Best fried catfish in the delta!
    Theresa R.

This is a cozy, quaint catfish house in the heart of the Mississippi delta. Food is absolutely delicious, hot and fresh! Family style dining with a touch of southern hospitality. We love Wade's Place!

Grilled shrimp (I had already ate a few), fries and turnip greens.

I have to start this review off with an apology to my wife. Let me explain. We're on a road trip…read moredriving our oldest sons car to Boston, and stopping at unique places to dine in along the way. Well when we pulled up to this joint UNIQUE was not the word I had in mind. All I could think of was......"what the @*#% was my wife thinking when she picked this place!!!!" When we departed this joint all I could think of was the old adage.....LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING!!!......along with multiple apologies to my wife LOL!!! Now on with the review. Now read the next line in your best valley girl voice. OH MY GAWD THE FOOD HERE IS SO GOOD I'M BLOWN AWAY!!! I had the small BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich as did my wife. I had the Baked Beans as a side and she had the Onion Rings. Both sides were delicious with the Rings being cooked and battered perfectly, and the Baked Beans were NOT straight out the can like most dive BBQ Shacks. Grandma put some stank on dim dare beans y'all!!!! Yes'n deed y'all!!!!! I'm tryna told y'all sum'n sum'n and ya ain't tryna heard me!!!! Yep I'm tryna get y'all ready for the pièce de ré·sis·tance. That Pulled Pork sandwich is DA TRUPH!!!! Yes I said TRUPH and not the correct pronunciation....TRUTH. For y'all who don't know TRUPH is truer than truth!!! LOL!!!! That sandwich.....that sandwich y'all!! It was so good I now know what I'm gonna do when I retire whether my wife likes it or not. I'm gonna buy a RV and park right across the street from this joint and eat here EVERY DAY!!! I haven't had a Pulled Pork sandwich like that since I was a kid spending summers in Alexandria Louisiana with kin folk. We used to get BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches from this corner store near my grandmothers house. I always had to have two cuz I loved them so much. Today I wanted another but before I could verbalize my desires my wife gave me the side eye. Y'all know I been hit'n the gym hard to stay sexy for my Honey Bunnie, but on this day I was like bump dat!!!! Then again her side eye was quite menacing so I digressed and begrudgingly sat silent in my yearnings for another delicious BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich!!!!! Please don't make the same mistake I made by judging a book by the cover. This place is DEFINITELY A MUST TRY!!!

I miss Ms Bar B Que! The best sandwiches! Tasty. Priced well (cash only). Locally owned.read more

Lets face it, Philadelphia, Mississippi, is in a rural, backwoods area of Mississippi. Pine trees…read moreand woods are mostly all you see as scenery traveling the highways getting here. Our destination was the Neshoba County Fair, a historic happening in Mississippi that I've heard about all my life but never attended. The fair has been going on since 1889 and features food, fair, entertainment, political speaking, friendly people and harness racing among other activities. When I was growing up, 60 years or so ago, harness racing was a local sport at the fairgrounds in Corinth, Mississippi. Over the years, it has become a rare event around the state and I came here mainly to refresh my memories. As you drive down the highways to Philadelphia, you suddenly do a double take by a most striking architectural sight which seems totally out of place. Shaped like a curving wave that rises to a peak of 20 stories or more with a globe 8 or 10 stories high dangling from the peak. The globe I finally figured out was symbolic of the moon but the overall structure is quite unusual and visually striking. Our reservations were at the Silverstar which is directly across the highway from the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino which is the structure I just described. The Silverstar is an almost identical sized casino and hotel but not as big or unusual. Both casinos are owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and an elevated walkway over the highway connects both of them. All of the land in central Mississippi was once part of the Choctaw Indian nation at the time the United States came into existence. The United States government eventually pressured the Choctaw Indians, over a period of years, to cede over 23 million acres of land to the Federal government. Most of the Choctaws were moved to Oklahoma, west of the Mississippi River, by the 1830's. A small group of Choctaws refused to move to Oklahoma and remained in Mississippi living on 35,000 acres of historic homelands held in trust for the Choctaws by the Federal government. Our visit here was primarily for accommodations. The hotel is very nice, rooms are large, beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are very nice. Everything was clean and first class. I would rate the hotel 4 stars by most any standard. Check in was smooth and staff were friendly. I spent a little time playing slots and my son walked to the Golden Moon and enjoyed the poker gaming. We enjoyed our visit and would return again.
