    Picking up pups froM daycare
    Preeti M.

Von Trapp is our go-to for daycare/lodging for our fur babies ! The best part of this is the people there love their jobs and the animals - and it shows! Reasonable prices and great service! ~~ Location ~~ Easy to get to, as they're located in midtown Savannah on Waters Ave. There's plenty of parking around the building and they currently offer curbside service as safety precautions. ~~ Services & Ambience ~~ They have day care and lodging services for your pups and kitties. They also have additional services such as baths and nail trimming . We always have our pups go for daycare and one of our dogs had stayed for 3 days there. It was a good experience . They have individual rooms for the dogs and if your pup needs medical attention or needs to be lodged alone, they have the option of zen suites with their own outside area. All the daycare areas have webcams, which is a huge plus for us as we were very nervous about our anxious new rescue meeting the other dogs and people there. It was amazing to observe how they introduced her to other dogs and eventually we saw her frolicking about with other dogs. Also, every area has someone supervising the pups at all time. It is very clean (we observed them cleaning up immediately after a pup has an accident). Another fun part of daycare/lodging is the pool time!! My boy loves his water and he has a great time in the pool (we observed on the cameras) . I also highly recommend the bath and nail trimming as they have always done an exceptional job with my babies. The owner is a Vet and the staff are highly knowledgeable, so its reassuring for us to leave the pups there. Note that they have strict rules on the pups being up to date on vaccines and yearly tests for parasites for the safety of their other residents. ~~Hours & Pricing ~~ They are open from 7am to 7 pm : you can drop and pick up your pup during these hours . On Holidays, daycare is closed but they do lodge. As for the pricing, it is very reasonable for the service received. I highly recommend Von Trapp for your fur babies as my pups come back happy, clean and tired from daycare!

ya... while I think their medical advice is sound, and from what I could tell about their surgical…read morecompetency it's on par with what a medical hospital should be, and the staff is always friendly... the rest of my experience is not great. I have been using their services for a little over three years now. Every day or at least 3 times a week I get an email blast from them advertising care and medicines for sale. That practice alone gives me the creepy crawlies. But also when I take my dogs in for tech work, such as a monthly shot, Im hounded by extra costs and unnecessary exams and tests. If they had their way, what should be a 90$ visit explodes into a $300 visit. One year ago, the monthly Librella injection cost $70 with tech, today it is $101. One year ago, the proheart 6 injections were the "less expensive choice vs heart guard and the reason to do it. This is how they advertised it to me. They have marked up the cost by more than $50. I guess they figured I wouldn't check now that it is a renewing prescription. Today, I wanted heartworm shots for my dogs and they insisted that an annual exam was "required by law" in order to qualify for the heartworm medicine. Vet clinic policy is not law. I went to PetFix down the road, and they only required the heartworm test and proof of rabies vaccination. It feels SOOO CORPORATE!!! I want my vet and their techs to be more grounded and not so fundamentally driven by milking every penny they can from me. I completely understand that they have to make a profit to survive, but this is ridiculous. It's like taking your car to the dealership to get serviced; same repair, higher cost. If paying through your nose is your thing, then Case is for you. For the "annual exam" required to just get heartworm meds for two young dogs under 3 tears old ends up to be $330 PER PET!!! and that doesn't include the cost of the heartworm injection! For my elderly dog, he's 17, $381 before even paying the 170 something they want for the heartworm! settle down people, settle down. Also, they're on a really busy street with no fence, so if your pet jumps out of your car, you get the extra fun bonus of experiencing a heart attack.

The lady on the phone was super nice and scheduled around the perfect time for me. Once I got into the room the doctor and nurses were great. They were very gentle and informed me of benefits of fixing my pup. I did not feel pressured like how I did at the last vet.

They surely didn't seem grateful either!" I hope this message is viewed by anyone looking to use their services. I have three dogs and there's no way I'd leave them with a company like this. There have been no mystery nicks, weird skin reactions to harsh shampoos, or razor burn. Just cute puppy :) I love all the dogs in the facility (I think they also do a doggy daycare sort of thing) and how happy they all seem. My only complaint (and it's mostly my fault) is that appointments need to be made 2 or 3 weeks in advance. Whenever I call to make an appointment a week or so in advance, I'm always told they can't see him until 2 or 3 weeks, so by the time he's going in he looks like a little shaggy mountain man. Still the best groomer I've tried in Savannah!

On two occasions I had to call to make a last minute reservation because other places were booked, and catnips n biscuits saved the day. Staff is super attentive, honest, and caring with my pup. I noticed at some other places, my dog gets nervous to go in when he's being boarded, but when he goes here he's actually excited. They don't put collars on the pups while they're being boarded. Personally, I like this because my pup doesn't have one at home. I can see how it might make other people nervous, but this works for us. After one of our last visits, he didn't get to receive a bath that we paid for, but staff reached out to us and told us this. They gave us a credit for our next stay. The cages are small and with SOLID fronts - no ventilation except for a few small holes. I heard a fan but I don't know if it was circulating in the cages. If there were a power outage, the kitties would have no way of getting air. Very restrictive hours for dropping off and picking up. My cat is a diabetic and has to have insulin twice a day. When they gave me back his unused medication, there was a dose that was not given.
