It's a Waffle House. You know what you are getting; cheap food at a cheap price. If you don't know what a Waffle House is; it's not for you.

The cashier asked if I wanted to place a tip on my card, and I declined. When I received the none itemized receipt, it was $12.79 more, than my tally. I requested an itemized bill and received one you could barely see because the numbers were faded. I asked the cashier to check my numbers against the bill. When doing so, she still couldn't justify the difference after taxes, and 3.5% card fee. Also, shw wasn't sure if taxes were 7.5% either, but after adding it all in, she took my numbers and began refunding me in cash, which isn't the principal or was it okay. I left without understanding why, and with a clear itemized receipt. Folks, PLEASE START USING CASH. Merchants are taking advantage of us by charging 3.5% on top of taxes, not mention tips. The monthly fees they are charged for using a credit card machine very low, so imagine the incentives they gain, on top of increasing cost. The short of the story. She tried overcharging me hoping I wouldn't notice, and then said, God bless you!‍ And our table of six still left a $20 tip. God don't like ugly.

You order at the counter, and the food is then delivered to your table. I ordered the two-egg breakfast plate with my eggs sunny-side up, with grits (hash browns were also an option) and sausage. I also ordered two buttermilk pancakes. The sunny-side-up eggs were perfectly cooked. I put one egg over the grits and the other on the pancakes, then broke the yolks -- it was delicious. The yolk mixed nicely with the perfectly made grits and fluffy pancakes. It is a small place and was crowded with regulars, which gave it a welcoming neighborhood feel. I am going back to try other plates -- I noticed several people ordering the catfish, and it looked excellent.

Nothing is made from scratch, in house and was all little to no flavor. Perhaps this is why salt shakers were the only seasoning on each table. No hot sauce, no hot peppered vinegar, not even black pepper. Just salt. Fried chicken was your standard Sysco/Bulk pre-breaded run of the mill, drop into fryer and keep hot variety. The mashed taters n gravy were instant and of the cheapest bulk commercial variety as well, and the Mac & cheese? I knew it when I saw it but it was the only other decent side available as my first pick of fried okra was not available. For $25 for two people, I'd hit a Bojangles or Popeyes instead of coming here and actually feel full. Darn shame as I'd had high expectations for this mom & pop place, and truly wanted a real-deal Southern soul food meal which this was absolutely not. Maybe their breakfast options are actually made in-house and better? They would need to do so AND be open by 5 AM if they want to profit rapidly and substantially on the ever-increasing commuter to and from Raleigh transplants because the supper choices? Definitely not Granville County's finest. I'd suggest the owners of The Wilton Grill go work for a week from open to close at Apple Market up near South Boston to see how breakfast, lunch and supper is done. I'll try breakfast if and when they are open for wee hours and the planets align, but I doubt I will come here again for lunch or supper unless there's some soul and seasoning slapped into and on the menu. This was on point with elementary school lunch foods. I will say the styrofoam plates and cups, plastic forks, cup lids and straws were clean. They do accept Apple and Google pay, they also give you the option to tip which, lol, I'm not sure what for. This place could be a gold mine in the right hands.

We had breakfast here with our baby and asked for a well-cooked scrambled egg for her. The waitress…read morebrought an egg that was still coated in raw egg all over, one of the runniest most undercooked eggs I've ever been served, no exaggeration. I asked if they could cook it more, which I never do, I never send things back bc I'm afraid of insulting the person's cooking skills who is handling my food. But this egg was still clucking. She took the plate, walked into the kitchen, we heard chopping sounds for 2 seconds and she brought it immediately back. She was gone with it for seriously under 30 seconds. She set it on the table and announced "I didn't want to turn it brown" and walked away. The egg was exactly the same doneness, but now chopped up. I don't know why I let this peer pressure make me second guess my judgment and intuition, but we were traveling due to a family tragedy and I was just tired and stressed and needed to feed my hungry baby. So I fed her the egg. Halfway through, my breakfast was brought to the table with a well-cooked egg on the plate, so I swapped hers for mine. I guess Border just feels really strongly that adults need fully cooked eggs and babies need raw ones. Later that night, my baby vomited. Then again. And again. She vomited 7 times all through the night. I vomited once. Diarrhea all day yesterday for both of us. We didn't get to go see our sick family member, for whom we flew across the country. It was just such a huge stroke of bad luck that I felt the need to share... I hate to ream a humble business, but serving a raw egg to somebody for a baby is not cool. Especially when they asked it well cooked. And then to refuse to cook it more when asked. By a mom who is trying to protect her baby. And to pretend they had cooked it more when they clearly hadn't. Please listen to mothers when we advocate for our children. We truly know best for them.
