It included an excellent lesson (shout out to my instructor Jason), decent rentals (notably the boots were nice and warm), and access to 2 easy slopes and a lift with 2 green slopes for practice. Once you scan the lift ticket, it's active for 4 hours which is plenty of time to get some skiing in. If you're new to this and want to get good, plan on taking more than one lesson. Not sure if it helps but I'll share my progression over one full day of skiing: It'd been 20 years since I skied, so I joined the morning lesson with the first timers and could ski down the bunny slopes comfortably by the end. I took another lesson the same day and was skiing down the green trails without any issues, although not the most efficiently (skis mostly but not always parallel). The facilities were clean and with everything you might need, hot food, drinks, a store, bonfires, wifi, a decent amount of locker space, and a very large area for rentals. It felt very safe, and everyone I interacted with was friendly. Parking wasn't an issue either. Overall, I enjoyed the lessons and my experience skiing at Wachusett, and I'd definitely go again!

We took one lift and the snow conditions were terrible. They were making snow late in the season and there were mounds in the middle of the trails with countless people falling. Customer service promised us comped tickets for next time we returned. I emailed a man named Chris Stimpson. He confirmed the 8 lift tickets to be comped on our next visit. When we reached out the next season to receive the tickets Chris told us they would not be honored despite sharing the emails. We will not return to Wachusett after this experience and being promised something via email and then not following through

Fortunately, in the absence of clear-cut criteria for that "five star" place, I have the Maguire House to use as a benchmark. When you drive up Cobb Road in the small town of Ashburnham, MA to be greeted by a bounding golden retriever, it's immediately clear that this B&B is a little bit different. For one thing, it's not there out of convenience to a touristy area: when you visit the Maguire House, you are doing it on purpose. This is a huge advantage if you're looking for some true R&R, and Terry provides enough fresh-baked treats to be content barely leaving the 18th-century oasis of her home. Between the beautifully curated collection of antique furniture, the lush goose down comforters, claw-footed bathtubs and innumerable extra touches (the towels, for example, are all perfectly coordinated with bedroom color schemes), it would be understandable if you never went outside here. When my husband and I didn't feel like cross-country skiing last winter, a fire and complimentary glass of wine made this an appealing option. But during a recent June stay, we were scarcely in our room: the view is magnificent and I spent hours watching wild turkeys, woodpeckers and cardinals go about their daily routines. When it was time for a little more action, we took a rowboat out on the lake at the brink of the property. The water was peaceful and perfectly safe, but Abby (the golden retriever) kept watch over us just in case. It should come as no surprise that we will be going back to the Maguire House, though probably not in time to sate my craving for Terry's lemon-blueberry scones. It is a place to bring friends, or a book, or your weekday stress, and lose it in the tranquility that connects New England's past with your future getaways.

We found a pair of women's under garments left in a corner and both the tub was dusty and the fridge had syrup and bugs in it. Several surfaces in our room were dusty. I let the owner know, but did not receive a response. My biggest complaint, however is that they decided not to serve breakfast without telling us. I happened to inquire as to the time frame for breakfast at 8pm and was told that because she and her husband were in their 70's they didn't want to interact with guests. It was a little late at that point for me to make other arrangements for breakfast and to be able to stay until check out to enjoy the room the next morning. It would have been very easy for them to provide individual breakfast items to the rooms as other Inns are doing during this time. I did see and speak with the husband in the morning providing breakfast for the horses so I know they were not ill themselves. There was no excuse to not provide breakfast and especially not to let us know. I would expect more from an Inn of this caliber.

The owners (an adorable old couple) are incredibly sweet, and will let you wash your mouth with anything. The food is terrific and the service second to none. But be aware: the refrigerator looks like a pantry, and the pantry looks like another room. One final word of advice: the "dog" is awesome, but I think he may actually be an unregistered horse of some kind. Also: don't forget to have your parking validated (not the cost of it... just ask them to reassure you that "you did a good job").

They both had close friends scattered across the world. They hosted a weekend-long event here & asked for no gifts from attendees. It was exactly what they were looking for. A big barbeque was held the night before the wedding. Families stayed in a variety of cabins & lots of activities were available for children & adults. By the time the wedding rolled around, visitors from everywhere knew each other pretty well & bride & groom got to spend quality with relatives & friends. It was the perfect location. Over the years, many renovations have been made & the Woodbound Inn is even better!

We opened with adult beverages, all of them having colonial sounding names. Must say my Manhattan was delicious! After reviewing menu, I decided to start with the New England clam chowder and my wife ordered their chicken quesadilla. I followed up with ordering their Cobb salad but requested the chicken be blackened. The chowder came out relatively quickly and was indeed delicious! Her meals came out fairly quickly thereafter. My wife noted that her chicken quesadilla is probably the best that she had ever had. Being born and raised in Southern California I take that as a magnificent compliment. My Cobb salad was delicious as they had several tasty ingredients and my chicken was blackened! It was delicious! We decided to splurge for a dessert, Boston cream pie. It was a trifecta, all delicious!
