Updating my review from 11 years ago. Previous comments stand. The parking lot is big but super busy with the nearby businesses. Parking is atrocious. I park far away. Cause people are nuts. Both pedestrians and drivers. Try to stay away from them. I enjoy coming for fresh produce. And fresh pita bread. The customers are overall rude. Just being honest. Some people might not want to visit here because of that. Understandable. Employees/staff are usually fine. No complaints from me. read more

The cashiers here are LAZY. We pay for you to ring items and cashiers are paid to bag the items and NOT custometrs!

What I appreciate about this market: 1. For some items, prices are way below average. 2. Also, they carry a good variety of fresh vegetables and fruits used in middle eastern homes. The quality can vary from low to good. 3. I have never had a bad experience with staff members. In fact, today, a couple of them were super kind and helpful. 4. In spite of the crowds, inside is reasonably organized and clean. What I don't appreciate: 1. Every one inside seems to be in great rush. People race around with their carts sometimes bumping into others. Shopping here is stressful! 2. There is plenty of parking, but the parking lot could be better spaced. The isles are narrow making parking and getting out of parking uncomfortable. Today, two cars parked in tandem right next to me bumped into each other while trying to pull out. read more

I'm assuming this a chain supermarket. When h walked in, the alcohol area in its own sectioned looks familiar. Hence I've been to another location in Van Nuys. It's a pretty big store and was quite busy with shoppers. They carry all your classic groceries needs and so on. Produce section was massive. Also their butcher sections had so many different kind of meats and seafood to choose from. They also have an international area with selection on meats, cheese and breads. Everything was nearly arranged which is impressive for a supermarket. Meats were all section out in their own individual slots. They do have a massive selection of international breads. The isle was pretty big, some things were cheaper and some were more compared to your classic Ralph's and Albertson. Very impressive with their big selection on produce and meats. read more

Ever since Charlie the previous store manager left to the Van Nuys store the store culture is no longer the same. The staff is not as nice or cordial as before. No other grocery comes close when you need produce. Prices are absolutely unbeatable. Quality is impressive. Not always organic but you really get to see all the ethnicities. Everyone is polite. Tons of deli, dairy and meats. Mediterranean choices, oils, rice, legumes. If you haven't been, you don't know what you are missing out on. 1/15/2015 - It offers a verity of fresh vegetables and fruits at reasonable prices. The store is clean. Today, after shopping at a local Costco and can't find papaya, I went to the Super King Market and bought some easily. It also shares a large parking lot with other stores. read more

Incredible selection of imported groceries and nice produce. Love this store. Very recommended.

I normally like going to super king because the deli counter workers are so helpful and the produce is always fresh. While in line at the express lane, the manager saw I was sharing a cart with my mother in law and said that we shouldn't be in the express line because other customers will get mad. Mind you, there were no other customers behind us. We were so confused because my mother in law and I were paying separate and had items under 15. He was trying to argue with us and kept asking if my mother in law was going to pay. Like NO it's 2 separate transactions, what don't you get???? I'd rather go somewhere else that won't give us grief in the express line. read more

Always, always check your receipt. If you look on the way out, there is always a line at customer service area. All these people are being overcharged. It happens to me so often, that I always plan for extra time to stand in the refund lane. Ridiculous! Today I got overcharged $22. Need to get your act together. Great affordable produce! They have all the normal produce you would want and lots of specialty items. Seeeing unique in season items it part of the fun. Definitely worth trying. Their Persian cucumbers are a must! They do have basic market items there. They have a huge meat counter that looks fresh and has lots of turnover. Definitely times that are super busy but I went on a Tuesday evening around 7 and it wasn't too bad. read more

Expectations (for those of you that don't know): crowded (especially if there's a good advertised deal), children may run around unattended, staff assistance depends on their mood of the day, or in other words - don't take anything personal. There's a small bulk section for dried fruit, nuts, and coffee. Lines are always at least 3 deep but go quickly enough. They're constantly restocking inventory. I go here for their nuts and when I'm in the mood for lamb or goat meat. read more

They are RACIST! Absolutely unacceptable experience at Super King. My mom was already in line when another woman came from the exit side and cut in front of her. Instead of correcting the situation, the cashier started ringing her up and claimed, "The manager sent her." This woman's cart was completely full, and she clearly had not been waiting in line. When my mom spoke up, they said "sorry," but made no effort to fix it. They clearly didn't care. Both the woman and the employees were Middle Eastern--it felt like blatant favoritism. This wasn't just unprofessional, it felt discriminatory. Super King clearly prioritizes "their own" and has no regard for treating all customers equally. Racism and disrespect have no place in any business. I will never shop here again and I urge others to be aware of how this store truly operates behind the scenes. Do better. read more

What a joke of a place. The employees are overwhelmingly rude, and many don't speak English, which makes basic communication frustrating. Management is no better -- they show zero concern when their staff is disrespectful, and they turn a blind eye when two employees lie and take sides simply because you don't speak a "certain" language. If you're looking for a shopping experience that's crowded, dirty, and filled with hostility, then by all means, visit Super King in Northridge. Otherwise, steer clear. I went today because I was looking for roasted sunflower seeds with shell on. Luckily, they were on sale at 0.99 cents/lb. I usually try to avoid coming here because it's always full, but they also have a great selection of items. I love that I'm able to purchase dried fruit, seeds, and nuts per pound. I received service from the guy who was bringing in the shopping carts. Before giving the cart, he made sure it was clean from left over ads. This is a grocery store with very good prices and lots of variety but don't expect a pretty supermarket like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. They have a lot of international foods with an extensive meat, deli and bakery/bread section. They also have a pretty big liquor section too with some high end bottles. It does get super busy so I normally park my cart and shop then bring stuff to my cart. The parking lot also is just as packed as the store. read more

It is not often that I go to Super King Market because there are other grocery and produce markets closer to me. However, when I do go to this Super King, I am in awe of the largeness of the store and its spaces. Fresh produce is there in abundance, most of them at prices that are competing or better than their counterparts. There will always be some products that are cheaper at your local or discount grocery store. However, Super King deserves praise for its novelty and freshness. This time I found packages of wild wonders (cherry tomatoes of various colors, see my picture). The other aspect here which is noteworthy, is that its employees are constantly keeping the place prim and proper. They will be wiping, cleaning or readjusting displays whey they lose their symmetry and appearance due to customer handling. This does not mean that a trip here is a bed of roses. Finding parking in this strip mall lot is a nightmare. So, unless you are lucky, be prepared to walk a bit. And if you choose the wrong time to go here, you will experience customer and cart gridlock inside the store. During these times checkout lines are long. Therefore, if you are a patient person, who suffers no anxiety when there is people traffic, Super King Market is a nice place to be. read more

Super King has the best prices for produce. The vegetables and fruits are reasonably priced and are cheaper than most groceries in town. They also have great deals on chicken, fish, pork, beef and shrimps. They have international food selections too and their bakery too. Plenty of checkers but only 1 or 2 baggers at the most so prepare to bag it yourself. Come early to avoid the crowd on their deli and meat section. There are sweepers everywhere to keep the floors clean of debris especially in the produce aisle because I tripped on a broccoli before. read more

The price is here are fantastic if you're brave enough to face the extra long lines. The checkout is a mess, the deli and meat counter are always a long wait. That being said, the quality of their product is fantastic and everything is always fresh. You won't find produce, fruit, veggies, meat, and deli items cheaper anywhere else. Best place to shop for fruits and vegetables hands down when it comes to being an all-rounder. Their sales are absolutely steals. Today, I got 12 oz blueberry packs, 2 for 3$ which you won't find ANYWHERE else. They're always packed because of how popular they are and how well priced the produce is. Other goods like chicken nuggets, puff pasty, beans and rice are not so affordable. Staple goods like beans are a lot cheaper at a grocery store like Smart&Final or Vons. That's the only downside. There is a free restroom for customers in the back right corner. It is alright in terms of cleanliness. It feels really moist and smells bad in there. One time, they were out of soap when I went. It's ok if you need to get some food. Produce prices are really good, packaged goods, dry goods prices are high. Sometimes higher then markets like Ralphs and Vons with poor selections. The 1st and 14th of every month (payday) this places is packed lines at every register straight up the entire isle on those days for hours. if you shop here during those times you will be here a long long time. Staff is racist to ALL non Hispanic customers for absolutely no reason what so ever. Some non Hispanic people know Spanish also so maybe you should not say racist comments in Spanish to non-Hispanic customers thinking they don't know Spanish. I get treated like a person at Vallarta markets not discriminated against for my race. Security is armed not sure why and the shopping center is unclean in general, trash everywhere outside the market and nobody cleans it up. I"ve been the SK customer since they open. Last time I came, I was charged something I didnt buy. This was not the first time. So I came back to the CS. The lady at customer service is very rude. She told me to get the item which I didnt need it at that time. Today I went there to ask if I could add 1 item in order to get promo price. I havent talked it yet and she responded right away I couldn't. She recognized my face from last time so she already has the attitude. I asked her name, she said she doesnt need to give me her name. I asked why you responded like that. And the guy came wearing black shirt maybe the manager. Instead of cooling down the situation, he said I was here, I heard her, she wasnt mean to you. How you can hear clearly and you're inside? If you're a manager, instead of making the situation more worst, why you didnt say something cooling us down and don't take sides? I'll will never comeback to this store anymore. In this economy like this, there are so many stores that treat the customers nicely. read more

I shop there for many years and I've recommended this place to so many people because this place saves you so much money!!! I used to shop in many supermarkets before I discovered this place and I waisted so much money! After Covid all supermarkets brought their prices higher and lowered their products quality! This place is exactly the opposite of prices are soooo cheap they have such a big and fresh variety of fruits and vegetables, the meats are always fresh and everything there sells so fast so that's how they make money and you get a great value and fresh things! So it's a win win !!! For example I buy there tomatoes usually they sell for 0.79-0.99 cents per pound and they are so fresh and last long time other places sell for almost $3 a pound This was only one thing u have no idea ! Parking is not a problem. Their price range is reasonable as long you are a smart shoppers. Place is kind of crowded due to consumers has a concepts thinking SK price is cheaper which I agreed almost 85%. Products depend how you pick them. Place is clean, crowded due to some shopper just leave their cart in the middle of the aisle not aware of fire hazard. Multiple cashier lane is opened but still crowded. If you want good deals SK is the place to shops. read more

After visiting friends in Northridge, we decided to stop here for groceries before heading home. Located next to the mall, the large plaza is nicely constructed and well-maintained. But WOW, this market is insane! While waiting for a parking spot, we watched a lady finish loading her groceries and walk her cart away only to leave it in the middle of the crowded parking lot in front of oncoming cars. Then she got in her car and left. We didn't see any return stalls, so it seems customers can either take carts back to the store or just leave them wherever. Most choose the latter, but this was beyond inconsiderate. Inside the store is crowded, especially the produce area. They have a large selection of fruits and vegetables at very low prices, which explains the madness. Cart traffic was bumper to bumper, but most people were nice in trying to maneuver around each other. We went to the meat counter to pick up some steaks, fish and chicken. We took a number but waited only a couple minutes. The guy that helped us was friendly. Checkout was chaos! Long, long lines with every register open. The cashier was nice. They don't charge for bags. While portioning the meats at home, I found that the meat guy threw in random pieces of chicken within the 10 pounds of chicken thighs we bought. There was about 3 pounds of back bone pieces and other broken parts of the chicken with fatty skin attached. This was disappointing. Thinking back, I remembered watching the guy take chicken from the front (where the best pieces are displayed), but then also reaching in the back a few times where I couldn't see. This hid the unwanted chicken pieces in the middle. Overall, the price we paid for our groceries was much lower than our regular supermarket. Definitely a great place for fresh produce. The meat counter however needs close supervision -- make sure they're taking your selections from the section closest to the front of the display case and check your order before leaving. Luckily, we don't live in the Northridge area so we won't be shopping here often. read more
