Years ago, I broke the key on the Key Fob to my 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. I was only given the one key fob when I purchased my car in 2018. I never used the key because I have push to start so it wasn't an issue until recently when I dropped my fob and it fell apart. I initially called AutoNation and was told that since I didn't have the key, I would have to purchase 2 key fobs at the price of over $600.00 and that didn't include cutting or reprogramming. I was told that I could purchase a key fob on Amazon for around $40 and have the key cut and the fob reprogrammed. So, I decided to go that route. The first place I called said they had the key fob I needed for my car and would charge me $130 and could come out the next day to complete the job. They texted me the next morning and asked if I still needed their services and I told them I did. He then proceeded to say the person I spoke to yesterday had quoted me the wrong price and that it would Actually be $180.00. He said since I was initially quoted the lower price they would honor it. When the guy arrived he took my key fob to his van and came back and said he didn't have it after telling me the day before he did. He said he would have to order it and would have it the next day and it would be, you guessed it, $180.00! How convenient. So, I told him I wouldn't need his services. A friend told me about Waco Lock & Key, I called and made an appointment. My son took my car to them because I had to work. They were very professional and friendly. My son left with not only 1 key fob but 2 (they fixed my old one) for the Exact price they quoted and it was lower than Both of the initial quotes. The next day I called them because I was trying to use the key (that I had Never used before) and I was having trouble getting the door unlocked. They said that they made sure the key and fob were working and I could bring it to them after work and they would recheck it. They also sent me a video on how to unlock my car and it turns out I was doing it incorrectly and it did indeed work. I got a key that just opens the door (just in case of a lock out) since I didn't bring that vehicle & copy of the key without the alarm for the vehicle I did brinPrices & options are competitive compared dealerships in the area.
