W Hotels have an incredibly confusing place in today's society. They started as a party spot, then become somewhat uncool as the original party crowd became old and in recent years, something new happened. An extra layer of class became prevalent in the brand, focused on architecture and provokingly elegant futuristic design that ditched the original cheap, colorful party theme.
So, W Edinburgh may be the most beautiful W in the world. In contrast to Edinburgh's otherwise traditional architecture, this futuristic spiral stands out in the most beautiful way. Not only that, but the structure provides breathtaking views of old town Edinburgh from almost any space in the hotel, from room balconies to restaurants.
The 24/7 room service is efficient and delicious, with venison wrap being a real gem at 3am. The rooms are gorgeous, fresh and new. The stone bar by the bed does not disappoint. The restaurants like Sushisamba and the speakeasy are perfection.
As a Platinum Elite, there was a room upgrade to a larger room with a balcony. Not a huge upgrade, but still pleasant. They honored late checkout without issues and breakfast is also one of the best for a W, included for elite members and served in SushiSamba.
All around, this may just be the most perfect hotel in Edinburgh and provides an experience that contrasts tradition of this beautiful city, while allowing visitors to enjoy its skyline. read more
