The rail here is single track, so they have two platforms at different ends of the station area. There is no kiosk for purchasing tickets but you can buy on board. They do have a board with the next train time on it and there are some waiting areas with the train schedule posted. There is parking and access to the boarding ramps is handicapped accessible.

The station is handicapped accessible and they have audible and visual announcements of the next train in both directions. There are machines for topping off your Charlie Card or purchasing a Charlie Ticket. You will need to board the train at the door next to a driver so that you can swipe your form of payment. Newton Centre is located next to some dining and such. No idea about parking. It is on the "D" Branch of the Green Line between Newton Highlands (outbound) and Chestnut Hill (inbound).

Amtrak recommends arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled train and it was my first time using…read moreAmtrak, and my first time to Route 128 Station. Exit the highway, drive past the parking garage and turn left onto Blue Hill Drive, and take the left on in where it says "Amtrak/MBTA Pick-up & Drop off". Either entrance at the end will work. While the left side is more direct and closer to the Amtrak counter, the right side will take you past the Dunkin Donuts. There's a waiting area, the bathrooms are by the elevator, and only two tracks. 1 is outbound, and 2 heads into Boston. Simple. Start heading out when they announce that your train is arriving, about 8 min in advance. Head towards the right if you are Coach bound. Take a seat and the conductor will scan your ticket code and tuck a paper ticket above you. Take it with you if you change seats. If you go past NYC, the crew changes, and every passenger gets scanned again. If you are ADA and need access to one of their accessible seats, there's a way to mention it when buying your ticket, so the conductor will save you a seat in advance. Two bathrooms are available at one end of the Coach car. If the light is on, the bathroom is taken and the door locked. These are roomier than those on airplanes. So are the seats, although they otherwise resemble those found in planes with the tables that fold down and seats that recline back. 120 volt plugs are available, but no screens and no headset jacks, so no music. Stops are announced, so it felt that communication was pretty good on the train and at the station. Coming back and arriving on track 2, we had to exit and head up and over the tracks, where we could go straight into the garage, or take the escalator down by Dunkin Donuts. There's an elevator as well, which will take you to the bathrooms.

First stop along the Needham Line commuter rail heading inbound, Needham Heights serves as a major…read moretransit hub. This station is located outside with handicap accessible tracks. There is a few parking spots, and it is located next to the town common with Starbucks, CVS, and a few restaurants nearby. The train is always on time heading both inbound/outbound, and it usually stands put about 20 minutes before departure so there is plenty of time to board and relax.

I enjoy taking public transportation to get me to work, explore new places, see…read morefriends etc... and I have taken the commuter rail starting from this origin station countless of times. Unfortunately, this is not my favorite station and I will explain why. While this station is located conveniently in the heart of Wellesley, navigating through the station itself can get very confusing. First and foremost, the two platforms can be hard to get to, and it's very hard to tell where you should be. There is a fence in the middle that prevents you from crossing the track, meaning you have to go up the massive flight of stairs and cross the overhead bridge to get to the other platform. This is not handicap accessible by any means, and means that if you mess up which train you need to be at, you're essentially cooked. Additionally, there is an inbound/outbound platform on each side, but the train often switches tracks without proper notification, so it's hard to tell where to be. For instance, in the morning I'll want to go to Worcester and will go on the outbound platform. However, in the evening I'll want South Station, and this train going inbound will arrive on the outbound platform. Everyone is confused and the signs just say "Track 1" or "Track 2". The track 2 sign is posted on the bridge, but on the side of the inbound platform, so it's hard to tell which track is which - I still couldn't tell you. Additionally, I've sometimes noticed that in the mornings there are bats that resunder this bridge, so it's pretty uncomfortable having to walk to the platform under the bridge.

Close to the center of Wellesley, Wellesley Square is a below grade station. There are two…read more medium-sized parking lots, one on each side of the tracks for a total of 224 spaces. A small glass booth exists as a waiting area for inbound. I did not see one for outbound trains. The station does have some handicapped accessibility but the website mentions "significant accessibility barriers." I did not see any wheelchair ramps for getting onto or off the trains. Located on the Framingham/Worcester line, Wellesley Square is between Natick Center (outbound) and Wellesley Hills (inbound). It is in Zone 3. The station is below grade and features a small parking lot of 70 or so spaces, operated by the City of Natick. The station is not handicapped accessible with significant accessibility barriers. It is located in Zone 4 of the MBTA system and at the moment, a one-way fare between here and South Station is $8.25. Natick Center is on the Framingham/Worcester Line, between Wellesley Square (inbound) and West Natick (outbound). It is about an hour from South Station to here.
