I had been seeing the Volleman's milk at my local grocery store but had to research where the expiration date was. Once I found it, decided to give it a try. We purchased the whole milk and it was great. I am old enough to remember when home delivery was in glass bottles (reusable then just as now). We love their half and half creamer. I have read reviews complaining about the bottle charge. We are accustomed to this practice because the company we bought from in Virginia did the same thing. No big deal for us - we just simply take the bottles back the next time we go to the store. I prefer my dairy products in glass jars - so for me it's worth it. Love their products. BUYER BEWARE. This company's business model revolves around a sneaky, two-dollar upcharge PER BOTTLE being tacked onto their milk at the register while the unwitting customer sees an entirely different, significantly lower price reflected on the shelf in the store. (And by store, I don't just mean a company owned store, I mean ANY store that sells this company's milk.) The company then holds your two dollars hostage until you go all the way back to the store to return the empty bottle. Yes, this means you're completely screwed if you don't (or can't, due to finances, geographical location, work schedule, or disability) regularly go to whatever store you got it from. This is NOT marked on the bottle, so individual merchants are stuck taking the fall if a customer gets upset at the unexpected price gouge during checkout, a little kid gets excited then crushed because they thought their mommy or daddy could afford a bottle of special chocolate milk today but OOPS HIDDEN FEE, and if the customer is in a hurry and doesn't realize they got scammed until they get home and look closely at the receipt, the merchant is the one who has to deal with the chargeback and the false advertising complaints. Furthermore, this business practice is dishonest + outdated at best (lol, y'all gonna send a 1950s milk man to my home to retrieve the bottle at no cost to me?), and downright predatory at worst. Disabled and can't easily get to the store? Joke's on you! Volleman is keeping your two bucks! Live someplace rural or suburban with no public transit? Waste way more than two dollars on gas or an Uber to take an empty bottle to the store so you can get your two bucks back from Volleman! Working multiple jobs, bogged down with childcare, and the milk you got as a special treat for your family not only caused you to overdraft, but also ate up your coffee money? THANK VOLLEMAN FAMILY FARMS! tl;dr - There's a two dollar hidden fee to BUY MILK from this company because they charge you two extra bucks to rent the bottle. I couldn't make this crap up if I tried. They don't deliver the milk, they don't have a system to retrieve the bottles in a manner that's remotely easy for the consumer, and they don't even let you put the bottles in with your local recycling. This isn't about the environment - it's only about money gouging. They don't provide any special services or anything to actually warrant the fee. They just charge you extra, hope you don't notice, and make you jump through a bunch of hoops to get your money back if you do. read more

I saw folks misunderstanding the $2 charge- it's a normal return the clean bottle and get it back deal. To those who think cornstarch in Chocolate milk is somehow bad, I suggest you read the labels on every chocolate milk sold. I have used the milk and cream and it was equality, so either support local dairies or continue to support big food industries who put poisons in our food. read more

I bought a bottle of the chocolate milk decided to read the ingredients when I got home. This company puts corn starch in the chocolate milk. Why? Corn starch isn't good for you, and definitely makes the milk taste funny. Don't buy it. Plus the upcharge on the bottles is ridiculous.
