Absolutely love this liquor store. In general, their prices are awesome.. their sale prices are almost a steal. The guys who work there are awesome and very helpful. Recently a friend and I bought over $400 worth of discounted champagne and wine, all french, from WH Frank. Out of 14 bottles, 8 were corked. All of the corked bottles (4 each of champagne and bordeaux same vintage/vintner e.t.c.) I thought this was a joke as we were opening them. Then I called the shop, which I have been going to for over 15 years, and they acted like they had never seen me before. My email have gone unanswered for a month now. The importer says to contact them, and we have to see what Franks says before they can go further. Please save your dollars and shop elsewhere. Needless to say WH Frank has lost two good customers. W H Frank or "Frank's" as I call it, is a top class wine & liqour store. They have a considerable collection of fine wines, at absolutely incredible prices. Probally some of the best prices I've seen on the east coast. Make no mistake about it, this is truly my favorite wine and spirits store. The staff is friendly and helpful, and although my opinion on a wine may, and does, strongly differ from their suggestions. I've learned that taste is an individual preference. I don't hold it against them, but I don't ask their opinion on wines anymore. Still, they offer a very nice selection of wine at some of the best prices you will find. read more

I bought, on their advice, a bottle of veuve-clicquot Grand Dame champagne. Now, I drink beer. This was for my wife's birthday. I explained I didn't know anything about wine, and was going by their expertise. It cost $180, and they boasted it was "old vintage". We stored it on its side in a cool room, and finally opened it to celebrate one day. It was bad. We poured it back in, and I took it back. Basically, they said "Too bad. You should have known it was a risk." After much discussion, the owner took out $60 and gave it to me, saying it was out of his own pocket and the goodness of his heart. As it happened, the son of a good friend is a wine expert (as in, a degree, years of experience, and works for one of the most exclusive wine shops in the world. He was astounded at their reaction. Last week, I went to Bottle Values in Bethpage, and repeated the story to two gentlemen who worked there. They couldn't believe it. I purchased another bottle of Grand Dame there, and they assured me if there was anything wrong, anything at all, they would give me another bottle, or a comparable value brand, or a refund. We've been going to Frank's for over 20 years. I will never set foot in there again. read more

My family and I discovered Franks years ago and they have not changed a bit! Their prices are phenomenal, they have all wines and liquor and the place is family owned and the family are all great people! I have been a home owner in central Islip for 33 years, and I have bought liquor from Frank's for almost that long. I used to go there when the old man was there, and he had that anti-Clinton poster on the door. Every time I would walk in the store, he would go up to watch me on the upper deck as if I was going to rob the place. There was always that feeling that they were too good for the neighborhood. Not long ago, I went in there and took a bottle of Drambuie to the counter, I thought it was on sale because the price was too good for Frank's, but the young guy at that counter acted as if I had changed the price myself. I was insulted, and decided to get it somewhere else. They are definitely not customer-friendly, and contrary to what I have been reading, the liquor is definitely over-priced. I don't think I would go back there in the near future. read more

Been buying wine at WH Frank for 10 years. One bottle in a case was corked. When I took it back to get a credit I was told it was fine, even though the cork smelled putrid. "Go home and enjoy it," the manager said. "In my opinion, it's fine." He lost a good customer over a $10 bottle of wine, which is a business owner's prerogative, but do you really want to buy wine from a guy who can't tell when a bottle of wine is corked? read more
