One thing I've realized about London is that businesses located above street-level businesses often…read moretend to be nicer than those on street-level or worse, below street-level. As is the case with the Massage Centre. Booking was easy. I popped in one day and was able to get an appointment soon - the next day if I wanted. The space is clean and relaxing unlike other spas in the area (South Beach, Luminis (fka Dove Spa)) where the spa is loud and hectic and, god for bid, the therapy rooms are located below street-level and the constant creaking of floor boards completely ruins any therapy you are paying your hard earned cash for. My therapist was knowledgeable, used appropriate pressure, and provided me with stretching techniques to help reduce the stiffness and tension in my upper back. So, all of this was great. The other great thing about my therapist was that she did not pressure me to book massages every two weeks or even every month. She had a brain on her shoulders and understands how expensive a two-week massage regimen wold be. I mean, wouldn't we all get massages every two weeks if we could afford it? I bet Kim Kardashian gets a massage daily but you know what? I'm not Kim Kardashian. I'm just a normal person with bad posture from banging away on the computer writing Yelp reviews all damn day. Nothing ruins a relaxing experience more than being made to feel bad about not treating your body awesomely by getting massages every two weeks. And I'm happy to report that no one at TMC made me feel bad about not getting a massage every two weeks. So, thanks, TMC!

He first checked to make sure that I hadn't thrown anything major and then proceeded to undo all the tension in my lower back, allowing me to be able to stand like a man not a penguin. Great staff and I felt very well cared for while in a very vulnerable position.

My first visit I was late - I had allowed plenty of time (I have been 20 minutes early every time since, leaving the same amount of time every occasion). When I called to let them know, the woman on the phone was rude and snippy, and told me that my therapist was fully booked and might not be able to see me. Okay, my fault, but no need to be like that. In the end, I was 10 minutes late and so my 20 minute appointment was cut in half. He just gave me some stretches to do and did a quick questionnaire with me. 2nd and 3rd visits both involved my bad foot having some ultrasound therapy, and both appointments were the full 20 minutes even though the therapist was running late - 10-15 minutes - both times. The 3rd visit also featured a medical student, who wasn't very bright but to be honest, it's not hard to do the ultrasound treatment once someone else sets the machine. Today my 20 minute appointment lasted 15, and was just the physio giving me some different exercises to do, and a print out of them. What a waste of my time. I have one more appointment to come and I don't really see the point. I think the problem is that I was referred as an NHS patient, so I get 5 appointments on NHS and then they send me back to the GP. Because I'm not paying, I definitely feel I'm not getting the same level of service as their private clients. Oh well, NHS for the win, I guess. The physio does seem to know what he's talking about and is a very nice, courteous man.

Well maybe some of us GIRLS may not NEED to lift heavy but we WANT to lift heavy, and this kind of mentality is not what a physiotherapist should have. What makes it worse is that this was a female physiotherapist telling me this.
