I totally loved this hotel too. A few steps from the castle and beautiful st Giles cathedral, it has a contemporary decor. The bed was not too comfortable as I previously reviewed some other hotels but doable. The bathroom was super nice, pics to follow. Has a nespresso machine, safe. We were suprised with a complimentary bottle if red wine waiting for us in the room. Not sure what we did right to receive that :) and the breakfast is legendary with 90 something item continental breakfast for only 15 pounds per person. My sole regret is that I did not read about the "prossecco on tap" until the morning I was leaving... I can assure you I'd have hooked myself up to that drip in mighty fashion -- but alas Sligh House became our "local away from home" during this stay. Next time, G&V bar, next time. Formerly The Missoni Hotel -- it was acquired by G&V Royal Mile (Carlton Group) in May of 2014. The statement Missoni decor still stands strong -- from top to tail this hotel is outfitted beautifully with the finest soft furnishings, clean lines and comfort. *free, easy, reliable wifi with no password. Praise the Lord! *each member of staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Every single one. *the beds/pillows/blankets/duvet -- supreme comfort and cleanliness. *bath products = 5 stars. Including conditioner! This is not always a given. *high power hairdryer. *breakfast offering very nice. *nespresso machine in room + kettle *soft and fluffy towels. *room service = thumbs up! From their Restaurant Cucina. Arrived swiftly. *in room wine is really great. (wooooops!) The half bottle size makes it more justifiable. *turndown service nightly -- deluxe. *Scotsman paper each morning by request *gorgeous city view from my room (408) Honestly the only small fault I can find is that the gym opens at 9am. It gave me the motivation to head outside (Arthur's Seat and The Meadows both located fairly nearby) -- but a quick gym session would've been amazing, not sure what business traveler is working out after 9am? Small detail. I had a very small issue in my room (my bedside light was smoking) -- I reported it to them just so they knew and could replace and it was attended to as if my room were on fire. I was asked if I wanted to move! Of course I didn't want to, but I really appreciated the offer. I have a feeling they are going above and beyond with each of their guests. They really go the extra here. A truly delightful and enjoyable stay. If every hotel were like this, I may never return home. If you are traveling to Edinburgh, this is your spot. read more

Awwwww. Why do I get the feeling this hotel is trying to tighten it's purse strings? Super sad times. In stark comparison to my first stay, this one was a huuuugggeee disappointment. Seriously. I cannot explain how much I was looking forward to heading back here. If you read my previous review, you will see that it was genuinely my favourite hotel I'd ever stayed in. How the mighty have fallen. My main issue was my room which must have been in an old wing. There was carpet coming up on the stairs, the heating was dodgy, the TV was about 30 years old, it was tiny, there was a big hole in the wall behind where it was plugged in. It was just so tatty and depressing. The breakfast is next up. Last time I was here it was so decadent - it was overflowing with amazing food and that cake table, wow. This time it just all looked so sparse (and I wasn't there late), and well, sorry to say the word again, depressing. The doughnuts made inhouse were stale, and the service was terribly slow and uninterested. Nail in the coffin? No hot men in kilts to greet you. Hotness and kilts aside, I was trying to get a taxi leaving there and I ended up having to stand out on the street trying to get one myself as there was no one there to help me, and the company reception called never turned up. If I'm paying a fair chunk of money, I'd hope there'd at least be a door man there to help with bags, taxis etc. All over, really G&V you broke my little hotel heart! read more

Right when you walk into this hotel, your eyes quickly adjust to the modern colors and decor. I felt like Alice in Wonderland and all I wanted to do was explore. The lobby is filled with chairs of all shapes and sizes for those who need a place to just sit back and take it all in. Hahaha. But honestly, I really cannot get over how cute this hotel is. Check-in: Short and sweet. Very fast service. The front desk lady was very nice. Explained breakfast. How to get there. What it included. Offered maps. Pointed to elevators. Elevators/lifts: You need your key to access any of the floors. Love the security of that aspect. Hallway to rooms: As you walk down the hallways, the ceiling lights will automatically turn on. Very classy and I bet saves the hotel a lot of energy instead of having the lights constantly on. Rooms: Heavy doors with deadlock. Big plus in my book. The room I had came with a king sized bed. Two actual pillows and four for decor. Great, comfy bed. Sheets are thick and fluffy. The view was of the main street that the hotel is located on. So it was a great way to people-watch. The bathroom is amazing. Heated floors. Huge sink with lots of room to put your makeup or vanity kit. Shower is huge. The water flows from the ceiling, which makes it feel like you are showering in warm rain. Lovely. Toilet is standard. The room comes with a closet. A complex coffee maker. A shoe rack. In the bathroom, there is a lovely robe and in the shoe rack, there are slippers. Overall: The hotel itself is very modern. Kind of boutique-ish style, which is definitely a great contrast to the city of Edinburgh. I love the decor. I love the little amenities. I love the staff. Definitely need to check this place out. I'm struggling to find fault with the G&V - this hotel sure does know how to make you feel like you're staying in incredible luxury! It's a great location and even though it's right in the heart of Edinburgh, it's not noisy at all once you're in your room. The staff are all super lovely and above-and-beyond seems to be their default option. Check-in was smooth and easy, and they offered to show me to my room and take my bags. The rooms are a good size - I'm in a signature room which is one up from the basic room and it's by no means small - a massive bed with a large bathroom and shower and lots of storage space. There's lots of nice little touches which make this place even nicer - the windows are full length of the room so you get a splendid view over the city, the bathroom is bursting with every toiletry you could need, the towels are so snuggly and the shower is tiled in disco silver tiles. Whoever does their housekeeping seems to be some kind of angel - I've never had a room tidied with such care before. There really isn't much I could find to complain about - the mini bar is pricey, and there's no bath in a signature room, but those aren't deal breakers for me. The breakfast is served on the mezzanine level and comes with a buffet (including things like salmon and mackerel which is a real treat at a buffet!) and a hot menu. I haven't tried the hot menu yet as I had a light breakfast on my first morning here (read: massively hungover) but I will update this review when I do. I love the guys who stand at the front door too - they are so friendly and helpful (and look dashing in their kilts) and will happily get you a taxi. I can't comment on the hotel as a whole, but the cocktail bar is pretty lovely! Looking for somewhere close to the City Chambers to go for a drink after a Girlguiding Edinburgh event on what must be the stormiest night of the year, we stumbled into the G&V. Not deterred by our Girlguiding uniforms and windswept appearance we were swiftly given a table and a cocktail menu by a super friendly waitress. We each picked a cocktail, and they were made pretty quickly. While a bit pricier than your average cocktail, the cocktails were lovely. My friend particularly enjoyed the bejewelled stirrer that came with her Kir Royale! Sadly with the horrible weather, we decided to only stay for one and then head home, but I'd happily have tried others on the menu! If you're looking for somewhere for a nice cocktail for a special occasion then you could certainly do worse than trying this place! read more

If I could give Hotel Missoni 10 stars I would. Perfectly located on George IV bridge, it's a two minute walk from the Castle and a five minute walk to the Grassmarket and the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Whilst the outside of the building isn't anything special, every aspect of the inside from the reception and the hallways to the rooms is S*U*B*L*I*M*E. Designed and run by the Italian fashion house, HMi is decorated in beautiful and brightly coloured Missoni fabrics and textiles. Everywhere you look, there's splashes of bright pink, acid green, canary yellow and aqua strategically placed alongside bold grey and black and white stripes. Visitors are free to roam the hotel and check out the fabulous lamps, chairs and fabrics dotted around different floors but tourists are restricted to the bar and restaurant. In fact, the hotel is so swish you need a room key to activate the candy striped lifts! As for the rooms, I was lucky enough to stay for 3 nights and was given a beautiful double with floor to ceiling windows, breath-taking views and the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. In keeping with the designer furniture, there was a Bang & Olson flatscreen TV, an illuminated drinks cabinet and a high end coffee maker with fresh coffee and espresso cups. My only grumble and it's a tiny one, is that I really wanted a bath and unfortunately, only the suites have baths. I can't compain however, as the bathroom was hidden behind a sliding door and included full length mirrors, luxury Missoni bathrobes and a gorgeous wet-room with power shower. Would I go back again? This might just be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The whole experience was flawless and I was treated like a VIP throughout my visit... But I'm getting ahead of myself. First, I'll talk you through the experience. So, I was in Edinburgh for a few days with work. World weary, on Sunday afternoon I trudged up the hill from the station with my ridiculous suitcase after a 4 hour train ride. Having been to Edinburgh before, I knew the location (the bridge), but must have walked past this hotel many times before without ever really noticing it was there. It has a lovely glass entry way and the staff are dressed very classily, but with a Scottish touch (tartan, kilts and a funky green and purple colour theme). I was welcomed heartily by the staff and got checked in straight away. I was advised that the water in the room was free (a lovely touch) and it was offered to take my bags to my room, but after bringing them that far I just took them myself. You need to insert a key card to use the lifts, but once I got my head around this it was fine. I was on the third floor in a signature room (which is slightly bigger than a basic room), but I get the feeling you would have an amazing experience no matter where you were placed. I loved the eye-catching decor, the bathroom was AMAZING and the view from the room (overlooking the Royal Mile) was mind-blowing. The bed and pillows were very soft (I prefer it a bit more firm, but it did scream luxury) and the free shampoo AND SEPARATE CONDITIONER (rather than a rubbish all in one) were really nice touches. As Briony has said, the mini bar is expensive, but actually about standard for a hotel standard. The breakfast (which was included in our rooms), might just be the BEST hotel breakfast I have ever had. With a choice of hot food from the menu and a very generous cold buffet, I was in brekkie heaven! I didn't use the bar, but was advised there is Prosecco on TAP and it seemed swish, stylish and the kind of place you might take someone for a fancy drink on a date. I loved my experience here. My only real complaint was that £50 per night was taken as a buffer on my debit card (as I don't have a credit card), but other than that.... Staff - friendly and helpful. Rooms - superb (if not a little warm, but they do have air con), Decor and ambiance - FABULOUS. I am actually now looking to book here for a future trip with my husband. I would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

This hotel is very conveniently located on the Royal mile just beneath the castle, it was previously the Missoni hotel but has been the G&V for a few years now. This was a recommendation by a friend who'd stayed before. We didn't stay at this hotel, just popped in for a cocktail (or 4). The hotel is nicely decorated and was lit up with candles which gave it a lovely ambiance, we were greeted by a staff member who guided upstairs to the bar. The bar is connected to the restaurant, we sat in a cosy booth overlooking the restaurant. It was early but there was a buzz to the place which is a good sign. We ordered the vodka based 'Passion' sharing cocktail for two (see attached photo for ingredients), it came with sorbet which went perfectly. Incredibly refreshing and moreish. For £19 we got about 4 cocktails each! and it was DELICIOUS. We also got some complimentary wasabi nuts, nice touch. Everyone looked good but people weren't overly dressed up which was actually quite a nice change for a posh ish bar, very smart casual. People just letting their hair down over good food and drink. read more

I've stayed in plenty of hotels in my time but none come close to the exceptional opulence, service and beautiful views at the G&V Hotel. It's simply amazing in every way. The views, the rooms and the service are faultless. Being a naturally messy person I found the afternoon turn down service a charm. Every day I left my room in a state and came back to it looking pristine. Like little magic Scottish cleaning pixies had sprinkled their magic dust while I was out working. My room came equipped with a coffee machine, a starship enterprise style TV and a waterfall like shower. These 3 things along with the scenic views made my trip amazing. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and due to the hotel's proximity to Edinburgh Castle you could hear the faint cry of bagpipes in the distance, at first I thought the hotel were pumping it in to my room. Being an analytical person I tried and tried to find a fault with this hotel but I simply couldn't! The easiest 5 stars I have ever given! read more

Can walk easily to the Grass Market - where there are lots of shops, pubs, restaurants etc. It is also at the corner of George IV bridge and the Royal Mile - most of the tours start from some point on the Royal Mile. Also, the Hop on Hop Off bus stops right in front of the hotel Décor - Modern, contemporary lobby. Opposite the entrance is a bookcase on the wall, having pieces of art, lit up by changing blue and purple lights. The reception has individual, oval desks for check-in. Colorful stripes on the walls and throughout the hotel. Rooms also have modern décor with walls painted of castles and buildings. Bathrooms with tiled floors and black robes, mirrored walls. Amenities - Had wine, mini-fridge, Nespresso coffee machines, and a safe in the room. Free Wi-Fi. They have provided fresh milk in the fridge for yr coffee which is such a welcome change. Everything from the bar having juices, chocolates, some snacks was included. Also, laundry for two items was included in the room We took the package with the breakfast option - they had a buffet with many options including fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, croissants. You can also order from the menu. Service - Friendly and attentive Cons - The claimed king-sized bed wasn't king size at all - was very small. We asked for a change of rooms but they were booked and could not accommodate. The pillows provided were very soft. We asked them to change them the next day and they said they were out of it. On being persistent they brought one firm one to us on the second night. Views - Some of the rooms have city views - we had a corner room with a good view of the Scottish library opposite to the hotel. read more

First off I'm just gonna come out and say I heart this place big style! It's one of the best hotels I've stayed in and I actually felt pretty sad to leave it. 1. The rooms are fly - modern and decorated well with great condiments, special touches like fresh milk for tea and a nespresso machine in room! 2. The showers are super powerful in a wet room! 3. Breakfast is off the charts with a selection from an endless buffet followed by lovely cooked breakfasts - I had 2 days of pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and one of homemade porridge - amazing! 4. Super friendly staff from the bellboys to the breakfast staff! If they ever invent a Yelp 6th star, this is the place to get it! read more

This hotel is the talk of the town. I had girls night out and stayed in one of their suites. The room is colourful, stylish and chic. It gives me the feeling that it feels great to be young. Bathrooms are very clean and they have cool shower heads. They have a free minibar and coffee maker. The staff are excellent. I had breakfast which was quite nice. You can't really beat the location. It's truly refreshing to see something different. This is no ordinary hotel. I felt very relaxed and I could live here. read more

We did not stay in the hotel & only visited the hotel bar, however the bar and decor is superb!! very hip! We were welcomed in by a charming chap in a kilt and got a table easliy. Their is such a nice relaxed atmosphere and an extensive cocktail menu! I was unsure what to have when the waiter asked and so when i described what i like in my cocktail, he said he could make one up for me that he'd think id like!! This is an excellent hotel located just a few blocks down the road from the Edinburgh Castle on the Miracle Mile. Just step out the front door and you are surrounded by eateries, shops, boutiques, architecture and amazing history. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating and the concierges in their kilts are a lovely dose of eye candy. The hotel is delightfully decorated and lovingly appointed. I doubt that you will find anything like it in Scotland. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a once in a life time experience! read more

I haven't stayed at the G&V, so take this review as you will, but I did interact with them as a co-workers' welcome fairy last week and feel it's due for a wee Yelp huzzah. What the heck is a co-worker fairy? Let's set the scene: it's 8am. Your co-workers are all descending on the G&V Hotel later that day and you come barreling in the door with two boxes of welcome gifts. But not just any welcome gifts - these are personalized to each person - because you're a complicated arse when it comes to gift giving. Most places would have rolled their eyes at me when I presenting a dozen personalized old school tin lunch boxes and demanded (nicely) they be set up in each room but not these folks. From the gent who insisted on carrying my boxes in from the taxi to the lovely folks at the front desk who made sure they had all the names right, so the boxes got to the right room - this was a painless, service ninja experience. There's a wee room drop fee of £1.50 per guest, but receiving gleeful messages for the rest of the day as people found their presents? Worth it. It was so darn flawless that I decided to sneak in some little bottles of bubbly into their rooms later that week. Just as easy, plus their door gent helped sneak me out of the lobby when one of my co-workers arrived there earlier than anticipated. Their reviews from the team (as you can see below and above) were a resounding huzzah, making this my new go-to recommendation for folks visiting the city. Poor internet booking, Poor reservation processing. No confirmation given, although requested specifically. No apologies. The room was not ready without the extra bed we had ordered. no extra towel or gowns were given. And when we asked, they gave some used extra towel, that didn't belong to Missoni brand. The Champagn basket was not given until 8pm. The internet was slow. Not enough storage. The barman was rude. The shower fitting was broken, never notified us about the fix until we left. never fixed it. There was no AC in our room, not even mentioned. The noise from the street is loud, dumpster moving at dawn, trash barrels cleaned at 7am. Traffic vibration is horrible throughout day and night. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. The staff hand out the left luggage without verification. (tags, ID) ...The day staff is better than night staff. When the complaint was addressed, the duty manager refused to handle them. Instead, he tried to talk back without processing the issues professionally. I, later, was told by the day staff that, that night duty manager was an self-posed apprentice. ...Returning from the trip, when I called twice to the hotel to talk about this, although the day staff apologized, their manager never returned a call or email back even though I requested for a return call/e-mail to make sure they heard of my complaints. Skip this hotel. They are going downhill fast. Check TA for the negative issues The guests had to deal with. And, please, don't just get fascinated by the style. If you have traveled long and frequently enough, you will know a good hotel business stand up to be responsible for their mistakes and correct them. Not Hotel Missoni. Very nicely (differently) decorated. Opulent. Load of things that glitter and are shiny. On entering the lobby you know you are in a peculiar place that is terribly marmite. The doorman wears a black & white Missoni stripe kilt.. yes. The entrance-hall is not what you expect and at the same time nothing too special in terms of usefulness. to your left the reception for room occupants. in the middle the bar and to the right the stairs to the dining room. I don't need to elaborate on the decoration as that is a given in a Missoni hotel, but a special mention needs to go to the general toilets - Tchakkaa! what a surprise - mirror balls hanging from the ceiling soft lighting and scarlett red tiled like walls and round light bulbs on the mirror (that is just the men's room..) . The bar area is cosy, and the zebra skin benches and chairs are comfortably strewn (is that the word?) with pillows. You pay hotel prices for drinks, but boy what a place to drink'm. We also visited the restaurant upstairs and we were pleased with the quality of the food. Nothing outstanding but perfectly cooked. The service was in the restaurant was impeccable and could not be faulted. They also offered an outside smoking terras / atrium that will be a nice little suntrap in the summer. The few visits here were about decadence and being nosey. There are better places so no 5 stars, but a real favourite nonetheless as it is exclusive and different. read more

Hip, stylish yet quite European... Missoni Hotel is a nice change from other hotels in this category of 5-star elegance. As one would expect from a fashion designer label, this hotel excels at color scheme, patters, decoration, and attention to detail in the construction of the hotel. What I feel sets Missoni Hotel apart from the others is that the atmosphere and vibe is more casual and easy-going. The pretentiousness too often found in other places only shows its face from other travels from time to time. Unlike old-world money hotels in this price range, the Missoni makes you feel young and hip. The staff feel more like helpful friends than servants and the decor won't make you feel like you're in a castle but rather the pages of next season's fashion magazine. read more

I really REALLY wanted to love this hotel. And many thing worked. 90% of the "design" experience is exceptional. The food in the restaurants is outstanding, and the staff (with one important exception) are truly amazing. Only two issues, but for me significant enough that I'll return to The Glasshouse next time in Edinburgh for a week. The rooms are smaller than my closet. Claustrophobic. Very clever design to create accommodate the (lack of space) but barely able to have a open suitcase readily available. OK for a night, possibly two, but not a week. Their menu pricing is absurd. To get the cooked breakfast I want, I have to pay another £13 for a buffet continental break I don't want - even if I order it from room service where I don't even have access to the buffet. The manager (Scott) neither comprehended the stupidity of this, nor cared to understand the dynamics - adding £38 per night to the room rate makes it more expensive that The Glasshouse, which has a far superior breakfast included. Make no mistake about it this is an exceptional hotel. Firstly, the location. Smack bang on the Royal Mile, 5 mins from the castle, 10 mins from the typical high street shops, a couple of minutes from the Garden Market and about a 20min walk to Holyrood. Location wise, if you want to be right in the thick of it - accept no substitutes. The Interior. Well, it was everything that one might expect - colour and pattern and print is everywhere. There was a lot to like but be warned it might not be what you want to see after a heavy night. The room was spacious, elegant well equipped and had everything one might expect from a boutique hotel. Two things worth mentioning is that you have a complimentary minibar that isn't very full or possesses a wide choice. The coffee machine is cool, but tea drinkers are not as well catered for. The free movie system was pretty cool but choice on the system wasn't as great as one might expect. The bathroom was sublime as was the his and hers Missoni dressing gowns. In respect of the gym, its very small and poky and would feel crowded with more than two people working out in it. There is no spa - although they say one is in the process of being construction. The bar and lobby is very loud - so expect a noisy stay. The one blot on the copybook is the restaurant. I was advised before visiting that the restaurant was overpriced and not necessarily of the high standard one might expect. With The Witchery just up the road you would think they would be trying harder on this. After scouring the menu, the wife and I decided to dine out and after speaking to other guests we're glad we did. All of that said, beautiful hotel - I'd definitely stay again. read more

Prosecco on tap! Amazingness. My tip from quite some time ago still stands. You can get prosecco on tap...that's amazing! Imagine having a prosecco tap in your house that was just a fountain of bubbling prosecco 24/7...I mean obviously you'd make no progress in life and you'd be slightly inebriated throughout the day, but it'd still be a cool option to have. Water or prosecco, water or prosecco...hmmm, I think I feel like prosecco with my Special K this morning...boom, the day's got off to a good start! Missoni should install prosecco taps in some of the rooms in the hotel...YES! They would be fully booked until the end of eternity. Right, I'm signing off now, this has gone far enough. Other things I can say that actually, still relate to prosecco...the afternoon teas here are a real treat and worth trying, as there's always a banterful atmosphere within the famously vibrant decor of the bar, and a nice mix of visitors to Edinburgh along with locals who are up for good times. You can pop up to Cucina for some splendid Italian food if you get peckish after all that PROSECCO. Prosecco.......... read more

Probably one of the BEST weekends of my life. My boyfriend has certainly raised the bar for birthday treats! When I found out that one of my favourite design houses was creating a boutique hotel in Edinburgh I couldn't wait for the excuse to go up there to check it out. A year later my boyfriend tries to surprise me with a weekend away for my birthday (he left a tab for Edinburgh airport open on his laptop!) The hotel itself couldn't be situated in a better location. Very convenient for a mix of shopping and sight seeing with the Royal Mile on its doorstep. It's a 5 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverly station which is where the Airlink bus starts and terminates (bargain £6 return) The whole hotel is fabulous with Missoni all over the place, even the doormen wear Missoni kilts! The room we stayed in was jaw dropping chic. Mega comfy bed, fantastic shower, beautiful Missoni bathrobes, complementary drinks and selection of movies on the TV all made chillaxing here for the weekend perfect. We had breakfast included with our room and it's worth it! Go for the Scottish fry up and you'll be set for a days sight seeing. We didn't dine at the hotel as there are so many other places we wanted to try, maybe next time we come up. The hotel bar is uber cool and there's a good selection of cocktails. All the staff were friendly and super helpful (incredibly jealous they wear Missoni everyday!) Edinburgh's a great city and I would have had a fantastic time even if we didn't get to stay at Hotel Missoni but it was definitely the icing, cherry and sprinkles on top of my weekend. read more

Probably my favorite hotel. Despite the small construction site in the reception area this hotels service rooms and location are unbeatable. I really am convinced that while this isn't the cheapest hotel I've ever been to it's still the best hotel experience I've had so far. The Complementary room upgrade including breakfast was just another perk that made this experience more memorable. G&V is the rebranded Missoni Hotel. From what I can see nothing but the name has changed. The staff are still in their kilts and it is still as fluorescent as it ever was. AWESOME! Location, staff, amenities, value and vibe - AWESOME! Scottish hotties in kilts that are beyond kind. Very helpful and amiable. Man and I booked a double room with one floor-to-ceiling window that faced Edinburg Library and the cobbled street of Johnstown terrace. Mod room with a historically charming view. Gorgeous interiors with heavily Italian-designed influence. Obviously. Lots of colorfully bold zigs and zags and exquisite tiles, rugs and oversized vases (Taller than me). Hands-down the Comfiest hotel bed at any hotel stay EVER. The bath Shower - Ah-MAY-zing. Double rain head. Posh. God did I need that after coming from so far across the pond. Extremely clean and right space for 2 with steamer trunks. (Kidding, but might need one on way home). Complimentary laundry up to 2 pieces each p/ person daily. Bar/restaurant looked fab but we wanted to stretch out. Located right off the Royal mile where we spent most of our time. On the pricier side but worth it, especially for the first leg of a long trip. We booked out a month and got a great deal via booking.com. Will be back and will stay here again. The Hotel Missoni is written up in every single magazine and website as the place to stay in Edinburgh. The location is awesome. It's very central to everything in the old town. You can walk to everything which is great if you're only in Edinburgh for a short stay. The front desk and the bellman are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well appointed and Missoni'd out from the towels, robe and bedding. We stayed in a standard room which was fine for the weekend. The bathroom was colourful and functional with a shower a sink. The closet was a small, but ok for the short stay. They have nespresso machines in the room which is always a plus. Would I go back? Yes, because all around it's a good hotel in a very good location. read more

It was so exciting when this hotel was getting built in such a good location. The fashion brand has put it's iconic pattern on nearly everything with sexy staff uniforms to match. Everything's luxurious and expensive feeling and really is the new, hip place to sleep while staying in the country's capital. And unlike most hotel bars, this ones an entity in itself. read more

It adds a strong touch of class and elegance to the city (not that it needed any more) and just brings total indulgence to it. It is really quite trendy - wear your good tights when you come here. I didn't stay at the hotel so I can't comment on that, but I did come here for afternoon tea with my sister. It's one of the pricier options for afternoon tea in Edinburgh but I'd say it's worth the price. The pastries, scones, and sandwiches were all delicious and my only vice is that the portions are too small. But that's to be expected of all afternoon tea spreads. And plus, let's be real, it's the Missoni. Everyone knows that people in fashion don't eat. The atmosphere is trendy. If the name doesn't clue you in that Missoni operates this hotel, the decor certainly does. I had really friendly and attentive service when I was here and was very happy. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone else interested. read more

Couldn't ask for anything more than this luxury hotel located on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. I had read some hit or miss things about the hotel before selecting it beforehand -- it's not for everyone. The design is highly modern and sexy but very understatedly so from the outside and lobby area. The design of the restaurant and bedrooms however is daring: bright colors and choices that push a design edge not often found in most hotels. Lucked out and got the Beasley suite. It was ridiculously big with 1.5 bathrooms, a living room, a king bed and heated floors in the main bathroom. The views out over the Royal Mile and Edinburgh were unparalleled. They allowed us to have our room by 11:30am on the day of check-in, which was another wonderful stroke of luck since we'd arrived at 8am and were highly jet lagged. One great thing about the suite -- they give you complimentary private transportation from the airport, as well as complimentary products in the minibar. Water? Sure. Wine? Go ahead. Innis and Gunn beer? Great. Breakfast is included as well. It's too much food for one person. When you stuff yourself silly and then decide to climb the Craggs for two hours, you'll be regretting every moment you spent at the breakfast bar combing through the cheese and pastries. Staff are amazingly helpful. Hotel room design is exceptionally fabulous. Handsome men wearing kilts help you with luggage. Shower heads/bathroom products are fantastic. Need I say more? We booked this hotel for our honeymoon stay in Edinburgh and they welcomed us with a blueberry tart and a lovely card on our table. The snacks and drinks in the mini bar are covered in your hotel fee and you get 10 items of laundry to wash during your stay. Pretty neat perks. They also gave us a room with a GREAT view b/c we wrote in and told them this was our honeymoon. Cleaning service is super efficient. Seemed like every time we left our room to do something, it'd be immediately cleaned, towels replaced, etc. right when we got back. Even if we were only out for an hour or so. Also, this location is in the center of everything. A short walk from most landmarks like the Edinburgh Castle, Princess Street Gardens, Calton Hill, Grey Friar's Kirk, The Elephant House (for all your Harry Potter fans out there), the Royal Mile, St. Giles Cathedral, and more! read more

Great hotel right on the Royal Mile. Rooms are very modern and chic, yet functional. Loved the free (non-alcoholic) mini bar in the rooms, US/UK power adapter, free wifi, and comfy king bed. Free dry cleaning for 2 items/day, additional items not unreasonably priced. Service was prompt and efficient. Location, fabulous. Did not try the bar nor restaurant here but truly enjoyed the stay and would not hesitate to book again. read more

The home of a not bad bar with an extensive cocktail list. The decor would be at home in any upper end bar in the world. It's a pity that for a bar surrounded by some iconic establishments, that they couldn't of attempted to reflect some of the hundreds of years of history around it. I had a great experience with Hotel Missoni. It was unlike anywhere I had stayed before - extremely modern in every way. Some people referred to it as having an Austin Powers feel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because you have to pay for wifi. Our bed and breakfasts across the country had free wifi and for paying that much more, we felt it should have been complimentary. Fabulous hotel. Very contemporary and modern. Clean rooms with rain shower. Service has been excellent. 2 pieces of free laundry for each nights stay and a complimentary minibar stocked with juice and soft drinks. Right next to Royal Mile with great restaurants, pubs, shopping, and sites nearby. Wouldnt recommend the breakfast in the hotel reataurant which is mediocre and overpriced. read more
