As a shared transportation advocate, I am spoiled when hopping on a Vonlane: large, comfortable, reclining chairs; friendly attendants with well-stocked coffee/snacks/pillows/blankets; sparkling bathrooms; and easy scheduling. It's an enjoyable way to get between the Texas downtowns, at the same (or less) door to door travel time of trying to get to the airport, waiting, flying, and taking a lyft back home (and at a lower all-in price point). Even when things go wrong, Vonlane delivers. On a trip today from San Antonio to Houston, a large bird collided with the windshield. The driver cautiously pulled the bus off the road, and Vonlane arranged taxi transport to get us to our destination as the bus went off to get repaired. Vonlane communicated fully during this time, and found alternate solutions for us. read more

Buyer beware! First, the bus I took looks nothing like the photos. The leather seats are dirty and old. The attendant was rude and sat almost the whole trip. She came around with snacks and drinks early on and then i never saw her again. The "satellite TVs" that they so prominently mention on their website as one of the huge selling points to paying these higher bus ticket prices, do not turn on. They never get turned on, not even for the "safety video" that was never shown nor was there a safety presentation by the attendant. I was 100% dissatisfied that I had spent the extra money for a "first class" bus trip when in fact all I received was a regular bus trip with a higher ticket price. I called vonlane customer service to voice my concerns and was told I could receive a $50 CREDIT. I won't ever be taking this bus again and asked for a cash refund. I was told no. Bus was terrible, marketing is deceptive and false, customer service is non-existent, please DO NOT waste your money on this bus service. Rent a car (would have been cheaper) or purchase a regular bus ticket, or even fly. I will be disputing this with my credit card company as they sold a service that I did not receive, and also opening a BBB claim. read more

This was my very first experience with Vonlane from Austin To Houston. This Coach service is one of a kind. The on board attendant Kat was top notch. Better then any flight attendant I have come across. The coach driver was Pam and she was very professional and savvy!!! There was an accident on the freeway and she was able to maneuver around and onto another route. Both Kat and Pam kept their cool and acted like this was an everyday occurrence. I will be recommending Vonlane to all my vendors and co-workers who travel within Texas. I love this company!!! Vonlane is a fantastic alternative to flying! I personally hate dealing with the airport, so I frequently opt to taking a Vonlane instead. I have taken it about 15 times and have always had fantastic experiences with the drivers and attendants. Honestly, their attendants are absolutely fantastic! They're so nice. The low stars are for their timing issues. I have been on the bus while they left early. I can imagine how annoyed I would be if I had not arrived early. So with the other reviewers that say their bus left early... I believe you! They are also regularly late in their departure times. From what I have read, they offer nothing to people who are late for their buses. They also give nothing to people that wait around for them. This last weekend I took a bus from Dallas to Houston that was over 30 mins late. I called and they told me that they had sent out a text-- but I never received anything. I asked the other waiting customers around me and some of them had received the text, but they sent it out at the scheduled departure time! They moved the departure to over 30 mins later but it ended up being 40 mins. Vonlane offers nothing to their customers in these instances. That also includes the one time that I had to wait almost 2 hours for a bus in Austin. I understand that things happen and delays occur, but please double check your texting service and offer coupons or codes to people that have to wait over 30 mins for your service. This is only a great alternative to flying because it doesn't add much more time to your commute-- when you factor in transportation to the airport, security, etc. However, if the bus is late it feels like you should have just opted to fly. read more

I took Vonlane from Houston to Austin and back and loved it. It's like being in first class! Or at least what I imagine first class is like. Not only was the ride super comfortable (huge, cozy seats), it was also fast! I guess because we used the HOV lanes, the bus got me there in under 2 hours and 45 minutes. On the way, I got a ton of work done, which was great. And I was way more relaxed when I arrived in Austin than I would have been if I'd been driving some shitty rental car for 3 hours. The price, approximately $160 round trip, was more than what a rental car would have cost, but it was about the same as mileage reimbursement if I'd driven my own car, and was less than a plane ticket would have been. Factoring in productivity, comfort, and price, Vonlane is a great choice. read more

I rode Vonlane from San Antonio to Houston on April 9th on the 2:30 ride. The driver and attendant were super nice. The ride was great. So much better than driving horrible I-10. I tried to tip the driver but he wouldn't take anything so giving them 5 Stars. Such a good way to travel. If I can help it, I won't be driving to Houston ever again if I can ride Vonlane. I use vonlane at least once a month for work trips. When I mention to my coworkers that I take a bus from Houston to Austin they look at me with a sad face. I tell them not to feel sorry for me and proceed to tell them all about this bus service. I talk about it so much I feel that I should be getting paid commission for it. I can't say enough nice things about it and whenever a coworker or friend uses it they understand my need to geek out over this. I travel between Austin and Houston, which is 2.5 hours. It is amazing how much work can be done during that time with comfort of a lap desk, noise canceling headphones, and wireless that won't quit. I have been a casualty of missing the bus by 60 seconds. They even pulled it up on GPS and showed me the exact time the bus started to move. I have seen them leave someone behind in Austin Because the doors were shut and that person was still on the other side of the parking lot running towards us. I thought that was a little bit cold considering all they had to do was hit the brakes and open the door. They usually on time with the posted schedules but when they run behind and have delayed departure times they do send you a text, so that is a nice benefit. Took this trip Houston-Dallas for a business trip and it was amazing. Not sure I'd go any other way from now on. Better experience than flying, and probably takes just about as much time if you consider all the check-in and security requirements of flying. Door to door was 3.5 hours! Service was like a first class cabin with a lovely bus attendant passing out free amenities, blankets, pillows, snacks, drinks, etc. They really pamper you. There's even a personal digital entertainment system like they have on planes with your own smartphone or computer, though I didn't try this out. Seats were very comfy with good recline and leg rest - better than airline business class seats! AMAZING!!! I rode the bus from San Antonio to Houston. The ride was very smooth, the attendant was very friendly walking down the isle with snack & drinks. Which is unlike flight attendants. Great snack, meal, and drink options. Also, they offered me a tray table so i could work on the trip with my laptop & got to watch HGTV! Wifi worked perfectly the whole trip! Not to mention, the bus was not that full so i could pick any seat i wanted & ended up getting a whole row to myself. I will defiantly be taking this bus again soon!! read more

Comfy seats, amazing service. Bus attendant was really kind and accommodating - I saw him go out of his way to help people around me. Vonlane also has a great cancellation policy and let me keep credit for later. The bathroom was really clean! Room for improvement would be to clean the seats and lap desks better (the lap desks were dirty - I don't recommend using them. Or just don't offer customers lap desks if they are dirty). Incredible experience. Perfect for normal commuters, but especially great for business travel (no wait times, strong wifi). The tickets will run you $99/seat for a non-stop trip to Austin/Dallas (I believe they're adding San Antonio soon), which is cheaper than an airplane ticket but definitely more than Megabus and other competitors. I think the price is well worth what you're getting. There are incredibly spacious seats that lean back, ample leg room, many accommodations (blankets, towels, phone chargers, laptop chargers, laptop pads, etc.), strong wifi, and unlimited snacks and non-alcohol drinks (Skinny pop, kind bars, buda juice). The bathrooms are super clean and nice. I honestly can't think of an accommodation that they don't account for. There is a host/hostess who checks in with you every 20/30 minutes. It's also BYOB if that's your cup of tea haha. read more

Used vonlane for the first time yesterday to go from Houston to Austin. My wife uses it all the time for work so i figured I'd give a try. Fantastic! The boarding process was easy and fast. The seats were extremely comfortable and the bus was well appointed. You get free drinks and snacks and blankets if needed. It's cheaper than flying and so much simpler. By the time you park at the airport, go through security, board, de-board, baggage claim, etc, that 1 hour flight is about as long or longer than the bus ride. I am deeply disappointed at the 6am driver leaving from Houston to Dallas on 11/23/18 day after Thanksgiving. Accepting that we arrived 3 minutes to departure (our fault), the driver told my wife that he could not wait for me to park the car (one block away) and he had to leave. What really angers me is that he decided to abandon my wife in the dark of the morning with luggage. This is endangerment of a customer!! If something would of happened to my wife while she was waiting for me is what makes my stomach turn. Downtown Houston is not the place to abandon anyone. Vonlane was very helpful and didn't ask any questions when we called to reassigne our tickets for a later trip. Vonlane has the best customer service and I'm very sorry to write this review but if this driver does this to anyone else I only hope they are as lucky as my wife was of not suffering any altercations (potential assault, robbery of luggage, kidnapping) that are unfortunately way too common in Houston. Vonlane, I hope you are able to address this issue to all of your drivers in order to enlighten them with awareness and to prioritize a client's safety. read more

Currently providing transportation between Dallas and Houston or Dallas and Austin, this bus line puts a new spin on first class travelling. Each bus only has 16 spacious and comfortable reclining seats, allowing for plenty of leg room. There is an on board attendant that checks on the passengers every 15-20 minutes, ensuring that you have everything you need. While on board you are handed a list of things that Vonlane will happily provide to make your trip more comfortable or productive (pillow, blanket, pens, pencils, highlighters, memory stick, lap desk, wireless mouse, noise cancelling headphones, or even a phone charger - just to name a few). There is wireless internet access available as well as power outlets at every seat so that you can work, read or play through the entire trip. All food and drinks on the trip are complimentary and provided as often as you request them. I'm not talking about a small pack of pretzels with 2 oz of liquid in 4 oz of ice either. I drive back and forth between Houston and San Antonio often, and last week couldn't stomach making the drive (for the 7th time in recent months) after having been hit by a reckless driver on the highway earlier that week, so at the recommendation of so many I booked on Vonlane. Booked within 24 hours of my departure, simple, easy fare structure (no annoying advance purchase required). At first I was hesitant because its always nice to have the freedom of your own wheels, and I figured the bus ride would add 25-30 min to what it takes me to drive on my own. But oh what a relief taking Vonlane!! The time flew by without me having to pay attention to the road, and instead catch up on emails, phone calls, use WiFi and watch some saved shows on my iPad. I enjoy a couple cold drinks, and the bus even has a nice bathroom so no need to add my somewhat typical 15 min stop halfway for a break. The onboard attendant passed through several times with snacks, more drinks, etc. I honestly can say as we were almost to San Antonio I couldn't believe we were already arriving and I felt so much more relaxed. The bus is clean, so roomy, and like a business-class airline seat on a domestic flight..but with more leg room and more freedom to move around. I will still drive periodically of course, but I am certain at least 50% of the times I go to SA I will be taking Vonlane. I was shocked at how much less stressed I felt when I arrived. And while driving down i10 for 3 hours isn't exactly like performing brain surgery, I've always found I arrive feeling that fatigue you feel after doing paperwork or staring at tedious work on a computer for 2-3 hours, but not w/ Vonlane. Staff is helpful and friendly. Food options are a good and interesting mix. I can relax or work on the ride. I get more work done on 3 hour ride than I do in a week! I joke that I should just book a ride for the morning, knock out a bunch of work or get caught up on nagging tasks on way down, eat lunch with my son at UT, and then come back and relax on the way home.
