I have been using Vortechs for about 9 years after having an issue with another large ac company here in Orlando. They consistently prove that prompt communication and customer service are a priority and combine that with effective maintenance and repair. After coming home from a business trip to find my AC was not working, I called Vortechs at 7:15am on a Saturday morning. The answering service said they would try and get a technician out the same day if possible. At 8:18am I received a call from Vortechs asking me if they could send someone out right away, which of course was a surprise to hear something so quickly. At 9:03am, Joseph who is the owner of Vortechs arrived. I've know Joseph for years and he has been the one who has been servicing my unit as part of my annual service plan. He went right to work. Joseph determined the issue was a short that tripped the safety switch. After testing all of the wiring and a replacement of the safety device, Joseph had my unit up and running by 10:30am. Since I am a maintenance plan member, Joseph said since this was a minor fix (although I lost count the number of times he has to go up and down my stairs) he said that he would only charge the diagnostic fee and no additional charges for the repair. I am continually impressed by Vortechs which explains why they have been my go-to for the last 9 years, except for a short stint with the company my home builder used when I moved. They were a total joke, so I went right back to Vortechs. I've referred them to others whenever asked and can't say enough positive things about Joseph and his team. read more

I inherited this company from the former homeowner. You have to pay them monthly to be a customer. My credit card is only attached for this monthly charge and it was hacked due to their faulty security. After a week I got an email stating they had canceled my service.When I brought this up I was told " we don't know about that" they don't care. During my 2.5 years of service with them they always find a way to make more off of you by finding something " wrong" Their service technician hates when you're home to watch them as well because they can't just not do the job and walk off. As stated in previous review they offer you the multi level plan after they find something " wrong" . I was told once that the part they replaced would reduce my power bill and the work was 600.00, it didn't do anything to reduce the power bill. I actually watched the technician do the preventative maintenance this summer and he half way did it. This credit card hack cinched it for me and I'll find another service. What worries me is they've done a lot of rigging on my system and that'll have to be fixed at a cost to me as well. I work on things for a living as well and I'm not fooled by shoddy work. There are plenty of AC people in Orlando so find a more reputable one! read more

AC stopped working a while back. Low on coolant. The new AC tech said there was a leak somewhere in the ground and they'd have to rip up my backyard a bit. We got a little suspicious so we had a family friend come over from Tampa for a second opinion. Turns out there was a leak in some blue contraption by the handler outside. A much simpler fix. Saved me an arm and a leg and a huge hassle. I hate to say it but I can't trust these guys any longer. I'm looking around for another company :-( read more

Great service and very knowledgeable - Ryan did a great job explaining why we were not getting enough airflow to the back of the house. By the time he left we were getting air out of the vents for the first time and it was cooling down the rooms. He also gave me additional options if we felt this was not enough airflow. I had called this company after I was given a somewhat weird, overly expensive estimate with little true explanation from a competitor. They were highly rated on Yelp and very responsive. After a simple call to their office, they were able to schedule a technician to come out to my residence within hours. The tech was professional, knowledgeable and did his due diligence. After a little while, he found the issue. This was dramatically lower in price and scope of the previous quote I received from another company. It was that time of the year for me. You know the one, time to pay the Florida Temperature Tax...my a/c died at 3am on the hottest night of the year so far. I did some normal checks on my own and figured out no compressor pumping the cold juice through the system as The Big Guy (not Brandon) intended, so I had to reach out for the Pro - fessionals. I found a few businesses on Yelp and started making calls. As it seems to be in Orlando, I got a lot of machines and only one return call. Vortechs returned my call quickly and explained their process for service calls. I agreed and they gave me a small window of time that they would have a technician come out to check out my issue. That window of time was sometime during the day. Not really an ideal thing since I'm not one of the CV-19 work from home brigade, but it was same day, so no complaints from me. Joe, the HVAC professional who came out to inspect my problem was very professional in his demeanor and conversation with me about my issues. He took the time to explain the situation with my HVAC system and possible solutions for repair. I asked a few questions, which were quickly and clearly answered, and Joe proceeded to make the necessary repairs. The repairs went reasonably quickly and he was able to get me back up and running. After the repairs, he did a system check to verify that the HVAC was in good working order, came in and explained everything once again then shook my hand and left. Nowhere during this process was I told I needed a left-hand Cannuder valve or that he would need to go back to the shop to retrieve his pipe stretcher to make repairs. I'll add my voice to the others on here and let everyone know these guys are great!! Joe and his crew are definitely the best option in O-town. My story started several months ago. My three-year old AC unit didn't seem to be keeping up with the heat last summer, so I eventually decided to research some companies. As you might have noticed, Yelp has these guys highly recommended, and I'd say they earned it. They were able to come out very quickly after the initial call and perform the maintenance service. During the process, they were awesome about explaining about exactly what they were doing, and why. I was several pounds low on refrigerant, so they suggested there was a leak. I was pretty skeptical considering how new the unit was (it came with the house I bought around three years ago). I had them run a leak test, and it turned out to be the evaporator coil on the inside portion of the unit. Boo Lennox (the maker of my AC unit) for that, by the way. The part was covered, but not the service (even though the part shouldn't have gone out this quickly). The cost of service was honestly higher than I was hoping to pay. I asked the guys if I could do some research and see if I could do the service at a lower rate. Although they seemed skeptical, they didn't make me feel like a jerk for wanting to do some research. Of course, I couldn't find anything lower than their rate. I put off getting it fixed for somewhere around six months or so (okay I'm a procrastinator). Finally I reached back out to them expecting to get a response of "well now it's even higher my procrastinating friend - that's what you get for doubting us too". Instead, they responded quickly to my email and had NO problem honoring the price they'd quoted. Even better, they were able to get the part and get someone out there within the next couple days (I still don't know how they got the part that quickly and were able to fit me in that fast). I had been working with Joe mostly up until this point (who is awesome to work with). Bobby and Ernesto were sent out to do the work to replace the coil. Even though I had the impression they were the "new guys" based on my conversations, they really seemed to know their craft and were very cordial as well. Kudos to them and to Joe for having an eye for talent. At this point, they definitely deserve another recommendation to add to their list. I'm really impressed, not only with their staff and business practices, but also their digital approach do doing things like taking pics of the unit and storing the info for future work, providing an emailed receipt, and making it easy to pay by card when the service is provided. My AC unit decided to crap out during the first storm of 2016. Yes, so while it was raining and clamoring with gusts of wind outside, inside it was starting to warm up little by little and suddenly I envisioned what hell must be like because it sure felt like it at my house. I was ready to pay. Beginning my search for quotes for my coil to be replaced & extra Freon or possibly a new unit. I had someone come out from another company in March telling me those were my options & because he was pricey, I decided to shop around. Thank God I found this company. Sheena provided an amazing customer experience to set up my appointment and Ricky provided the same exceptional customer experience in my home. Ricky could've easily told me the cost for all that I was asking, but instead inspected himself and found that I didn't have any issues with my unit/coil/Freon leaks or anything. BEWARE!!! Technician cut wires and messed up with my mothers central Air system to fraudulently charge her ten times more. Wanted 700$ to fix a fuse. The day after we called another technician who told us that the Vortechs guy cut off wires in revenge for not hiring him. They are thieves. BEWARE!!. Due to the damages he caused we paid the new technician 150$ instead of 60. But for sure not 700$. I applaud my mother for kicking him out. Stay away! read more

Vortechs technician, Joe, was out to check on my AC system. It was a complete waste of time, effort and $80 thrown down the drain. I chose Vortechs because it had a high rating and a lot of reviews, not 5 or 10. What a waste of time and my hard earned money. After a bit of troubleshooting I was told the it was an "Air Movement Fault." That's a very broad and ill defined label. When I asked for more detail Joe could not further explain it. Basically all he did was check a few voltages in the air handler and look up what it told him. He didn't do any real troubleshooting. He didn't test any relays or any or controller boards, or anything in the unit. He just didn't know how to troubleshoot a system beyond what the manual told him. AND HE NEVER LOOKED AT THE OUTSIDE UNIT! I paid the diagnostic fee, but only received half an effort. I was presented with options to fix the system, all expensive and ill defined. The best was the "voltage system enhancement rejuvenation." There's a bunch of weasel words for you. When I asked what that meant all he could do is restate the same 4 words in a different order. He could not tell me exactly what that was. I ask if it was the replacement of the capacitor? The relay? The voltage regulator? He didn't know, only that it was the rejuvenation of the voltage system. The menu of repairs ranged from $2700 down to $900. The $900 was the "band aid" fix that got the system working. If they knew how to fix it, then they know what is wrong with it. All the more expensive options were for extended warranty times and for things like "rehanging" the system in the attic. I won't be using these folks again, and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

I have used this company in the past and was satisfied with them the same technician showed up this time that has been in my home before he talk to me more about Plants then he did my AC unit. After an incredibly brief inspection outside, not even removing the shroud, he came in and told me I think I know what the problem is. He walked to his van came back and with his computer to show me a chart for different prices for four different fixes this is confusing to start with because I called you to fix my unit I don't need choices involved. It said Band-Aid fix was a little over $300 a complete fix was over 1000. The diagnosis was some rambling crap about voltage enhancement system. Said something about the wattage coming from the power company. I told him no to all his fixes and paid my $90 and sent him on his way. I went online and started researching apparently this is some new scheme AC companies have come up with to bill you basically for the same Repair at different levels of charges. A person in North Carolina had a complaint and got a news reporter involved who also contacted manufacturers of AC units they were told there is no such problem as that and there is no part to fix that diagnosis. My husband luckily had a friend that used to work for an AC company and still had gauges came over put his gauges on the unit and actually checked it out. My husband went and bought a $25 capacitor and my house has been cool ever since. I don't mind paying for your professional knowledge I don't care if it only takes you 15 minutes to fix the problem if you charge me a fair price. I would've happily paid you two or even $300 to fix my unit that day but with that chart in front of me and hearing him babble on about Voltage enhancement the unit has worked properly and fine for years why would all the sudden wattage from the street causing voltage enhancement issues. What a shame I actually thought I found a company that was honest don't feel that way anymore. I would not recommend or hired again! read more

This is a LOW INTEGRITY business that employs technicians that are dishonest, condescending, arrogant, and downright disrespectful. Joe Christopher the technician has a major attitude problem with a constant chip on his shoulder and refuses to communicate honestly with the customer as he does his analysis of the system. Then he gives me a menu of repair options prices $1000, $980, $780, $600, or $355 for the band aid fix. What a scam!!!! Joe then goes on to criticize me for the prior steps I had taken to troubleshoot the system and even attempts to show me my errors (but failed). At this point I chose to send Joe away based on his attitude and he then got even more arrogant and angry and said OK you owe $79.95 for the service call and stormed off to his van. I wrote the check for $79.95 and I wrote that Joe was an Asshole on the check so his company got the message. I went to the van and gave Joe the check and walked back into my house. After seeing the check, Joe began to call out to me and approached my front door and began pounding on my door and aggressively called for me to confront him. When I told him to leave and refused to open the door he accused me of threatening him with a gun and he called the police. Later the police visited my home because Joe told them I threatened him with a GUN. Shame on you dishonest punk JOE!!!! The police told me that even if I had had a gun inside of my home that it was OK. I called a real AC company and the problem was fixed within 2 hours for $140. You suck Vortechs and I think you manipulate your yelp scores based on my experience. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!! ALSO I called Vortech to speak to Joe's boss about the service call to file a complaint and I never received any calls back. BAD Company. read more

I found Vortechs on Yelp as the highest rated company with 9 5-star and 1 3-star review this Tuesday - just to come out and do some maintenance work, as it's been a year since I last had it checked. Who wants to be caught in a Florida summer without AC, right? They were a half hour outside of the window given, but that' fine, although a call would have been nice. When told that I needed a capacitor, I mentioned the 3-star review, which happens to be on the price of a capacitor (quoted $107, probably less than $10 at Home Depot). At that point, Joe became a little defensive. He quoted $65 for refrigerant. I thought it was high at the time, and I questioned in my heart how much he said he had to put in (3 lbs!!). I found out afterward that it really isn't a particularly gougey price these days, even if I still have a question about the amount needed. Seeing this hard-working man dripping in sweat in my kitchen, I figure that he is doing something I can't do myself; how fair is it that you ask someone to come check what the problem is, and then tell him you'll do it yourself after he's done the hard part of detecting the problem? So I relented, and I think Joe appreciated that. The final bill ended being a little less than what he quoted me. At night, the AC stopped working. I called Joe and asked if he could come out to check in the morning. He said he'd come right away, arriving in 30 minutes. He explained that it was a fire he looked at and should have replaced. Now you can say, "Well, why didn't you?" I choose to appreciate the responsiveness of this follow-up, and the fact that took time that time of the evening to re-check everything again. Fast forward to Sunday morning. My wife texts me that AC is not responding. When we came back from church, we restored the fuse and for a while, it seemed to be working again, although you still wonder why did it blow the fuse? When I called, I was told by Amanda that Joe (after she tried) was not available. First available time was 1-3 on Monday. I was disappointed that A) while I understand Joe might not be available, why couldn't someone else t come out to fix a problem I didn't have on Monday before Vortechs got involved AND made me $400 poorer. B) why am I at the back of the line when this is the completion of a job not yet done? I'll call in the morning to see if we could get a time sooner, and I'll update when this is resolved. For now, I'm netting out to be not a very happy camper. read more

After calling Del-Air and being told the earliest they could get someone out was Monday afternoon, I was desperate to find someone who could fix it earlier. Pricing was super reasonable, their tech was professional, actually fixing mistake our previous tech made, and it was done quickly. I couldn't be happier. We had just bought a pre-owned home, only to find that the air conditioning system was faulty and would not cool below 78-degrees...and was *always running* (symptoms unfortunately not spotted by the home inspector). Over the first week in the home, we had three HVAC techs from two companies out to diagnose the problem and *none of them could give us a definitive diagnosis*. The last tech (who thought is might be a bad compressor) recommended we get "a second opinion" and suggested we try Vortechs. Are we glad he did! From our first contact in making the appointment (with Christine), the entire Vortechs experience was top notch. They accommodated our situation by arranging for a prompt service appointment. Texted us when the tech was "on the way" and, happily, he even arrived a few minutes early. Once he arrived, the Vortechs tech, Eddie, opened the door to the inside gas furnace air-handler unit and INSTANTLY identified the problem: the 3/8" copper tubing that was supposed to run from the air-handler to the outside unit had been shabbily patched/welded to a pre-existing 1/4" pipe, greatly reducing the necessary pressure/flow, impeding the system's effectiveness, and - ultimately - likely causing damage to the compressor. Although Eddie drew up a reasonable estimate to replace the copper line, he did caution that the Goodman system (that the previous owner had installed) was not likely to provide us with long term quality heating and air conditioning. No "hard sell", just a mention of professional concern that we may wish to consider now or in the future. He left it up to us to decide how we'd like to proceed. As this is likely our "retirement home", my wife and I decided to replace the entire system - and asked Eddie for his recommendations and estimate. Once he thoroughly understood and ascertained our home's capacity and our lifestyle needs, he prepared an estimate for a complete HVAC replacement, using top-of-the-line Tempstar (made by the same company that makes Carrier) indoor and outdoor equipment. Once we made the decision to proceed with the installation, all scheduling, financing and coordination was quickly and professionally handled (again by Christine) and three days later, Eddie (who turns out to be an installer as well as service technician!) returned with Chris to remove the old units and install the new ones. Despite the 94-degree heat, Eddie and Chris were complete professionals - working like clockwork to put all the pieces together to get the new system up and running. They seemed to know exactly what they were doing and left us feeling confident that the job was in "good hands". Although Eddie initially said "we should be done by day's end", they actually finished by mid-afternoon, at which point Eddie gave us a thorough "how-to" course on running and maintaining the system - answering all our questions. He and Chris seemed proud of the system they'd installed, which made us feel good about the purchase. Eddie took complete accountability for the work and urged us to call if we should ever have a question or concern. The system is working like a charm. Once the house cooled to our desired 72-degrees, the system has been responsive, efficient and feels much more than sufficient. We look forward to the winter months to try out our gas furnace, but are certain we will be equally pleased with the system's performance. A huge difference from the (previously botched) HVAC system that came with the house! The key thing is that ALL the Vortechs people we interacted-with were forthright, receptive, honest and genuinely caring. They seemed to take genuine pride in Vortechs technical expertise and customer service. And it shows! Thank you, Vortechs...we feel we have an HVAC company we can trust. read more

I contacted this company to install a new air conditioner and rework terrible duct work in my Mom's home near Lake Wales. They were at her house the very next morning. They did an assessment of what was needed, and they scheduled the work to be complete within two days. They worked very hard in stifling heat and stayed late until the job was done - exactly on time. The price was reasonable, and the job was done very well. I made sure to get full details from my Mom before paying, and she was more than satisfied. I'm VERY protective of my mother, and very picky about how she's treated - I couldn't have been happier with what I heard from her about the service she received. I spoke to Joe about the job and took care of payment. He could not have been nicer. I even ended up chatting with him about things that had nothing to do with the job. He was very personable and very kind. He clearly takes pride in the work they do, and he should. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for this type of service. read more

I have had a home in Orlando for 13 or so years and have had some dealings with HVAC guys that are not above board, so I am really happy that I have found these guys. I wish I found Joe and Vortech years ago. As an often times out of state owner, I have seen it all. I appreciate businesses that are honest and efficient. Joe and crew fits that bill. I recently had a hairy valve repair and they handled it no problem. Just the other night, I had a random Capacitor issue(my unit is newer but China slipped the U.S. a bunch of these bogus things in the early 2000s) and Joe came thru at 9pm and fixed it N\C (No Charge) on his way home from another job. This was going to be a very simple "great service, fixed my problem" review with 5 stars. My AC condenser pan and drain clogged and it required a cleaning. Alan came out and suctioned it out, said everything looked good, showed me the reports and said the AC was great. Fast forward 12 hours. I noticed this morning the temp in the house hadn't reached its nighttime temperature but I didn't think much of it. The AC was on and working -- unfortunately cold air wasn't coming out. I didn't realize it until the temperature raised 10 degrees within a couple hours even with the AC on. I called and they were so nice and got Alan and an associate out where he told me that all my freon was gone. They verified there were NO leaks in the system and worked to convince me that someone had stolen my freon (from a double gated community with very little foot traffic). I could not comprehend how a perfectly operating system could lose all the freon within 12 hours and not have something to do with the technician. I do not believe there was any malicious intent however I do believe a mistake was made. I asked to speak with Joe, the owner. He begrudgingly agreed to speak with me after Alan briefed him. Although he disagreed with my conclusion that his team had something to do with it, he did agree to fully refill the air conditioner with freon and then terminate my relationship with their company. I was fired as a customer. I don't understand why a business owner would fire a customer if they truly had no fault in the issue. Pieces do not fit together - a perfectly operating AC unit full of freon becomes empty because "someone must have stolen it" when the ac repairman was the only person near the ac unit within a 12 hour time and I was home during the alleged "theft." I did find a few other reviews online that had similar stories. I hope mine will help others not have the same issue. UPDATE: Had AC checked by another service, found out my gauge/valve area was loosened likely because of an improperly removed gauge. Had it refilled again and have had no problems since the other company refilled it. If I had an option, I would bill Vortech for the $317 it took to refill my system and the $79 they charged me for a checkup. read more

I had to make an appointment last week because AC unit started leaking. Of course, this was on Friday, after 5 and the first day of summer. They called me this morning right after 8 to see if I was going to be home and let me know they were on their way. They got here before 9, looked at the problem, showed me about 5 different options to fix and let me pick which one I wanted. I have had this great company out for different problems. Recently, highly professional and dependable technicians came and done an inspection check of my air conditioning unit. Have done business with them since 2017 after a year struggling with other companies giving bad advice, providing bandaids, and unable to find why my air conditioning unit was functioning properly. Vortechs found the problem and honestly gave me options. Since the unit was an original that came with the house when I bought it in 2005, the unit was not the best quality to handle Florida heat. They offered me a brand new unit with an excellent interest-free financing. I'm completely satisfied with the product and workmanship. Vortech technicians did a thorough job of installing the complete unit, which was difficult. They had to put new piping under the house which was interesting to watch. This was the best visit from an ac company. I called on Thursday and schedule an appointment for the next day. I received 2 text confirming our appointment time. Then the Friday morning Lake called me when she was 20 minutes out. After spending 45 minutes to an hour everything was updated and I can feel the ac unit working better then before. I will use them again and recommend them to friends and family. read more

I've used Vortechs for a couple of years and initially they were really good. In fact, a little over a year ago I had them replace my whole system. But recently I called them out to quote installing a couple of vents in a 1934 house my daughter just purchased and is remodeling. The tech came out, spent 10 minutes at the house and gave what I felt was a really high quote. Then imagine my surprise when I was charged for a service call!! No seriously - charged a service call. I sent the owner an email questioning it, especially given the amount of business I had done with them. The response I got floored me - he said since there were no blueprints or anything they don't consider it a quote. So I paid the $80 and had someone else come look at it. And I was glad I did because the extensive 10 minute look from the yard the Vortechs tech did completely missed the fact that the existing system want ducted correctly and had to be redone. I'm guessing these guys have just grown way too fast and lost sight of the fact that their customers are the ones that keep them in business. I called Vortechs at 11 am and they had a technician (Jose) here within a half hour. Considering how far away I am from their office this was remarkable and surprising. They were upfront with the initial fee on the phone call and were able to find and solve the problem quickly (a loose wire). They instructed me on how to trouble shoot my specific problem if it were to accidentally occur in the future. After resolving the problem he proceeded to check various pressures and readings for the system overall to find any shorts or bad wiring. Closed everything up and was underway in an hour or so from initial arrival time. They offer a membership for quite cheap that includes preventative maintenance for the next year which is comforting for a new home owner. I am very satisfied with their service and the positive attitudes of their service people. read more

BEWARE! Horrible customer service and the work that was reportedly performed was not completed! I found this company through their glowing Yelp rating by several people, however my experience with them has been less than ideal. My a/c was spewing water from the handler inside my house, so I used a shopvac to do the little I could in the drain line, and called Vortechs in a panic to get professional help. My call was returned on a Sunday night, and the service techs showed up the next day. I was hopeful the company would live up to their Yelp reviews. The technicians showed up on time, took a few readings and told me everything was fine. I inquired about the safety switch, which should have turned off my unit when the water started overflowing, and I told it was "probably fine." After a minute of testing the switch for it's functionality, the tech nonchalantly said, "oh, I guess it's broken." He didn't have the part with him to replace it, so he gave me an estimate for it's future repair and tried to up-sell me on a $600 servicing for my ducts. I purchased a 'gold membership' at the time of this first "preventative maintenance," which entitled me to a future preventative service and a discount on any other future servicing. The preventative servicing was $90 for one visit or $150 for 2 bi-annual + servicing discounts. I thought everything was fixed. Ironically a few days later my unit stopped cooling my house and completely froze over. Vortechs scheduled a diagnostic visit quickly, and the technician determined the motor in my air handler would need to be replaced. This visit cost me $60 (after the membership discount, regularly $80), and I was given an estimate of about $1350 (after the 15% membership discount) for the motor repair. The part would need to be ordered since the tech didn't have it available. I decided to call a few other places to get additional estimates and see if anyone might have the part so it could be repaired it right away. I found another company who could come the same day, had the part, and charged me $100 less even without a discount. This second company did an amazing job! Not only did he replace my motor quickly, but took it on himself to do a complete run through of my system and found that my safety switch was still broken and beyond that my drain line was clogged... something that should have been cleaned out during the preventative servicing I had just paid for from Vortechs! This man cleared my drain line AND my replaced my safety switch right then at no additional charge. Incredibly frustrated that I had just paid Vortechs over $200 for servicing I found out was not actually performed I called to get my money back. I was told they would credit my money for the membership I no longer wanted, but still had to charge me full price for the preventative maintenance and now full price for diagnostic appointment since I was no longer a member. A grand total of $170, and I would only be credited $30. I was told their technician reported that he'd cleared the drain line, so he MUST have performed the service, and their work is guaranteed so I SHOULD have called to have them come again (for a third time). I was told it was my fault that I made the choice to allow another company to perform the service that should have been done in the first place. It did not matter to Vortechs that I never would have realized my drain lines were still clogged if it had not been for another a/c professional. It did not matter to Vortechs that I had to be the one to alert their technicians of the problem with my safety switch. And on top of that they tried to up-sell me on services that didn't relate to my current issue. All in all, I would never recommend this company due to their lack of skilled technicians who instead go for the up-sell instead of performing their job, and their terrible customer service who insists on blaming the customer for their failure, without any attempt to go above and beyond. Perhaps since they already knew they had lost me a customer in the future they chose to stick it to me for all they could without regard for how to make up for not performing what I'd paid for.
