Manager accused me of shoplifting. I was leaving at closing time on 5/24. I made my purchase at 10:39pm according to my receipt (#00316100304142205242239). I went to use the bathroom. I was leaving the store at around 11:06pm and walking past the registers. The manager with very short clean cut hair that was bleached blonde on the top stopped helping her customer and said "sir! Excuse me sir!" and then asked if I paid for everything. I said yes, and she pointed at my bag and asked if she could check it. I was obviously annoyed at being accused of shoplifting at this point, so I set it on her counter. She looked through it and said where's your receipt? I told her it's in the bag (of two whole items) that she was currently looking through. She found it and then seemed like she knew she messed up and said "oh...ohhh...I'm sorry, it's just that I saw you coming from the side over there". And I just shook my head and shrugged and left. Definitely not cool to accuse random people like that. Also against regulations (I have worked at retail stores for years) since you didn't see me concealing an item, try to leave without paying, etc. It's a huge liability to accuse random people of shoplifting for no reason. Was it the way I look or the way I dress or what? I don't want anyone to lose their job, but you definitely need to retrain her on how to treat people. read more

Don't bother coming here, group photos are more important than customers. Conversations about water and faucets and a repair man looking at the faucet but didn't fix it that's located behind the butcher block are more important than us, the phone call that the guy behind the counter took from his coworker on her day off was more important. The manager even told her from Afar enjoy your day off don't call here and then pass me by and no one helped me. she proceeded to go to the flower section. I got no help I even left the counter went shopping and came back and the guy on the phone still didn't help me. the older guy in the little room in the back was tying his apron and I yelled is anyone here working, he looked at me and went back to tying his apron. I am livid at this point, I yelled is anybody gonna help me this is my 3rd attempt to buy crab legs! a young lady looked at me but did not help, a guy with a push broom looked at me and kept pushing the broom and left. I called corporate immediately and now I'm yelping this. the district manager is to call me back. so miss dawn whoever the manager is here, don't bother calling me or leaving a response to this post because I don't need you to respond with an auto reply to email you and you do nothing just like when I Yelp the bathroom having that disgusting nasty feces and diarrhea all over the floor on the wall the sink and the toilet and no one did a thing about it. This review is specifically related to the food in the deli dept. I picked up some chicken tenders and potato wedges for lunch, and let me tell you how annoyed and upset I am for having spent my money on that. The chicken tenders were hard, hard, hard. They were flavorless and were probably even not fully cooked. VONS needs to have someone supervise the food daily and immediately for quality before even putting any of that for customers to buy. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The service is always OK. But my complaint today and dissatisfaction pertains to the food I bought today. Don't know how often their chicken tenders are made, if it's a daily thing, or they simply reheat them up the next day, but it is disappointing and discouraging. Because of several recent experiences, I loathe shopping at this Vons. I find the younger staff members'c customer service nonexistent at best.. I shopped there because it is convenient and the soda I wanted was on sale. Because I was on crutches, I used the self-checkout hoping they had a remote handheld to us to scan prices at the machine. I could not see one so I queried the young woman if she had one and she said no and even though I was using crutches, she instructed me to scan each one separately never offering any assistance. An older staffer noticed and insisted on helping me. The next visit I asked 4 different young staff where sauerkraut was located. None of the knew and left. I asked an older staffer and she told me exactly where I could find it. Also their bathrooms are disgusting!!! Now I will go 2 miles further just to avoid this store. read more

Always a win, especially... with a cashier that's been there forever by the name of Barb! She's always so helpful and efficient in everything she does. Barb has such an Exemplary Attitude!! She works long hours at times, but seems to always have a pleasant greeting and a smile and wishes that you have a great day. Thanks Barb! Shopping here is always a pleasant experience. Shelves are always neatly stocked. Floral section is always filled with an assortment of permeating flowers and arrangements, which is so convenient for almost any occasion. I like the variety selection of cheese they seem to always have stocked.. Sometimes they carry Hoop Cheese for the holidays, for making Blintzes. Meats, well... they actually could have a bit of a better selection. Noticing that their selection is not as wide as some others. I'm assuming due to limited amount of space. It's good though for your basic meats. Bread isle also has a good selection. Yogurt selection is awesome. Fruit and vegetable section is plentiful and sometimes they have organic. Canned goods can be a bit tricky, as to how they think they should be placed and arranged... but not in the actual place that they s-h-o-u-l-d be located. Cards, i.e. Birthday's, Anniversary's and such... a very good selection. If there is an issue about trying to find a product... just keep a good attitude and schmooze the employee with a little bit of kindness... and they will go a mile for you! The managers are the same... willing to help... when the employee has reached a dead end. Rosa, one of the managers has a bit of a thick accent, but by complimenting her and helping her, help you... she'll help you as much as she can. Carlos, is the other manager I think, and he's great! He'll go out of his way to help you too! [just be pleasant] The managers work hard, and need to try to keep up with all the changes the world is tossing at them. The U program that Vons does offer.... doesn't work too well. [for me anyway] I haven't received one free thing. Sure would be awesome to get a nice gift card. It'd be wonderful to ever win anything. lol The re-model of this store makes it visually nice and inviting to shop here, even though we have to make a bit of a drive, it's worth it. read more

Rocio the manager for the flowers has a very bad attitude. I bought flowers and came to get it wrapped. (It's Complementary) She kept telling the other worker not to give me the paper I wanted, told the worker to stop ripping the dead flowers/leaves for me, (she was being so kind) and I kindly asked if I can pay for the other paper I wanted. She looked at me and said we're not giving that one away with a really nasty face. (wrapping paper are considered complementary) I offered if I can pay for the brown paper she said no. The worker offered me a color ribbon and she said NO. Fire this manager with that type of attitude for Christmas Eve. If it's complementary for them to do it, then she shouldn't be whining about it. I have been going to the Vons in Mission Hills for quite some time. Never had a problem I was informed weeks ago that you have to go to the self check out because the cashiers would not be coming in to work at the regular registers until 8 AM i I stood in front of the self check out which was all closed. Yes, I saw that and on one line the light was on, but I was told weeks prior to that , this is the way you purchase items from now on until 8AM when the cashiers come in, I was confronted by an employee with many tattoos on both arms and an attitude. The employee made me feel like I was being belligerent in a nightclub, and that they were a bouncer, I have always been polite, respectful and patient when I go to any Vons I will never ever ever go there again I will make sure that I tell all of my friends about what happened Don't go to the Vons in Mission Hills on the corner of Sepulveda and Devonshire. read more

If I could give this place zero Stars I would. Let me start by saying that the staff at this place does not care about the customer not one bit. Not even the manager or customer service.. If you want your grocery store workers to ignore you, give you attitude, disrespect you, call you a liar, refuse to apologize, and treat you like garbage...this is the perfect place! I was ordering turkey from the deli and the guy took forever and as he was finishing up my last order of Turkey. He set the turkey on the scale out in the open and just left. He went to go help other customers on the other side of the Deli, as I just stood there confused as to why my turkey was just sitting on the scale in front of me. There was another woman working with him and she also just ignored me. When I asked her what was going on with the turkey she responded" oh he's busy helping someone else." I asked her if I could have my turkey, and she gave me attitude and said she was helping someone else. I told her to keep her turkey. I was Furious. I walked away I continued my shopping and as I was checking out I found a manager and told him what had happened.An older gentleman who didn't seem like he cared one bit about my experience at the deli. I spotted him on my way out once again and I asked what had happened, and he said he had spoke to the people at the deli. He responded " I just spoke to them and they said that they took care of you I told them that they needed to finish one customers order before they can move on to the next, but they assured me that they did help you." After hearing him accuse me of lying about the situation I decided to walk away before I really lost my patience. When I left I couldn't shake the frustration, I had never been treated like that at a grocery store it was really unbelievable and ridiculous. I decided to call the Vons market customer service to let them know what was happening, after all if they easily treated me that way, I'm sure they treat a lot of their other customers the same way, like garbage. I filed the complaint, and I received a call from Von's customer service this morning. The woman who had called me asked me to explain what had happened the day before. I explained the situation once again and she had the audacity to say "now, I'm not calling you a liar, but I did speak to both Deli workers and they did say that they took care of you." I couldn't believe my ears. Were they all really calling me a liar just to save their asses? This had to be the most frustrating grocery experience I have ever experienced in my entire life. I told the lady on the phone but I couldn't believe she was calling me a liar , that I would never shop there again, and that I would write a review on my experience. She then offered me a $20 gift card which I declined. I wouldn't touch that place with a ten-foot pole. These people are just going to cover for each other and disregard good paying customers. Because of this terrible experience from the deli workers, the manager and customer service I will never even step foot in a Von's ever again. They ignored me as my turkey sat on the scale for quite some time, they gave me attitude, they were disrespectful, they called me a liar, they didn't apologize, customer service was not helpful. If the manager would have just apologized I would have walked away and things would have been fine but instead they called me a liar. I would not recommend this place to anybody. And now Vons response to my review with an automated response as if they cared about their customers. Great LOL read more

I was actually quite pleased with this Vons. They have a great selection in every department and isle I scanned through. The floors were clean, walk ways clear of clutter, good lighting throughout, large selection of plants, flowers, arrangements, gifts and seasonal items as well. I customer service was fine-I don't remember anything specific that grabbed my attention on either extreme-good or bad. The lines went smooth and fast, cashier was friendly and polite, she of course asked if I found everything I needed. The parking lot outside wasn't that packed, which was nice. Getting in and out went with ease, which I find to be refreshing when you've dealt with so many other negative experiences with other super markets. I appreciate and value businesses more when they make an effort to keep things well managed, clean, up to date and conducive for the customer. I'm willing to make more of an effort to support stores that are all about customer service and who want to maintain exceptional satisfaction. read more

I usually come here after work in the early morning or about 10pm before my shift starts. The store has yet to be busy when I have shopped here. Their bakery section is absolutely reliable. There have been many nights where on my way to work I remember it's someone's birthday and I'll stop in here and pick up a treat. I can walk in through the left hand side of the store straight to the bakery pick up a cake, and just steps away are their flowers and balloons. Their flower selections are bright, colorful and fresh.Even the cheapest bunch is beautiful. They have a pretty big ice cream cake for $25 chocolate cake with vanilla is cream and it easily feeds a bunch of people. Maybe my bad experiences at the Ralphs across the street have forced me to say it but Vons has the best store bought cake I have ever had. It was called "berries and cream". I got it for my friend for her birthday and it was delicious. They sell a fruit tart that resembles portos except this one has much sweeter custard. The best part of coming here when you're in a hurry is the cashier's here. They never take long. Even if the line is long it moves quickly making life just that much easier. read more

Visited this Vons for the first and last time today. The entire store was dimly lit and filthy disgusting. I walked into the bathroom and walked right out. I can't even believe someone thinks that what I saw in that bathroom was acceptable. The store is poorly laid out and not very well stocked. Over half the items on my list I could not find here. When I finally gave up and headed to the check out lines, there were 30 people in line and only 3 check lanes open. It was absolutely infuriating. I will drive 20 miles out of my way if needed, before I step foot in this store again. read more

Dig this place! I was driving by today after work had to stop and get something to drink. Been on a cleanse and making sure I eat healthy so I decided to get myself some ice cold Kambucha to quench my thirst. I was pleasantly surprised this Vons had a whole selection of Kambucha , ice cold ready to go. Picked out a new mango flavored which was delicious so I thought I'd write them a review. 5 stars for having a Kambucha section! Vons rocks. I've been coming here my entire life over 20 years and it's weird how the employees at the self checkout only ask certain looking people for a receipt to give out a bag. I've never been asked this before but I guess when you look young or different you got to prove that you aren't stealing. The woman at self checkout today didn't ask anyone else but us for a receipt and I don't like that kind of behavior. But I did buy a bag. Nice looking store with good selection of produce, deli and other standard grocery store items. My friends and I stopped here to pick up some snacks and use the restroom. The ladies restroom door has the key-code written right on the door so you don't have to ask anyone for it, but unfortunately it also has no way to know if someone is already inside. My friend punched in the code, opened the door, and a woman was already there, using the bathroom. How embarrassing! On closer inspection the door says there is a button to press when you're inside, to make a light flash on the outside if occupied, but the button and light have been removed/vandalized and are non-existent. Very awkward and would make me pick another store to shop at before coming here next time. read more

My review is strictly for the COVID-19 guidelines that aren't really being enforced. I was at this location a few days ago, and no one was keeping track of how many people entered the store, which meant that it was a fair amount of people all bunched together- 6 feet be damned! I had a hard time even clearing the main aisle to get to the produce section (because people were packed like tunas in a can at the checkout lines). A saw a few people walking around without mask. It just sucks because suddenly everyone thinks COVID-19 has vanished ‍ Maybe they we're having an off day, but it really irked the hell outta me especially since positive results are on the rise. read more

I am neighbor to this Vons so between my husband and I, we are at this store at least 3-4 times a week. Lately, we have been very disappointed because since we shop here ofter, we receive FREE perks on the store's app, however, most of the time we try to redeem our free items they are not in stock. Better yet, today 02/14/2020 we went to grab our Valentines essentials, and we felt that the costumer service from a cashier named Marvin was very rude. I did have at least 10 items, when I accidentally punched in a wrong number for my rewards, and kindly asked him to void the transaction because I made a mistake. He got frustrated at having to rescan the items, and I apologized saying "sorry about that", and he rudely responded "you should be sorry to the other costumers waiting, not to me", I felt bad and didn't respond anymore because I didn't want to make a fuss on Valentines Day... These bathroom are horrific . The guy in one stall was shooting up drugs and tried to let the employee know and they couldn't care less the other bathroom ! For the love of God, please fix your heater. The checkers are wearing coats and gloves. It's nearly impossible to walk around the store without freezing to death. I have a pregnant wife that wanted potato wedges a single pound for the the family and they said no. mind you they close the deli at 9pm and i cam in at 8:20. Sadly, this grocery store must be going through some changes, not for the best i must say. I have lived in the community for over 33 yrs and place is at its worst. Dirty..... so dated on food items etc.... Not a gluten free or vegetarian section like the other one in Granada Hills. My husband and I were in there three nights ago and the floors were filthy. There is a kind cashier that has been there for several years and she said she was sorry , some people don't care anymore. . Well, this is the closest store to me. Been coming here for AGES. The layout is the typical fruits and veggies section on one end, breads on the opposite end. This location is smaller, than the one on San Fernando Mission. But if you're torn between shopping here or Ralph's across the street, I would pick VONS. Ralph's evening clientele seem questionable. Even I wouldn't go to that Ralph's alone at night. Anyway, back to VONS. They keep this location clean, and stocked pretty well.
