At first when we passed Village Deli and Grill it looked like a place that would have sit down table service however when we got there we then learned it's a bit more casual, you order at the counter, they give you a buzzer and then you come pick up your food when it's ready. They have indoor & outdoor seating which is nice and a large menu which is also amazing. My husband isn't a "sandwich/deli" guy so I'm glad they have other things that he can eat as well! All of the food was good but let's get to the desserts.... To die for... honestly I am going to have to go get another slice of that lemon blueberry cake this week. They said that all of the desserts are made in house which is always great! For sure will be back to try more of the menu!

Food is fine however...service was horrible. Front girls treated us with no respect! When asked for a burger without all the fixings on it for my picky child we were met with the response "so what do you even want on it?" Unfortunately, we forgot to order one thing and had to relive the experience except this time we were blatantly ignored. My daughter was in line and was abandoned as soon as it was her turn to order, it took me walking over there for us to get a petty "someone will be with you shortly." [[HIGHLIGHT]]So sad such a cute and homey building is run by negligent and rude people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    No eggs and way overpriced

Haven't been here in a few years, now I remember why. They were very busy on a Sunday at 1:30 pm, however, after being in business for many years, you'd think the kinks would be worked out. Nope. Ordered a house salad with grilled chicken and asked if I could please add hard boiled eggs, was told sure, paid for eggs. Also ordered turkey sandwich with fries. Sat at a table and realize the employee never got our name, so had to stand in pick up line and wait (again) to add our name to our ticket... Sit down again, wait about 15 minutes, call our order. Food was subpar at best. They did not add the eggs to my salad (paid for them), my friend said her turkey sandwich was completely bland and none of it had flavor. Also, it's not very relaxing to be out dining with friends and constantly have peoples names screamed out - the atmosphere in here has changed in recent years. Did I mention these two lousy lunches totaled $33? Waste of money. Better salad at Zaxby's drive thru! Think we're done with Village Deli.

How could you not want one of these??

Outstanding Sunday special at Village Deli. Saw a promo online with this description: One buttery fluffy Belgian waffle is made fresh and topped with our all natural chicken that is fried to a golden brown crisp. Dusted with powdered sugar and served with a side of syrup. I mean... my mouth started watering before I finished the first sentence. And... It lived up to the description. Beautiful waffle, freshly made. Plump, moist, juicy chicken breast dredged in lightly spiced flour, deep fried crunchy brown. The perfect mid afternoon meal.

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the customer service service wasn't great and my order was inaccurate. I placed a to-go order online for lunch on a weekday since I was craving a sandwich. I parked out front and walked inside to retrieve my order. They have a sign indicating to pick up orders at the cash register. When I arrived there was no one at the cash register and a wall blocked the employees assembling meals from seeing me. They all seemed very busy so I waited for an employee to return to the register. Eventually an employee walked over and noticed me. I gave her my name and she handed me my order. When I got to work I realized I received the homemade chicken salad rather than the California chicken salad so it was missing the walnuts, apples, and cucumbers. Plus the bread wasn't toasted as requested. Not having the correct sandwich was disappointing especially since I paid $14 for it. The sandwich tasted okay and I enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, but at least it filled me up.

Our server, Dawn, was easily one best servers I've had in a long time. Knowledgeable about the menu, made a point to explain everything and no questions were too obscure. We had a variety of dishes, and out of everything the pork schnitzel wasn't really a schnitzel if you've ever had one in Germany, it was more like a breaded, fried bone-in pork chop, really good but not a traditional schnitzel. The asparagus, the risotto, the pasta, the chicken were all absolutely superior. The stars were the appetizers, especially the kung pao fried Brussels, those are a meal by themselves, some of the best I've ever had! The fried burrata cheese, worth the drive to Wake Forest. Their Cherry cobbler one word: YUM! The Farm Table is a roomy restaurant with tables well suited for family style dining and while a bit loud, certainly not uncomfortably so Totally recommended and thank me later for those Brussel Sprouts!

After a couple bites I gave up. When the server came by and offered me a different entree. She recommended the Lamb Kebobs. They were also dry and tasteless. Everyone else in our party had great meals. The braised Short Rib was the star of the night. I will have to give this place a second try and see if I have better luck.

After running errands, we drove just six minutes to El Chapin, a Guatemalan restaurant. Forget Tex-Mex--this is a completely different Latin cuisine experience. The two of us spent $76 (including tax and tip), but we intentionally ordered extra to take home leftovers. Parking was easy, right out front, and the restaurant itself is spacious. Since we arrived just a few minutes after opening, we had the place to ourselves at first and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and very helpful--the server even suggested we might have ordered too much food (he was right, but we didn't mind!). Here's what we tried: Plato Chorizo y Longaniza - a sausage platter with salad, rice, refried black beans, and two delicious housemade corn tortillas. Pollo Adobado - marinated chicken with rice, salad, refried black beans and two housemade corn tortillas . Ceviche de Camarón - fresh and tangy, though light on shrimp, which tasted a bit tough Fried Plantains - perfectly done, sweet, and satisfying. Plus, I had an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. The highlights for me were the flavorful rice (with vegetables mixed in, including carrots and squash), the marinated chicken, and the sausages. The plantains were also excellent. The ceviche had great flavor but could've used more shrimp. The only miss for me was the salad--generous in portion but iceberg-based, so a bit bland. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, not heavy or greasy, and we left with enough for another one or two meals. We'll definitely be back.

It is on the side closer to Capital Blvd., and there is plenty of parking. Usually, when I dine here, I can select my own seat, and they bring me a menu, but at busy times, they will seat me. You can enter from either side of the building, and one side has a ramp. I try to enter on the left side as I like to look at the daily specials. Over the years, I have gotten to sample quite a bit on the menu. The portions are always large and generous. My favorites are the eggs Benedict, the burgers and the fried fish. But I have enjoyed everything I've eaten here. Breakfast can be ordered all day here. The menu has Southern dishes and Dominican dishes, too. I am always warmly greeted when I enter, and service is friendly and attentive. I'm usually given a tea to go as well. The prices are quite reasonable.

Place wasn't very full but was clean and looked nice. Our server brought our menus and got our drinks, my boyfriend ordered us some Arepas and it came with 2 sauces one salsa verde and one mayo/ketchup mix. They had sandwiches and some Spanish Caribbean food. I decided to try something I have never had before and got the Ropa Vieja with black beans and tostones and He got the Cuban sandwich (with no mustard ) and maduros. It was delicious very flavorful food although my bf was like that would be good with white rice since Rooa vieja is stew like and so I ordered that as well and man....that was exactly what it needed (it should automatically come with it!) the meat was sooooo tender and juicy and delicious! Also I didn't realize what the tostones were so I ended up trading those for His maduros (which is what I thought I was ordering with the tostones...now I know better) The meat from his sandwich was also tender delicious well seasoned and make me jealous I didn't order it too! I had wings and a side salad which were both good, but not outstanding. The price of the side salad was rather expensive, in my opinion. My wife's Caesar salad with salmon was good as well, but again not that great. Apparently, they have a team approach to serving tables as we interacted with about 5 different servers which made things rather confusing and uneven. It would have been nice to know that's how they do the service experience up front. I think the primary factors in my rating are the price of the extra 2oz cup of Bleu Cheese dressing to take with my leftover wings and the 3% CC charge. If I knew the little cup of dressing was a dollar, I would not have taken it. Then there's the now ubiquitous 3% charge to use a credit card. I totally get that the card companies charge the fee and this is painted as 'transparency', but it just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe restauranteurs and other establishments that add the card fee could look at the sales with and without credit cards and just raise the menu prices by that percentage so it's not in people's faces. There's enough 'extra charges' in my life and it would be great to see one disappear.
