bass pedal, drumsticks, and 4 new drumheads. He made the process very easy and talked me through everything that I needed. He even suggested I stop back in if anything didn't fit correctly or if I needed any of my drums tuned. Will definitely come by again!

Winston personally recommended Greg to do the work on my guitars, and, BoyOhBoy, did he ever do a great job! I was impressed at how patient he was and how cleverly he helped me figure out exactly how I wanted the installation done. I would more than recommend him to my friends now. Ronnie Dark helped me out with the purchase of the Polytone amp; I already know him as the so genial and hospitable host of Mac's Thursday Night Jams. On a really busy day for me, I was in and out of the store in no time, and we had put that vintage pile of transistors through it's paces in every way. I've been long aware of Mr Babikan's excellent reputation as a no nonsense proprietor you can trust, ever since the store in Eastwood in the 70s. Save yourself a lot of hassle - take your instruments here for repair and check here first for gear! Thanks, everybody!

I am a little bias as I am related to Phillip Lai. That said, his lessons speak for themselves; and…read moreafter only a few weeks of lessons, I can't imagine any parent or young artist disagreeing. You can ask for references or get a CD of his recitals which he'll happily provide to any skeptical prospective students. I've known him all my life and I cannot remember a time when the piano was a difficult skill for him. He is truly talented musician. Unlike others who are talented and can't understand why piano is difficult, Phillip knows how to explain the concepts and identify why a person is having trouble. He has a very results oriented method to teaching that differs from typical, stodgy approaches approaches. There are two things that clearly identify his talent in helping students learn this skill. 1) A recent recital had students of all ages (5-85) happy to show their skill in public. Some had only been taking lessons for 1 month. They all were able to complete a full song - of their choosing - and show well in public. 2) His students are happy both going into and coming out of the lesson. It is clear that Phillips enthusiasm is contagious. He knows how to get kids to embrace the joy of the instrument and that ultimately encourages them to practice and improve their skill. 3) He is extremely good with kids of all ages. He recognizes that you are asking him to provide a service. He spends time getting to know his students, what they are trying to accomplish and how to get them to that ability to accomplish this goal. The one downside that I would mention is that due to the popularity of his lessons, he does tend to be fairly booked. That said, I know he works really hard to fit all students in.
