Wade Heating & Cooling used to be professional and dependable. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Wade installed my HVAC system in 2011, and for years I've paid $270 annually for their "Comfort Club" service. June 25, 2025: A power surge caused my HVAC system to stop working. I called Wade to diagnose and repair. June 27: Technician Brian diagnosed a damaged motherboard and possibly a damaged thermostat. He said the repair would include replacing the motherboard, transformer, and maybe the thermostat. He said Wade would call on the 30th to provide an estimate and schedule the repair. June 30: Wade didn't call by noon, so I called. They said the repair would cost $1,000+, but no written estimate was provided. They scheduled the job for July 3. July 3: Technician Nick replaced the motherboard and transformer. He said the thermostat wasn't working, & it wasn't on the work order. He returned with a used Infinity thermostat and installed it. I paid $1,415 but received no invoice or receipt at the time. July 4: The thermostat's outdoor sensor incorrectly read 70°F when it was 85°F. The office told me it didn't matter--the sensor was only used to keep the system from running below 55°F. July 6: The thermostat displayed "SENS ERROR. SYSTEM MALFUNCTION CALL TECHNICIAN." Technician Dalton diagnosed a faulty outdoor sensor and said the sensor is, in fact, vital to the Infinity system's function. He put in a work order and said Wade would call to schedule. July 7: Four days after my 7/3 payment, I received the receipt. The Description of Work read, "Replaced transformer board and infinity control. System is operating properly at this time. Task "MISC 1" Description "Please add a description of work to be completed." Qty "1.00" Price "$1,415.00" Total "$1,415.00." July 8: Wade didn't call by 3pm, so I called. A woman said she would check on the sensor order status and would call back "in a few minutes." She never did. July 9: Wade didn't call by 10:45am, so I called. She said they'd "hopefully" come this week and asked for my availability--I told her anytime. At 11:30am, Sherry from Wade called and scheduled an appointment for July 10, 12-4pm. I asked her to confirm there would be no charge. She said she'd check and call me back. She didn't. July 10: Wade's technician Nick replaced the sensor. July 17: The thermostat again displayed "SENS ERROR. SYSTEM MALFUNCTION CALL TECHNICIAN." I called Wade. They created a work order and said someone would come that day or the next and would call first. No one came or called either day. July 19: Since Wade failed to call or show on the 17th or 18th, I called. They scheduled me for Monday, July 21, 12-4pm. July 21: Wade didn't arrive by 4:45pm. I called and spoke to dispatch at 4:45 and again at 5:50. As of 9:45pm, no one showed up. July 22: I called Wade at 8:15am. The woman said I was on yesterday's schedule but that it was accidentally canceled by Wade. She put me on the schedule for 12-4pm. Nick replaced the Infinity thermostat again and said the problem should be resolved. July 25: The thermostat displayed "SENS ERROR. SYSTEM MALFUNCTION CALL TECHNICIAN." I called Wade. Technician Nick said the problem is the thermostat. He removed the Infinity thermostat and replaced it with a very basic Braeburn thermostat and said I will have to purchase a replacement Infinity thermostat if I want its features. He would not leave the Infinity thermostat that he removed saying it could help someone else "in a pinch." I thought it was broken??? July 28: Wade said their 6/30 estimate was incomplete & that I have to pay them $1,587 more to have a fully functional HVAC system with an Infinity thermostat. They removed my Infinity thermostat and replaced it with a basic Braeburn. July 29: Wade said they would refund the $1,415 and reinstall the old Infinity thermostat with no guarantee that it would work. read more

Furnace, ac and thermostat installed Oct. 2025. Called Wade today at 7:45 am; thermostat not working. Cold air blowing while I have thermostat set on "Heat." Call center first told me it would cost $146.95 to come out on weekend....until I repeatedly told him this work is only 4 1/2 months old. He told me that this would be entered as an "emergency" and that someone would come out between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm and that the serviceman would call 15 minutes to half an hour before arrival. It is now 3:00 pm and I've since called 3 additional times and was rudely told each time that the person is on another job and that it must be taking more time than anticipated. They will not try contacting him/her for an update on arrival and that I must be patient until they call me. I don't believe Wade Heating ever acted on this in good faith because they wouldn't be able to charge the service fee hence they would not be making any money off this. Still waiting for the "call." Either the serviceman decided not to interrupt his Sunday pleasure or Wade isn't willing to pay him/her weekend rates hence....I'm still waiting to have my thermostat and/ or furnace to be repaired. Beyond frustrated...this began 13April of 2025. Our unit was blowing cool air. So Wade came out and said we needed a new heat pump, so we bought one. $10500 apprx. A tech was sent out again 6/25/25, 6/30, 7/2,7/3. In July, they said we needed a new thermostat, so we got that. If you see my previous review, you'll see that the tech said he would come back, left the thermostat hanging and never returned. I was too frustrated to have them come back out after them not returning my phone calls and never returning anyway. And you can see from their response to my original Google review that they didn't even bother reading it. This new system is loud, rumbles through the attic and we can hear the heat pump outside kick on any time it comes on. The below freezing temps hit us end of January. We again noticed that the system was blowing out cool air. So, we called the emergency line and left a message. The next day, I submitted an online request for service, and then finally had to call that Monday morning to speak to someone, because no one had responded. A tech was sent out Tue, 1/27, 1/28. We shut the system off, have heavy curtains hanging between doorways, we have electric heaters going, and have burned through so much firewood, to keep the downstairs remotely bearable, with temps ranging between 55-65 degrees; outdoor temps dipping into the negative double digits. I let them know again on 1/30 that we still did not have heat downstairs. February 2, another tech was sent out; 2/5-three men arrived Three!. I was told we need even more vents (holes in the ceiling, there are now 15 holes in the ceiling, 10 of which are in the living spaces). The vents are insanely loud and remind me of sitting in an office building and hearing the hvac systems come on. I let them know AGAIN, 2/5, that it is still blowing cool air, and again on 2/8 I told them. The tech said we can run the system to get air circulating; the fan never shuts off. Tuesday, 2/10, 3 techs arrived-when one mentioned needing more vents again, I asked why, he couldn't tell me so he went to call his boss. I spoke to his boss for 11 min and he explained the why and admitted fault when they initially installed the heat pump back in April, so I agreed to let the crew come back in. After 52 minutes, they were still sitting in their vans in our driveway, so I called back-he had never told them to come back inside to do the job. The crew returned to finish yesterday, 2/11. We have a new thermostat. The crew left around 2 yesterday afternoon, having set the new thermostat at 70. The temp inside was then 64. I left to run errands, returning around 4, the temp dropped to 62! So I called again, and left 2 messages, no response. By 4:42, with the heaters plugged back in, it had risen to 65, with the outside temps of a "feels" like 19. I checked again at 7:27, the thermostat displayed a warning that the auxiliary heat had been running too long, and on for 3+hours (time stamp 6:02), inside temp was 62 degrees. After dinner and clean up yesterday, we went upstairs with the downstairs at 61. When going downstairs this morning, there were more notifications on the thermostat-aux heat running too long, 3+hours @12:17a, and "problem with the furnace/boiler heating..., rom temperature decreased by 3 degrees" @11:48p. The interior temperature was 65 @ 06:52 this morning. I have been trying to get a hold of someone at Wade since 0800 this morning. No one has called me back. It is currently 65 degrees in our dining room. This is so far beyond unacceptable. The original problem still has not been fixed-out system is blowing cool air. Do not use them. There are very few businesses that I would ever rate superior. Wade HVAC is one. Just did an entire HVAC replacement with a new Lenox system. From first call, to last paperwork it was superior service, friendliness, presentation, and work. It has been my experience that this level of performance is no accident. It's fostered from the top. Wade tried to make a quick buck off of a cancer patient (me). A guy named Dylan told me that my unit was leaking fluid and that it used Freon, which is no longer available. I was sure that my unit used Freon. According to Dylan, the only alternative was to spend $5,000 on a new air conditioner And had his buddy call to arrange the sale. I had an attack of cancer pain and did not call back. When my son came home from work, he said that "freon" was written on the unit. Run, don't walk, away from this unethical company. read more

My furnace was acting up i called they came out and tried to fix it it work for a month then same problem happened instead of trying to fix it again they told me I need a new furnace and a/c unit. They wanted 11000 dollars for it so I got a second option. All the problem was that the blower fan was loose and heat coil bad Wade already replace old on with new one. It broke and they won't honor the warranty on the coil pack. read more

The technician from Wade arrived at my home within two hours of me calling for service. He replaced the capacitor, which had been damaged by a snake being on it, and also alerted me to the fried snake near the air conditioning unit. I have used Wade Heating & Cooling twice, once for a furnace repair and more recently, for an A/C repair. The most recent repair proved that they are still honest, professional and convenient. With so many horror stories out there about companies with flashy trucks and prominent billboard ads, its nice to know that Wade is the real deal and that you can trust them. First, when I called, a human answered the phone and helped me. No voicemails, no phone system, no run around. I called in the morning, and was promised that someone would get to me that day. They did not schedule a specific time or a block of time, but rather promised to call 20 minutes ahead of arrival. Hey! A company that values and respects my time. Awesome! They called later that afternoon (I was able to go to work and just leave when needed. So convenient.) and gave me an arrival time. The technician called to let me know he was running late (HUGE thunderstorm and he was only 2 minutes late. Again, respectful of my time and good communication). The technician was clean, friendly and professional. Sounds weird to have to point that out, but that has not been my experience with other companies. Most importantly, he took the time to properly diagnose the problem, explained what was going on and quoted me the cost, and then charged me what he quoted me. CHARGED ME WHAT HE QUOTED ME. Again, seems odd that I was surprised by that, but other companies invent all kinds of other things to add to your bill and put pressure on you for things you don't need. Air conditioner went out on me. I called Wade around 8pm and they had a technician on site less than 12 hours later which was great. He was knowledgeable and fixed my problem in about 20 minutes. The reason for the three stars is he charged me $167 for at $30 part. This was on top of the service fee for them to come look at the unit. I get putting a mark up on parts but over five times the cost is excessive! I would call someone else next time I have an issue. read more

I had Wade Heating and Cooling come out to take a look at my central A/C unit to see if they could get it running. The person who answered the phone and scheduled my appointment was very pleasant to deal with. They had a technician on-site the next day. He was very helpful and seemed fairly honest. I have an older UNIT and assumed it would simply need to be replaced. To my surprise, the technician was able to get the unit running and took the time to do a general inspection of the system. He did say that we should probably budget to replace the unit next summer. What I really liked about the situation over-all is that this guy could have come in and said "eh, you should replace this unit. Oh, by the way, we sell units." Instead of doing that he got our current unit running for a fair price, explained that the repair should get us through the summer, and recommended that we save some cash to replace it next summer. It was a very honest assessment, I will certainly call Wade again when I am ready to replace my system. read more

I spoke with Wade Heating & Cooling at the PGH Home show. I was only interested in a Carrier System. From the first person I spoke with, I was impressed. Lonnie came and give us an estimate and was again impressed with his knowledge. He noticed a few things that were wrong. His bid was the cheapest of the 3 estimates I received. I had a competitor come to do a tune up on my furnace and was informed that the furnace is 21 years old and he heat exchanger was going to last me maybe one more season. Okay, not news that anyone wants to hear, but it is reality. I did some shopping around for businesses that carry my current brand of furnace. I emailed Wade Heating and Cooling on the weekend and received a call back on Monday. The gentleman was extremely pleasant, offered me a quote, which of course is an estimate and things may change, but was very understanding and explained the differences between two furnaces that may be best suited for our home. I have to say that I was honest and upfront with him about shopping around and once he quoted me, it was spot on with another local supplier. You want to talk about knowledgeable and professional. This place is simply marvelous and I wish they were closer to me so I could provide them with business. I am on the outskirts of their servicing area and they understand that consumers prefer as close to home as possible for those unforeseen circumstances that arise. Called for an estimate on a new AC unit. Knew that the motor was broken and wanted pricing for repair of motor vs a whole new unit. Receptionist I spoke with on the phone said that the she could send a tech out sometime during a 4 hour window. The tech was supposed to call 30 minutes in advance, and didn't show up until an hour later. Once he arrived at my house he looked at the motor and went outside to make a call to see how much a new motor would cost, that took 15 mins and he came back with no result as he could not get a hold of anyone. Another 20 mins of taking measurements for a new unit to get me an estimate. And I was charged with a $99.95 service fee! After paying the fee, I was confused and unsure of why I had just paid for a "free estimate". I called the company back and the same receptionist, Linda, explained to me that having a tech come out is considered a "service" and I must pay for said service. When scheduling the appointment, no fee was ever discussed and had I known this I could have waited for someone who was not a tech to come out and give me a bid. After Linda got nasty with me on the phone I asked to speak to a manager and Steve did call me back in a timely fashion and apologized for the miscommunication and said I would be refunded my money, which was great...however I never received my estimate for a new unit and when I called a few days later (with no AC in July) to ask when I could expect to get the estimate, Linda was very nasty on the phone with me again and said that since the company refunded my money they were no longer interested in providing me with a bid and I could take my business elsewhere...so I will! read more
