In the morning rush 80% all of the seats will already be taken so if you get on here expect to stand. One annoying issue with this stop is how far apart the platforms for crossing are and they are perfectly spaced so when the Train pulls in, it parks right over it! So you have to walk across the uneven tracks and still at that point if you are going Inbound to Boston you will have to wait until the train stops to desperately run to the front entrance. I've had several situations where I see the train is approaching but I can't run to the front of the train fast enough to get on!

There is a trash can on the inbound/Boston side, but no trash can on the outbound side. If it's your first time here, give yourself some extra time so you don't end up on the wrong side. Right now the staircase is closed. So if you are on the wrong side of the track, it will take you an extra 5 mins to get on the bridge overpass to get to the right platform. Be careful when you get on and get off the train, the platform/train is tilted so watch your step as always.

The station is primarily built out of bricks, glass, concrete and stainless steel to compliment an aesthetically pleasing waiting experience. Alongside the structures materials, the station features displays of artwork in the atrium nearby the fare gates. The platform itself is an island platform with most of the waiting area covered by the overhang that is part of the station. There is plenty of seating space on the platform and during a rainy day the platform overhang keeps you dry. The end of the station features an amazing view of the trains rolling down the tracks towards the station. Definitely my most favorite part of this station is the end of the platform. Overall Roxbury Crossing Orange Line station is a great station. One of my personal favorites!

There are a few employers right nearby so it makes it easy for the commuters to get out of the city. In to Boston, this a "flag" stop. You need to be sure that the train driver can see you because if he can't, the train just sails on past. There are no automated ticketing machines here and the station is almost completely exposed to the elements. There is also no platform on the other side - the one side of the station serves both inbound and outbound passengers. There is not much nearby here at all and there is no MBTA parking. It is in "Zone 1A", the cheapest of the commuter rail zones.

Extending the Red Line by 2.5 miles, the "M" Line is a streetcar/trolley that runs from Ashmont,…read morewhere it connects to the Red Line, to Mattapan, where there is a small loop and the trolleys cycle back to Ashmont. The full run takes about 9 minutes from end to end and stops through a handful of small stations. The line runs on PCC Streetcar stock, which was previously used by the Green Line. The cars were built by Pullman-Standard in 1945-1946 and have been in continuous service in Boston since their construction although they were rebuilt a couple of times since then. The cars are the very definition of "cute." There is seating and straps. All stations except Valley Road have been retrofitted with lifts or wheelchair ramps. All stations are above ground and have minimal services but still better than the outer stops of the Green Line. There are markings, some cover from the elements and announcements of the next train in either direction. If you are boarding at Ashmont, the transfer from the Red Line is free. As is the transfer from the M Line to the Red Line. If you're boarding the M Line from any other station, there is the usual fare.

Take the Red Line to the end of the Ashmont line and hop on the vintage orange trolleys on a short ride over to Mattapan. Unlike other trains, the trolley stops at request at the various stations along the way.

But if it were colder or wetter or a longer wait, it would have sucked in a big way. Orient Heights is a station on the Blue line between Wood Island and Suffolk downs.

The train is always on time heading both inbound/outbound, and it usually stands put about 20 minutes before departure so there is plenty of time to board and relax.
