If you're looking for quality meat, do NOT get it at any Vons. I thought their terrible cuts were specific to their Anaheim Hills store on Santa Ana Cyn. Nope. This one is terrible as well. Even though I paid top dollar for a rib-eye and 2 filet mignon, all 3 were so tough, we couldn't finish our Christmas Eve dinner (had to resort to left overs). The work staff is ALWAYS extremely courteous and helpful so, if you're simply looking for smiles and hellos, then yes Vons is the place to shop. Place seems worse since Albertsons bought them. Was checking out (only 2 lines opened) 5 customers in each line. Ginger haired manager was moving around trying to look busy. Finally checking out, I bagged my own groceries, met the manager eyes and he immediately looked away, never offered to help or open another register himself. I made a comment to the cashier regarding the lack of help from the manager. He stated that that is how it is since Albertsons took them over. Been going to this store since 2004. I signed up for online delivery to get groceries sent to our Disneyland hotel the night we arrived in order to save some money inside the park. Vons was a no show (even after confirming the delivery earlier in the day). No one at the store could tell me what was going on, and the manager didn't want to come to the phone to explain anything either. I was told to call back in the morning. When I did they gave me a very unapologetic answer and were noncommittal about promising to get the groceries to the hotel that day (the day after the scheduled delivery). The groceries finally arrived, very late, and some of the produce was unmistaking rotting in the bag and leaking all over everything else. Bottom line, no accountability to the customer, and no quality control. read more

Never shopping here again!!!! Purchased a box of pasta for spaghetti. Item was not only expired (by one year) but it had LIVE cockroaches inside!!!! When I went back to get my money back staff was not in the least helpful. As a customer I get having to check for expiration dates, but I certainly don't want bugs to spread in my pantry and at the very least I want a manager to seem sympathetic when I explain my situation. read more

The tall slender blonde (name starts with a K) and the hispanic with the prominent chin and big cheeks (Rosa). There's also a miserable older Caucasian man with glasses who hates interacting with people. If your so annoyed with your job, then find another one that suits your bad attitude. I have had it with the ever increasingly long lines and now even worse, all of the many moronic ways that we have to go through to get decent prices on a few items each week. I have been going to the same store for 28 years - NEVER, NEVER AGAIN. So many times I have threatened to stop coming to this store, but now is the time. I clipped a coupon from the weekly circular for soda, got my 5- 12 packs, got some shrimp on sale with the club card, and a few other items that had come through my computer email app and went through the line. I was astonished at the price so I asked if the club card phone number went through - he said it did but the phone number wasn't effective, have had the same damn phone for 35 years. Then I asked if the coupon I had clipped from their circular worked, but of course that didn't either because you MUST now have some phone app. So now we have phone apps, digital coupons, email specials, circular mailer coupons, club cards and always long lines. Enough, I am financially well healed and I would like to say I'm smarter that this but since I continued to shop here for 28 years, I can't even say I'm smart. NO MORE - I'm going to a store that has 1 thing going for it - circular prices that are honored and NONE of this other crap. Goodbye Von's Forever - wish I could rate zero stars. read more

This store make me sooooooo mad!! and whats even worse is I am to blame now because I know before going there it is going to happen! These jerks always leave an item you purchased out of the bag and you don't know its missing until you've returned home only to find it charged on the receipt and not anywhere in your bags. This has to be the 10th time in the last 5 years this has happened at this store. URGGGG! How is it that at every other store in existence this has never happened to me, but this store it has happened over and over again in the past 5 years I have been going there. From a candy bar, to butter, to a bag of nuts, an energy drink, a can of broth, bacon package, magazine ect... all the things I can remember this store not placing my purchased items into the bag. Either change the baggage area around or get an F N clue you idiots! Each time I return the jerks have already placed the item back into the store shelf even if its not a cold item. They assume you aren't coming back?? I stopped going here for this this reason only and for some reason I went again today and if you wouldn't believe it happened again and I am to blame for going here and not checking. I live within walking distance of this store. Ive had good and bad experiences here. It's just a shame when you frequent a business and dread to deal with certain employees. The cashier I'm speaking of is an older causasian male that usually works during the day, and on the express line. I really try to get into line for ANY other cashier, but somehow always ending up here due to long wait times. Maybe because everyone else dreads dealing with him also, but he is extremely unfriendly and unpleasant. You'll be lucky to get a hello out of him. However the customers he does strike up a conversation with he will stop his entire line up to engage in meaningless banter about ice cream shops or some other nonsense. I'm sure he's worked there for an eternity and feels somewhat like he doesn't need to go the extra mile to give good customer service however it might make his OWN life a little more pleasant if he acted like he's happy someone like him is still employed by such a large company since I don't know many others that would tolerate such disregard for customer experience. I hope that he will take some advice and put a smile on and even if it kills him inside make an attempt to leave the last impression on a customer as they are leaving a positive one, not one of feeling awkward or slighted. read more

Glad I didn't depend on the yelp reviews when deciding where to get groceries for our recent trip to Disneyland. We're from out of town and needed a nearby store to get a few items for our stay at the Grand Californian (milk, cereal, bananas, kid snacks, wine for mom and dad, etc). This was the nearest 'real' grocery store I could find. Despite the bad reviews, I went ahead and shopped there. Yes, the store is outdated, but I couldn't care less about the atmosphere. They had everything I needed, the produce was good, the deli meats were good, and the prices were reasonable. Saved us a fortune on overpriced food in the park and hotel. Thanks Vons! read more

I love that the location of the store is so close to work and that they open early but that is about it. I use to think this store was one of the most racist stores I have ever encountered. After reading many of the other post I'll admit I might be wrong. On the other hand some of the checkers attitudes absolutely suck. They act as if you are violating them by being in their presence. They see me coming into the store and you would think I just used the bathroom on the floor. You hate to paint all the employees with the same brush because it's not fair. The only reason why I gave this store a 1 star rating is because I couldn't give them a 0!!! , would have it allowed me to they would have gotten zero. My family and I come down here at least 3-4 times a year to go to Disneyland and this time we thought we would preorder some groceries for the week from Von's nearby because we heard great things from other families that have used their delivery service before. They emailed us and said they would be at the hotel approximately around the time we would be checked in and settled. The confirmation email a couple days prior informed us that they received our order, charged my account and that we would have to be in our room to meet the delivery driver between the hours of 5-6pm. We arrived at 4-4:15 got unpacked and waited. Then we realized we never got a call from the store, which they said they do to confirm our hotel room number etc, and it was 6:15pm. So we decided to call and see what was up. I swear, talking to the first representative was like talking to Cheech And Chong. Guy didn't know what the hell was going on and basically said ,"sorry, I don't know, but he'll call." He then went on to say that the times on the website or the confirmation email are approximate and that we needed to take into consideration traffic etc. Wait, What?! So what do we do sit around and wait for them to show up whenever it's concerning for them? No, it's said for us to be in our room between 5 and 6pm. Nothing about give or take a couple hours. So we decided to hang up on him and try another representative. By this time it's 6:45 and the kids are cranky and hungry. So we try to call back to see if someone else could shed some light on this annoying situation. What do we get? The same f'n answer. I don't know! Haha. So we ask him several other questions and basically says the same thing but this time he says he'll call the driver. Ding ding ding!!!! So he does, then comes back on the line with us and says he doesn't have an ETA!!!! Wtf!? By this time my wife wants to rip her hair out and gouge out her eyes. So I decide to stay in the hotel to wait for the delivery while my wife has to take our babies and our 9 year old and her 12 year old sister to find something to eat. It's currently 7 pm and still no call and still no groceries. But he said he would give us a $15 credit on our order. Hooray. Last time I ever do this and will stick to what I've always done in the past, pack groceries prior and bring them with us. read more

Bought a plate of sushi from here during my lunch break (crunch crunch roll), it tasted delicious and the cashier told me that the sushi here was extremely fresh. What a lie. Next day I wake up with food poisoning, wtf. I laid in bed all day feeling like shit. I usually have a strong stomach for sushi too.
