I think I just found a new nail place! Booking was easy. I called to check the prices and they were on par with other places. I booked a day in advance and I was sent a text when booking to confirm what I was having done. Side note: I used to go to Nails and Spa at 231 New Byhalia, but they became rude and had long wait times even when you had an appt. The final straw was when they told me I only booked for a manicure and not a pedicure and she refused to do my pedi...this was because when I called to book, they are short with you and rush you off the phone, plus there is a bit of a language barrier. So this made me appreciate even more the text confirmation that VSL sent. I was running a bit behind for my appt, so I called to tell them and she said no problem. When I arrived, I was greeted quickly and the shop was clean and tranquil with several tv's and relaxing music playing. Nathan was my nail tech. Athough the job was not as precise as others, I still think he did well...it could also be the type of polish they use, not sure. Anyway, the pedicure bath and manicure area were clean and their procedures were sterile. Nathan was personable and was patient with my pain tolerance and sensitivity levels. They offered me a beverage during my services and checked on me routinely to make sure I was ok. When I was unsure about the color I chose after they applied it, they still worked with me to help help make it right. A good experience. I think will make this my regular nail place. read more

Poor Management and Customer Appreciation. I have been going to this nail spa for a couple of years and unfortunately after all the good service provided by the nail techs, I am addressing my unhappiness of a business practice. Upon completion of my service today, I was charged $25 more than I anticipated. Apparently the polish I requested was a premium one, but I was not told up front. This normally wouldn't have been an issue, but originally I was not going to get a pedicure. I reviewed my budget and decided to get a mani and pedi, expecting to pay a set amount. At checkout, I was surprised by the additional $25 charge and the receptionist acknowledged that she didn't inform me prior to getting my nails done, as there were not any pricing listed by the "special" colors. When she called her management, there was a lot of back and forth and it was decided that I could only get $10 off..over budget. While that may not appear to be a lot of money, it is the principal. I was disappointed in the decision as I frequent both of their locations in Collierville, TN and spend an average of $118 monthly. Apparently the owner doesn't understand the importance of a happy customer and the sales I bring to his business. I will not return because of this decision. I was in town for the weekend and took my disabled mother for a manicure and pedicure. They were very attentive to my mom which I am very grateful for, but the polish and manicure was way below par. They actually tell you at signing in the polish does not last long on manicures, which I am well aware of. However, day one we are both without polish on our fingernails. It was a pretty expensive manicure, and I get them consistently where I live. They apparently were well aware of their way below average manicures and put it out there for you. I've been coming to this nail salon for 2 years now. I loved it. They are expensive but the quality was worth it. I too thought that my last two Visits were just hiccups and they would do better but I went again and it was the same. I went in for a pedicure and was out in 20 min, I didn't sit in the water so my nails could soak the nail tech was rushing to get to the next person... My spa day was ruined again because they rush all the time... The quality has become very poor. I won't say his name but he got so mad that I didn't like the color that he broke the nail polish. I don't think he did it on purpose but his frustration caused him to break it. When I come to a nail shop I want to be pampered especially when I pay those high prices and tips... I think they make the prices up depending on who you are. Charged $80 for dip with tips and toe polish change. No soaking off, no mani and no pedi. The next day I got it fixed. Now it has been five days later, and the same nail has broken again. Over $100 dollars spent and now I have returned to my nail salon at home and pay all over again. Ridiculous. Either purchase better quality products or lower your prices. This salon was my go-to for a year, and I'm highly disappointed in this salon. Going to a salon should be a place of serenity with top-tier services (especially with their prices), but they serve the complete opposite, bad attitudes that don't sit well with me. I've decided to cut my ties. I'm not a fan of rudeness. Politely holding a nail tech accountable for the service you requested and will essentially pay for shouldn't cost anyone an unpleasant visit. I went in about a half a week and a half ago for a full set and a couple of days later one of my nails started lifting like it was broken while I was getting dressed so I went back and they fixed it for me with no issue now about a week later 3 more nails are lifting. Let me start by saying that as a nurse, I never get my nails done unless it's a special occasion, so they were in great/healthy condition, until I came here. I've never had my nails drilled before, and they drilled them (I got dip) to the point of being so thin that they are now flexible. However, it does not stop there. The guy that did my nails also filed the sides down so deep that he removed my entire layer of cuticle. After me jerking my hand back and saying it hurt, he continued to do it. I know I should have left after the 3rd nail was treated so roughly, and that is on me. It was so bad that I had to apply neosporin to my nails for 3 days straight. I have splinter hemorrhages on multiple nails where the capillaries under my nails burst from overzealous drilling. Ughhhh! It took under 30 minutes for this place to totally destroy my nails. Update-it's been almost 2 months, and my nails are destroyed. They are not only splitting on the sides, but they are also splitting down the middle. This is awful, and extremely painful. I've been going here for years. Kayla is awesome. She does a great job every time. The prices however have become ridiculous. Every time I go there's a new $5 add on. I have gotten the exact same shape for years, however now they continue to charge $6 for "shape" even with paying for a dip manicure. They also charge a $5 soak off every single time, even though I never get them done anywhere else nowadays. Last time he broke my nail while drilling then there was a $5 "nail enhancement" charge because he added acrylic to the bottom of the crack in which was his fault. This time I chose a black color and asked for a sparkle coat on top. I was charged $10 for a design. My dip manicure was $76 today. Watching these charges continue to accumulate has finally broken me and I will not be back. There are much cheaper places in town for a basic manicure. Wasn't even offered a drink. The nail salon/spa is beautifully decorated & soft music plays. This ensures a serene & relaxing experience. Henry (owner) is soft spoken, treats his employees well & they are all very efficient. He is a Vietnamese, Christian man who had the courage to open a business recently and, frankly, I'm not sure why he doesn't have more clients. VSL Nail Spa Collierville did not honor the discount I was suppose to receive. VSL Nail Spa is on a point system. Customers are to receive one point for every dollar spent. After $100 is spent, customers receive 100 points which provides a $5 discount on the next visit. Every visit the nail tech would run the credit card without applying my discount. On my last visit, and I do mean LAST, I stop her before she ran the credit card, showed her my receipt from the last visit, and told her that I want to use my discount. By this time, I have accumulated enough points to receive $10 off. She brushed me off and told me to speak to the manager. So I did. Presented him the receipt with ALL of the information on it (number of points and discount owed), and he refused to honor it. His explanation was that he just took over the shop and they no longer use the point system. What? So all this time I think I am accumulating points for my services, just to learn that the discount will not be honored? Tried to get him to see the right thing to do is to honor the receipt to keep a customer. He then pretends not to understand English. OK. But he understands it enough to say he will not honor the discount. Then the ultimate insult, he said that must have gotten my services from another VSL location, even though the receipt clearly says Collierville. Beware! This nail salon makes commitments only to lure you back to their business. You think you are accumulating points to receive a discount, but your visits will not be honored. Scammers! read more
