My fiance and I did a ton of research when looking for our GSD pup and are so thrilled we found Nadia at Von den Oher Tannen. We picked up our boy Kimber over Labor Day weekend and have had him for two months. When I say he is the epitome of a well-bred GSD, I mean it. He is confident, temperamentally-sound, curious, and eager to please. While we put in a *ton* of work with him for the first 8 weeks (and of course have had to deal with the landshark phase, ha!), we pinch ourselves every day that we have such an obedient and well-tempered dog at such a young age. He is gentle in play with our more-fragile 14-year old dachshund, he has ridden in the car like a champ from day one, and we cannot take him anywhere without people stopping their cars or going out of their way to remark on how gorgeous he is (or to comment on how well-behaved he is for a puppy). I picked up a puppy a little over a month ago named Erin (we call her Rose) and I am very happy with her. She is super easy to train and is really calm. Update: I can honestly say this dog is the best pup I have ever heard of and she exceeds my expectations. She is kind and sweet, through and through. She is wonderful with animals, children, adults, strangers, trash cans, cars, strollers, doorbells, being home alone, thunder, long car rides, loud crowds, power drills, fire trucks, and other such stimuli. It is a joy to be able to take her to parks and restaurants and know that she is safe with kids, even when they sprint up to her. She is incredibly intelligent and was learning "sit" and "down" the first week I had her home. She is calm and loving. She has bonded to me so deeply, and I to her. She is the easiest puppy I have ever known. Please don't get me wrong, she is still young and we work very hard every day with her. But she is an entirely different caliber of canine. Nadia has been a resource the whole way through. We spoke and emailed extensively while I waited for my pup to be born and grow. Since she's come home, I have needed Nadia a few times and she was there. I know I can call or text her in the future and she will be there, too. Worst experience ever. After multiple tell tale signs we should pass on doing business with Nadia we decided to put a deposit down. My 5 yo really wanted a GSD. We waited the 2 months. We talked days leading up to pick up day. We arrive as scheduled and look at the dog. We pay her in full, sign the papers, and are ready to head home. She then proceeds to hand us a bag of medicine and tells us the dog is sick. Completely unprofessional. We had our 5 yo with us as it was his Christmas gift. My back was against the wall and I had already paid her so we took the dog home. The dog had massive diarrhea and no appetite. After 4 days and a concern for her health we returned her. Then we were approached with another surprise. She said she was keeping our $500 initial deposit. So she hurt a 5 years olds feelings and took our money. Buyers beware. I also want to mention it seems as though she is running pretty much a puppy mill. And there were other dogs with issues like missing toes etc. I will follow up with AKC etc. In response to your reply. Yes, you did know it was a so called Christmas gift. And no one said it was a toy. Just timing so not sure why you want to criticize us calling it a gift. We approached you two months earlier and was currently looking back then. if you had one available we would've purchased then and not at Christmas time. So call it whatever you want. You lack professional qualities I would expect from someone charging $2500 for a dog. You didn't even have a receipt book to give us a receipt of the initial down payment, we purchased the dog sight unseen and you promised pics which we never got until weeks later. I can go on but no need. Bottom line is you refrained from telling us the dog had a health issue until I paid you in full and after we signed all the papers. To me and everyone else I have spoken with except for your online nutswingers everyone says that is very unprofessional. I plan on following through with legal action, not for the money, but for the point. Hopefully you will be more honest with future clients. As for your fan club, they don't bother me one bit and weren't there. Im glad they had a better experience. Only you and I know what took place. And to me it was unprofessional. We bought our first Oher Tannen puppy in 2010 because she was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. We soon learned that Nadia breeds to the German standard (SV) which requires that dogs bred for the show ring must earn working titles in order to compete in conformation as adults. Thus we learned about the sport of IPO which involves tracking, obedience and protection work. With Nadia's help we have found a trainer to work with us and our dog(s). Yes, we got our second OT dog in 2012, our third in 2014, and now we have a new puppy! We have literally gone to the dogs and are enjoying every minute with them and our new sport of IPO as well as showing our girls in conformation. We have had German Shepherds since 1978, and each of those dogs was special, but these dogs are incredible! The individual who is attempting to flame Nadia seems like an unhappy individual. I have two Oher Tannen dogs. I started with one and soon knew I had to have another. I can not imagine what Brian D is talking about. Multiple tell tale signs?? I saw no such thing. Her dogs are all well cared for and it is immediately obvious plenty of time is spent with them. Puppy Mill? Are you kidding me? Brian D obviously does not know what a puppy mill actually is if he thinks that. Puppies require more than one worming. This is normal Nadia sending home the meds does not indicate a sick pup but rather that she's doing you a favor. She could just tell you to go to your own vet and buy the meds yourself. I have no doubt whatsoever that Nadia would NEVER send a sick puppy home with anyone. My oldest OT dog is 3. Nadia has always been and remains available for questions or any concerns. Nadia cares about the breed. She works diligently in her breeding program to assure her puppies are healthy, stable dogs. All puppies have intestinal parasites. The initial treatment must be followed up until the vet fecal test is negative. I have had six GSD puppies from various breeders and all needed follow-up treatment. I acquired a female GSD from Nadia. She insisted I stay all day with the dog to bond while she observed me and interrogated me about my qualifications. The dog is gentle and sweet. Subsequently I acquired a male GSD from her. I can't say enough great things about Nadia and about our GSD we got from her, Pixel. Oher Tannen is raising some great quality, loving GSDs. Pixel is complimented almost every where she goes on how beautiful and healthy she is. She is also completely adored by my husband and myself. We absolutely love her and will be talking to Nadia in the future about another one when the time comes! As far as puppy diarrhea, that is to be expected. They are very young with under developed immune systems and they are being moved homes. It takes them awhile to acclimate and to get their immune systems built up. Pixel also had diarrhea when we brought her home. Nadia did the same run down with us and provided us with antibiotics. And sure enough Pixel got very nervous when she came home for the first time and had diarrhea in our house. She was lethargic the next day and stuck very close to my husband and I. We simply kept giving her the medicine and making her home environment comfortable. She rebounded so quickly (within a day) and made her self right at home! We even chatted to the vet about it and our vet wasn't at all concerned. In fact our vet gushes on her every time we take her in for a routine visit and she always has had a clean bill of health. Our vet says she is the best part of her day. And I know she is telling the truth because she doesn't say the same thing when Pixel's two feline sisters visit ;-) Thank you Nadia for giving us such an amazing dog/family member. We love her so much! I would definitely recommend anyone seriously looking for a GSD family member to talk to Nadia. But you have to be serious about it! ;-) GSDs are a very active, smart breed. I purchased a trained dog from Nadia Adams a couple of months ago and I was worried because I had not met her before. However, all I heard from learned friends was that she was a serious German Shepherd breeder and lover of the breed and totally honest. So I contacted her about buying a trained dog with many requirements to fit into my crazy life and household, which in retrospect seems unattainable. For instance, I have a tiny Yorkie who is dog aggressive! Can you imagine him attacking a huge male German Shepherd and living! I also have a mediation company, Mediators of Texas, where among other things we offer mediation services to disabled veterans; so lot's of things going on at my house and at my office. But I didn't want a puppy, for various reasons a trained dog was necessary. Nadia not only paired me with the right dog but personally flew him from Georgia to Texas to make sure the "fit" was right and to help me adjust to him and visa versa. Remember, I had never met her before, she didn't need to do it and she never asked me to pay her in advance AND she didn't charge me extra for this extraordinary customer service. Interesting... My experience with Nadia and Von den Oher Tanned was completely opposite from the one other review I noticed on Yelp. Completely opposite! When I lost my best friend, Sarge, to a very aggressive cancer, I went on an exhaustive search for a breeder of the highest quality german shepherds I could find. When I came across Nadia's website and saw her tag line "Home of the Most Amazing Creatures on Earth", I thought I may have found what I was looking for. Someone who feels about GSDs like I do. I drove 8 hours to visit Nadia, who graciously spent over two hours answering all the questions I had and offered more information that I had not thought of. I had the great pleasure of meeting Bella, Willow, Harlow and the rest of her beautiful ladies. I was even introduced to Ms. Mafia. A beautiful young female that is sure to live up to her name.
