If I could give ZERO I would...BEWARE! Please take your dog anywhere but here. We signed our puppy up for a 2 week board and train hopeful to get her to walk on a leash better. She had a lot of energy and wanted to play with everyone. She was a regular at doggy daycare and never had any issues or reactivity. Everyone loved her. We worked on basic commands at home, but leash pulling and distractions were an issue. After reading reviews and the 100% guarantee spiel, we dropped our girl off with high hopes. I emailed to check in on Zura, we were told we would get updates daily, and I do not feel the trainer was very professional. Several times he sounded too busy, or was out doing other things. 2 long weeks later, we picked up our pup and I was shocked. She was extremely underweight and came home acting off. She seemed nervous and unsettled. The trainer sent snippets of videos everyday and I asked what our dog was doing the rest of the time, I never got a response. My husband reached out to the trainer and the owner and they gave this speech about her adjusting and being consistent. The day after she came home, my husband took her on walk and she freaked out. She was screaming and was super anxious. Naturally we contacted the owner and at first she was extremely condensing and unprofessional. She yelled at me and implied I didn't know what I was talking about. I have actively rescued and rehabilitated dogs for the past 20 years. This is the first time I had ever outsourced training due to health issues. After a heated conversation she decided that "She wasn't happy with our dogs board and train and she would like to take her for a week". JoAnne had our dog for 4 days. Our dog came home with welts on her neck (both sides) from the shock collar and a scab on her back leg. We took her to the vet and she stated that it looked like our pet had been mistreated. Our dog seemed very high strung and agitated. I would take the ecollar off at night or when she was in her kennel, and she was very reluctant and skittish when I tried to put it back on. The trainer told my husband if our dog wasn't listening to turn up the number on the ecollar. It didn't work, it just made our dog panic. When we first started training, we asked about the ecollar and how high it got. They said it was like a tens unit, and didn't hurt them. That is not true. They turn it up very high and told us to do the same. Our dog left to the board and train a goofy puppy and came back extremely fearful and anxious. Our dog had been crate trained since she was 10 weeks old. After her board and train, she started screaming in the crate, and digging at her bed. She also had several accidents in the crate, she had never displayed that behavior before. My heart was broken for our girl. I reached out to a K9 Behavioral Specialist and after assessing our dog, they agreed that our dog had been mistreated. She associated the ecollar with punishments' rather than positive reinforcement. This place does not care about the wellbeing of your dog, they care about money. It is a franchise, and perhaps they have some locations and trainers who actually know what they are doing, but not here. After everything, there was zero chance we were taking our dog back to them and expressed this to Bryan and JoAnne, she stated "your dog will never be off leash, your are going to have to accept that." I challenged the 100% guarantee and requested a refund. We never heard from them again. The guarantee is not real. They never apologized or showed any concern or empathy for our dog. I have several videos that they provided while she was at training that are uncomfortable to watch. They try to conceal the shocker in their hand while filming, but if you pay close attention, you could tell our dog was constantly being shocked to comply. Please take your pet elsewhere. We have a GSD who we rescued and who had been on the streets for apparently quite some time. She was about a year and a few months old so she's quite lively as well as headstrong and physically strong! I couldn't walk her and my husband barely could. We discovered OLK9 and enrolled her in the two-week training. Our trainer Carolina, was excellent! When we got her back, we were able to walk her and enforce the commands she learned there. We still needed to work with her every day of course, and still do. What we appreciated too was that we could take her for a refresher anytime we were having problems and we availed ourselves of this once so far which helped. My 3rd old pit bulldog mix did a 2 week board and train with Savanna. I loved getting daily updates on my sweet girls progress! I have a one-year-old standard poodle, Noodle, who is already really well behaved. I'd say he was a good boy before but now he's a GREAT boy! I initally wanted to get him ecollar trained so I can have more control at the dog park when he humps other dogs. I got WAY more out of our sessions than expected. Noodle knew the basic obedience commands (sit, place, come, down) but would do it on his terms. A week after his ecollar training, he was immediately listening to me on the first command. I think it's important to note that I trained with Noodle outside of our class almost 5 times a week for 30+ minutes. We did the basic obedience class with Emily who was the perfect trainer for us! She is very encouraging, positive and reassuring. She taught me how to properly handle the ecollar and how to praise Noodle when he's doing a good job. Emily really put things in perspective for me and reassured me that Noodle and I were on our way to success. Just don't. I would never do this again. My dog had scabs on his neck from the e-collar. They said it was where his neck was sensitive...his spirit was broken when we came home. I gave the trainer feeding instructions (3x per day) with his large bag of food. I explained that at 8 months old he still needed to be let out in middle of night to do his business (like clockwork). Upon picking him up I was told that he only needed two meals per day, didn't need let out in the middle of the night, had a bark collar on him and to keep his crate as far away as possible. This wasn't training at all! He feared my dog into submission! I never told him to change his feeding schedule, his potty schedule or authorize use of a bark collar. Instead I was told everything would be done as I said and that the trainer would set his alarm to get up and let my pup relieve himself at night. When he came home hardly any food was missing from the bag I had sent. He had lost weight. No treats were given. He got in the door and collapsed on the floor and would hardly move. I hate myself for putting my dog through that but we are working on regaining his trust daily except for he is now afraid of men. It was super expensive for one week but it was the only option I found for financing. I have never received one call or text since bringing him home as a follow-up or to see how he is doing. I took my dog there to get training as I am older and wanted to be able to walk him and be able to handle him as he is a larger breed. My mistake! Stay away. read more

I use the one on one private training and I learn alongside my dog. Prior to lessons, my dog had learned bad habits and ignored instruction. Now he focuses on me more. At 4months old My Standard Bred Poodle Puppy George was best described as satan (but our church friends referred to him as Lucifer) George was my first puppy in 30 years! I had previously trained AKC Champion Field Trial Retrievers and thought this little fluffy puppy would be a piece of cake! I couldn't have been further from the truth! George was nothing like any dog I'd ever trained and I knew my methods would not work for him! Luckily I volunteer at NCHS and Saw K9 Off Leash's brochure at the desk! At the puppy Assessment appt Anna zeroed in on Georges weaknesses- Lack of focus, no self-control, no respect for authority and a lot more no's! He did have an idea of sit, here, heel and place... but not much more! Anna explained to me what needed to be done BUT not till George was 5 Months old! Well he was only 4 months old and I was at my wits end! No way could I make it until he was 5months old ( Your minimum age to start training) Anna gave me several exercises to do with George until he was 5months old! Literally the minute he Turned five months old he was at your place with Anna For board and train! Anna took this baby raptor and taught him Control, respect, confidence and gave him a job. All dogs need a job! We lived for Anna's updates! We couldn't believe our Eyes! Friends told us that it was not George but a stand-in! The most Important thing I noticed was ....George was happy! We knew our puppy Scooby was going to be a big guy and we wanted him to be able to go wherever we went. So we chose Off Leash K9 Training. Shadow and I had a great experience working with the team. I learned a ton from the three trainers we had. Shadow showed them how intelligent he was for a senior dog. I wasn't impressed at all. Me and my dog learned a lot but in a controlled environment at their facilities. It was impossible to schedule a time where we could go to a real-life scenario like a park. They post a lot of videos of dogs in Lowe's but these must be their board and train dogs because I was never given this option. Everything I learned still only works in a controlled environment and I have no control over my dog when I'm out walking a pass another dog. Five months ago we bought a wire fox terrier (WFT) we named RZA. Researching the breed, we knew training would be imperative. More research brought us to Off Leash Training in Smyrna. The staff was knowledgeable, professional, and committed to our dog's success. We started with an initial consultation to understand the best way to housebreak and then enrolled our pup in the board & train program, which wouldn't start until he was five months old. WFTs are smart but willful little dogs and can be a handful so the wait for training was at times trying. Off Leash has made all the difference. Two weeks with Emily turned our dog from a wild thing into an obedient and well mannered member of the family. Every day for two weeks we received photos and videos documenting RZA's progress. They not only trained our dog, they trained us to be confident and in control with our WFT. I've had dogs my whole life. We all have that family dog that everyone loves, but still manages to jump up on folks when they get in the house, barks too much, and just runs off if they escape the dog park or the back yard. When my girlfriend and I recently got a new boxer mix puppy, she was new to most of those issues, and refused to let them continue. She looked and looked and called and called, and decided on Off Leash K9 and Bryan. I scoffed, mostly at the idea, and more than a little at the price, but good lord I'm glad I was wrong. These guys turned our loving, rambunctious, moderatly annoying Rye into the picture of obedience. My friends are shocked and usually mention how much better she is. In only 4 classes, they've helped us build a dog to what it should be, a trusting and loving companion, that hangs on your every word, and really seems to enjoy life more. She was hyper and had a ton of energy, but while that energy is there, its metered and under control. She will sit and stay, and lay and place, all the while looking up at us, waiting for the next command. Telling her BREAK to get out of it seems to be the highpoint of her day, and she runs to us happily to get all of our love and attention for being such a good girl. The guys were even patient with us humans, teaching us how to respect, and get the respect from the dogs. Even when we were super worried about the tightness and shocks of the collar, they let us feel it, and explained how it worked, and what to do if the dog reacted badly. Our pet is now a true member of the family, and we actually have other family members requesting that we bring her to functions now. That is simply amazing. My little princess Vivian did the 2 week board and train in Augusta, Ga with trainer Ryan. He was very friendly and kept me informed throughout the 2 weeks with email updates along with pictures and videos. I know there will be hiccups along our route back together and she will try and push her daddy cause that's what fur babies do. But I feel with the foundation that Ryan started we will do fine. I noticed a difference of day and night from the time I dropped her off to getting her back. My review is for John, at the Smyrna location. We just completed our third training session with him, but I feel that we have experienced enough that I can leave an adequate review. We have a 5 year old, rambunctious, energetic, stubborn, never before trained German Shepherd who we really needed to have some manners. Our dog is super sweet, but she really just acts however she would like to-- we are aware that this is solely our faults. We started with OLK9 knowing that not only would our trainer's work be cut out for him, but ours as well. John is amazing and we are so grateful for him. He is working with our dog to instill good habits and manners in her, but also working with us to break our bad habits as well. He has been very clear and concise in letting us know that this will only work if we all (him, our dog, and us) do our parts. We noticed changes and improvements in our GSD after just the first lesson and we have seen progression each week that we work with John. We make sure to listen to what he says and to practice, practice, practice! It will take us a little more time and effort than it may take some others, because we have to correct five years of just plain wrong, but I am confident that OLK9 has given us the tools that we need to live comfortably with a well behaved dog. read more

This review will be for Brett Lawrence at the Smyrna location of Off Leash K9 Training Georgia. We have a 14 month old male Australian Cattle Dog that we recently adopted from Atlanta Humane Society. As much as we love him, he was having some behavioral issues and was in need of some training that was beyond what we could do at home. We didn't want to have any issues with future guests due to our dog's behavior so we sought out some help online. After looking at several places, we were really impressed with the before and after videos listed on their website. We decided to schedule an appointment with Brett and even though it seemed pricey at first, we figured it would be worth it if our dog was more behaved. After going through the basic training with Brett and my dog, I have to say it was definitely worth it. The price includes four sessions as well as the e collar that is used to help redirect your dog to your commands. You start with the sit command and eventually get to place, which is a 'stay' command, and then heel. When I saw videos of dogs walking off leash in public places, I though I'd never be able to have my dog do that. But with Brett's help, my dog was able to become calm and actually follow commands, instead of just doing tricks. Now I'm able to trust him on off leash walks and he's so much more well behaved both at home and outside. If you're looking to have some help training your dog, you'll definitely get your money's worth working with Brett. read more

K-9 Off-Leash was a lifesaver! Our overly enthusiastic Pit mix can now walk the neighborhood without a leash and we can open the door to the pizza guy without our guy slobbering all over him. Came in with our pit bull had a small amount of training and within one hour of work our dog brewski was a new man or mutt. He more in tune with what we were having him do and listened to every command given. The instructors were very gentle with him into not hurting him we tested the collar out on ourselves to put us at ease that we weren't hurting him. Update - So while the owner, outside of his missive below, did nothing to help the situation, the gentleman that actually trained my dog took action. The trainer reached out to me and apologized for any miscommunications, asked for my address again (still not clear why the business does not retain client addresses, but whatever), and shipped the missing items to me. Now my veterinarian can actually contact the veterinarian that treated the dog while he was in training to unravel what the issue actually was. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! (PTC Location) One star is seriously not low enough for this place. I paid $900 for my dog (1.5 yr old GSD) to go through the Dog Reactive Program and after the end of this program, he still cannot even see another dog without going wild and continues to get in dog fights. You get an electronic collar and spend the first 4 lessons teaching you "basic" training including sit, come, place and then the 4 "dog reactive" lessons were basically him learning those lessons again in the presence of other dogs. It was an absolute waste. I did the daily training with him, took him around other dogs and did what I was supposed to do outside of our weekly sessions. I moved my schedule around so I could work with the trainers that were recommended for him. I really don't care if my dog can hold the 'place' command or not, I want him to not attack other dogs! I voiced this to all the trainers I worked with and they all insisted this was the RIGHT way. It obviously wasn't!! This is an absolute WASTE OF MONEY for dogs with serious reactivity. Please, please, please do not spend close to a THOUSAND dollars and 8 weeks of your life to not even scratch the surface of your dog's reactivity problem. TL;DR- This place is a freaking joke, don't waste your money like I did. read more

After watching the many videos online, we were excited to try Off Leash K9 Training. We thought it was a bit expensive, but if it worked, felt it would be well worth the cost. We selected the Board and Train program. Our dog already knew basic commands, sit, stay, and even roll over. The trainer we had was very nice and professional, and seemed to be very knowledgeable. Other than teaching him to "place," (i.e. go to a specific location and stay), the training did not really help. He was of course on his best behavior whenever I had the remote and could administer a shock (you would be too). However, our goal was not to train him to just respond to the remote. In addition, the trainer informed us that our dog became overheated during one of the training sessions and had to be rushed to the vet. His right eye was also bleeding. We were told this several days after the event occurred. Off Leash K9 apologized and offered 2 additional sessions with the trainer. The receiver/collar stopped working less than a year after purchase (the manufacturer provided a replacement at no cost). Mary did an amazing job training my 10 month old Husky, KoKo! I got daily updates with videos and pictures of KoKo's progress. She started out crazy and would never listen where now I can walk her without a lease without fear of her running away. Would HIGHLY recommend the 2 week board and train. Like the other reviewers, I cannot say enough great things about our experience with Bryan and Off Leash K9 Training. First, some background: I have a 1.5 year old half Shepherd half Husky. I love my furbaby to death but she was super shy, not confident, prone to running away at any chance she got, stubborn, and too smart for her own good. I chose to do training after she had turned one since so that she could be a little more "mature" when we went to class. I have owned her since she was a baby so she was not a rescue. I couldn't take her on a walk without losing my shoulders/extreme jerking and the times that she got loose, I would spend 1-2 hours trying to get her back on leash to come home. I often took her to the dog park but would waste so much time trying to get her to leave. She was simply uncooperative and disobedient. One day I finally got to a breaking point. We were at the dog park (I live in the city so the park is located at a touch and go part of town and is not lit after dark) and the sun had gone down. All the other dog owners had gone home and I was stuck there in the dusk, feeling like it could become a dangerous situation with a stubborn dog. That was when I decided I had to invest in some training. I looked up several reputable dog trainers in the area. I considered the flat rate as many classes as you need training (about $250 for the package) to the doggie bootcamps (around $2k) that I think Off Leash provides as well. I went with Off Leash's 4 class package (about $600) since it would be one on one attention and I didn't think my fur child had serious behavioral issues but simply needed some obedience. I could not have made a better choice. Bryan employs the use of e/shock collars and initially I was not sure about the e-collar because I thought there were only used for extremely aggressive or "mean" dogs. I really appreciated the fact that Bryan had me feel the sensation that the collar would give off before we even started the training. I had to turn the setting up to 8 before I felt anything in my hand (during our training sessions we rarely even go to 6 on my fur child). It made me realize that it is used to get the dog's attention but it was not painful for her. Anyone who has done physical therapy would have felt something similar on the STiM machine. Bryan is very clear and a good teacher. During class, it is just as much about training the owner and giving us confidence as it is about the dog and giving her confidence. Right away, his comfort level and ability to train my dog was evident. He tells you that practice away from class is important and you get as much out of it as you put into it. I must confess that I did not practice as much as we should but even still, I am amazed at how responsive my dog is. He knew exactly how to address her and answered all the questions I had. Like other reviewers have stated, she has turned a 180. Just this past weekend, I took her on a long walk on a popular trail in Atlanta and she was absolutely amazing on the walk, even with so many distractions (bikes, babies, birds/squirrels/cats, other dogs, and lots of people). She would heel when I needed her close and there was no pulling on the leash as we walked. It is entirely because of Off Leash K9 that I can walk my dog in public without fear or anxiety. It is not a chore for me and both my furchild and I can enjoy our time as intended. She didn't have any behavioral issues at home so I can't really speak to that but all the techniques he teaches can be used indoors or outdoors and she obeys the commands when my brother or small children give them to her. I spent the time writing a really long review because I am so happy with my results and I want people to know and take a chance with Off Leash K9. I truly feel like it was time and money well spent. I highly recommend Off Leash Atlanta. It has made a huge difference in our dog and our relationship with her. We got her from a rescue and while she was very sweet, she didn't listen to us at all and whenever we went outside she was constantly trying to run away. Walking her on a leash wasn't fun and we were very frustrated. I looked at a couple different places for training but they were hesitant because she has some hound in her and they said hounds are hard to train. We went to the free consultation with Off Leash and were very impressed. So, we booked a package. Bryan is very professional and he knows his stuff. He explains things clearly and makes it easy to understand. A big part of training a dog is also teaching the owner(s) how to do things and he does a great job of this. He explains the "dog psychology" behind why you do things and it really helps. He is very knowledgeable and experienced and you can tell that he really loves dogs.
