The manager here is a complete a-hole. I asked if I could get quarters for the change that I had, so he directed me to the Coinstar. I then take my voucher to his register and I ask can I please get all of this in quarters? He replies, no that's only register two and four. I reply, do I have to get into another line for quarters? He looks at me and shrugs it off, gives me a really shity look and goes mute. I take things into my own hands and look to my right (cashier#2) and ask can I please get this voucher? Quarters would be amazing. She looks at me, "of course honey!" Was it really that difficult "Manager?!" He should be demoted, so damn lazy. This Vons is a win as far as grocery stores go. Vons is cool,excuse they are cheaper than ralphs, but have the same quality of groceries. Set up as your typical store they have everything. It is located right on the corner with entrances both on Devonshire and Sepulveda with a huge parking lot to match. There are also a number of cute kiddie carts to choose from. The staff is nice and the lines always move quickly. I would definitely come back here for all my grocery needs. read more

I can't help but give this Von's one star, I wish there was a zero. They can thank ROSA, one of their managers. Me and my boyfriend went on Friday and unfortunately ended up in her line. She was rude the entire check out for no apparent reason, we asked for cash back, she handed us a 100$ bill, we were going to Pizza Hut next (knowing nobody accepts 100$ bills anymore) so my boyfriend simply asked "Oh Is it possible to get 20's by any chance?" Before he could even finish his question she snapped back in literally the nastiest tone, "If I had 20's I would have given you 20's". Ok.................... She then shoves the receipt in my boyfriends hand, and LEAVES OUR ITEMS on the scanner. Didn't even put them back on the conveyor belt, literally left them where she scanned them and THREW her closed sign on her register and walked away. I had to reach my hand over where the register was just to grab my items, because apparently she couldn't be bothered moving her hand at all and placing them on the conveyor belt like any normal person, nope let's just leave em where I scanned them. No have a nice day, thanks, nothing. Just snapped at my boyfriend, shoved the receipt in his hand and walked away with an attitude, with our items just sitting on the scanner. I had never had a bad experience with Von's before until now. My complaint is with the lady who is in charge of taking the cake orders. When I asked her if I can order a cake she got upset and said that she will get someone to help me because she was off work now. Ok, I understand if she was off the clock but why lie and tell me that someone else would help me when they wouldn't. And she had me wait for that someone who never showed. I then went looking for the manager to see if that someone can take my cake order , but apparently , she's the only one in the entire store who can take cake orders! Update on bakery: This time around service in the bakery was a 180 degree turn... A lot better!!! In order to place a cake order you have to proceed to the back area, located on the produce side. I knocked and no answer so I looked for an employee to assist me. She gladly offered to help and on the intercom asked for bakery assistance. After that the baker came out from the back area and took my cake order. She was polite and patient as I have placed my order. Hopefully, their customer service continues this way since customer service is key. read more

I Don't come here often but when I do its great. Never had a problem here. Customer service has always been good. Store has always been clean. Bathrooms clean too. I really like the hot soup they have. Thats the main reason I drive to this store. It's soooo yummy! My favorite is chicken noodle. They have a Wells Fargo ATM inside. Vons is across from Ralphs. All stars go to Barbie the cashier she's probably the nicest person their . Eveyone else always has their bitch face on when I ask for help they just point and don't even speak a word to me. Not very helpful. This place is also almost always getting robbed when I go. Someone is bumping into me as I'm entering as they speed off with a box of beer or a basket of food. I went here a couple of times to get food from the hot food/pasta bar. Since I am vegetarian I always get the combo with two pastas or salads instead of chicken. I went into the store today and the man with dark hair and a bushy mustache was completely rude and kept cutting me off. When I tried to explain that I had gotten two pastas before he cut me off and said "no. We don't do that. Look at the menu." This vons just lost my business. What a rude staff member. It would be one thing if he told me nicely but he acted like I was dumb and like that would never happen when I was just there a couple days before. Not a vegetarian/vegan friendly place as the staff is rude and will not simply replace a meat item with a non meat item. read more

I have come to this store for as long as I can remember and always had great experience with employees until today and I encounter JUDY . Customer in front of me didn't have the decency to remove the cart she used when shopping she left it after paying for her stuff. I advised JUDY that the cart doesn't belong to me that it's from the lady getting ready to leave but.. I placed the cart on the side so I can get thru. JUDY bagged my stuff and left a couple out of the bag dropping them on the cart . I advised her again that it does not belong to me and her respond is: " you have items that are lose out of the bags ( FYI.. these are 5 little chocolate bars and a bag of Hawaiian bread which I was able to fit in the bag) so put them in the cart but if it bothers you I will take the cart" . OMFG! are you kidding me! I was kind enough to set the cart aside so me and the rest of the customers can go thru! It is NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY to put away carts!! JUDY you could've told the customer who left the cart before she took off but for some reason you don't have the balls to call her out and yet you think it's ok to give me the attitude because I'm smaller compare to her?!? self check lady, I was kind enough to do the job for you don't push it!!! Good bakery. Consistently refuse to stock paper bags with HANDLES, so it must be a management decision. Result: recommend shop here only for specialties like the bakery. Do your major shopping elsewhere - where it is less expensive anyway. Food 4 Less consistently stocks 10 cent heavy plastic bags WITH HANDLES. Groceries that make penny-pinching decisions, especially at supposedly up-scale markets, need to be penalized for their decisions. read more

Bought a couple of small crab legs which smelled a little funny. When I returned them the next day around 1pm, the cashiers made me feel as I was troubling them! Waited for 5minutrs and then when I received my money back, didn't even get an apology or offer to replace the items. Seems like they care while you're buying but be careful of returns. read more

Produce is fresh but pricey...staff is not too helpful but they do the Job. Store has a great location with no competition except for Ralphs that is across the other corner of the street. I like this Vons because it's normally quiet And fast paced when entering check out. Sometimes a little too quiet. I wish they had brighter lights..everytime I go..it seems like the whole Store is a little more On the dimm side. Very unprofessional. I had won on a lottery ticket after waiting in line they took my ticket and gave it to a representative named Carlos. This guy really told me I need to go and wait in the line again to cash my winning ticket. Like what????? At the end of the day I only won 5 dollars so I wasn't going to a big scene about it and Carlos noticed I was in a rush and I couldn't wait again he said I'm sorry nothing I can do. I said cancel give my ticket he said no. So I left and didn't collect my winning and the worst part was no effort was made to stop me from exiting without my winnings. This store is consistently out of advertised specials by mid-morning day of ad. Apparently they don't Place limits on sales so individuals come in and buy the entire case of sale items which means the rest of us get nothing. There is no service desk to ask for rain checks so to add insult to injury you have to wait in a huge line to request rain checks. Other grocers do a much better job of managing this process. Although there are a couple of Von's Markets nearby, we choose this one because of the helpful personnel. The checkers and the young people that bag our groceries are just super individuals. We've tried the other stores and have not had as much success. read more

I went here to get a sandwich. I had little waiting to get my sandwich but when I got home to eat it I discovered the lady used horse radish instead of mayonnaise (luckily I don't mind horse radish). Checking out, I meant to hit yes for cash back but hit no and the cashier was very helpful and helped me get the cash back that I needed without any fuss or attitude. This store has very rude staff. Should I say discriminatory? They advertised 99cent eggs. "Limit 1" ok.. so I was with my daughter who is a minor. It didn't say 18 and over. It didn't say per household. It said limit 1. Last time I checked, my daughter was a human being. Ok let's get "one" per person. I get to the register and the cashier says let me ask. The cashier next to her looks at me and says, " that's pushing it!" So I explain that my daughter is a person and she's paying in a different transaction. Then she says well it's per household. I then tell her it says limit 1 not limit household. She made that up on her own. When I question her she completely ignores me like I'm crazy. Am I ? My cousin who is a lawyer says no.. it's discrimination against my daughter and those signs need to say that. Maybe they ignored me cause they were WRONG! and they had no comeback as to why they couldn't honor it. I just had service above and beyond the call from the staff there at Vons today. This morning when i shopped, apparently one of my shopping bags was left at checkout; it wasn't given to me. I went back over this after noon and she cheerfully agreed to let me get the items that had not been bagged and given to me this morning. I shop here a lot and intend to KEEP doing so. read more

I went to the bakery section to purchase a cake. The attendant was busy stacking cookies, bare handed, in the back part of the bakery. He was annoyed by the fact that I needed something out of the glass case, for which his assistance would be required. He was so ticked when I asked him to personalize the cake that I actually offered to do it myself at home. HIs response was, "Ok." I payed at the bakery register since I had completed my shopping. He handled my transaction which involved him printing a price sticker for my cake, pawing the register and the customer pin pad. As I walked away and as I feared, he went right back to taking dozens of cookies off the baking sheet with his bare hands, without washing or gloving his hands. Yuck. Of course I had noticed an intermittent brow itch, which made this even grosser. I don't want the microscopic materials harvested from anyone's brow on any cookie I eat, especially not a stranger at a super market. Hoping this clerk's un-hygenic practices and rude service could be mediated and corrected by management, I approached a cashier who was professionally dressed, as opposed to the other few open registers with uniformed cashiers. I assumed the business attire meant he was management. When I asked if he were, he rudely and condescendingly looked down at his badge, causing me to look down and see that it did in fact read "Lewis Supervisor." He had a miffed look on his face that translated to "NO DUUUUH You moron, can't you read?" As if he had been sitting on a guilded throne with a giant golden bejeweled crown on his head and I, mere rabel, had the audacity to ask if he were king! Sue me. He was uninterested and dismissive of the experience I related to him. His reply: "I'll talk with him" as he rolled his eyes... No apology, no acknowledgement of my cause for concern, nothing.... I understand this is a super market, I should have no high expectations of the level of service I should receive, but in this economy, and with so many other places where I could take my business, I would expect basic courtesy and hygene, at a bare minimum. read more
