I had a very uncomfortable, & disturbing experience at this establishment and would not recommend it. After waiting approximately 45 minutes for my food, I was spoken to publicly and harshly by the woman owner regarding my clothing. I was wearing standard gym attire and was fully covered. I had removed my jacket because I was warm. There was no visible dress code posted, and I was unaware that my outfit would be considered inappropriate. The interaction was embarrassing and distressing, especially as it occurred in front of other customers. The tea I received was also room temperature and we were never checked on once, which added to the overall disappointment. If this business has a dress code, it should be clearly posted so customers can make informed decisions before ordering and waiting for service. No customer should be made to feel humiliated or upset due to unclear policies or the manner in which they are addressed. Avoid The Waffle Iron in Marianna at all costs. We walked into what looked like a cute spot, ordered tea (served disgustingly lukewarm--my wife's was straight-up cold), then waited 30-45 minutes for food with zero check-ins or hot water refills. When the server finally dropped the plates, she said NOTHING polite--no "enjoy," no smile. Instead, she immediately snapped at my wife: "You're going to need to put some clothes on," then doubled down: "I own this place--you need to cover up or get out." No dress code sign anywhere. My wife was in a standard gym outfit we wear everywhere without issue. The owner humiliated her in public, made her cry, and ruined our day in a town where we felt new and hopeful for a welcoming vibe. Zero stars if possible. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. I thought the customer service was fantastic.... at first. I ordered the trash plate which was hash browns with ham, bacon, veggies and cheese. It came with a biscuit and I asked for gravy on the side and a Pepsi. I asked to substitute ham and bacon on the hashbrowns with patty sausage. It came out quickly and it was delicious. On my ticket $3 was written beside patty sausage. When I went to pay I asked the lady if she charged me $3 for a patty sausage when I didn't get it extra, but I substituted. Because the $3 was beside the patty sausage it looked like I was charged extra for it. She says no that's for your Pepsi. (My Pepsi wasn't on the ticket at all) I replied "ok" and handed her my card. She then proceeded to read to me the rest of my ticket and the prices. I told her I just wasn't sure about the $3 because it was written beside the patty sausage. She then states "It's not a calculator. I'm only human." I was nothing short of polite as I asked, responded to, and accepted her explanation. Looking at the other reviews I believe every one of them. Even her replies to the 1 star reviews are snarky. I understand that people can get stressed and have a rough day causing them to not be as polite as they usually would, but it's obvious that this lady's rudness is a character trait she seems to be proud of. People were pleasant but....I visited with my wife who is visibly handicapped. She had her service dog with her which was wearing a service dog vest . We were confronted at the door and told they don't allow animals even service animals. Then says she can have local police come by to verify our dogs credentials. We could not simply show her as we have done numerous times elsewhere. We would have to wait outside for police to arrive and verify. How is this not discrimination. If this is a place you would like to patronize our seats will be open. I still feel they are violating ADA guidelines. I will not take time from law enforcement for this kind of crap. I don't want it on my conscience if police are delayed from a crime or an injured person to check my dogs credentials. read more

I came here while driving through surveying hurricane damage. They managed to stay open through it all and it was awesome to eat here. The staff is friendly and service was great. The food was ok, not the best but not the worst. You must try the Trash Plate. Hash brown yumminess. Was traveling through Marianna and wanted a 'real' restaurant/diner to eat at... This was the REAL thing! Home cooked biscuits, delicious hash browns with sauted tomato, and a delicious sausage (not to mention good eggs and coffee... and I'm a bit of a coffee snob.) We would recommend to anyone who, like us, is sick of 'chain' eating and also supports locally owned and run businesses. You can't go wrong, we think! If I could give it a zero Stars I would. Worst place to eat ever. As soon as I walked in the door the woman (for lack of a better word) was so rude cut me off in the middle of talking with the rude tone. I felt racism as soon as I walked in. There was definitely a difference in the way she was speaking to the white customers. The food was nasty and unseasoned. I asked for lemonade when I was leaving and it tasted like dish water. I politely asked if she could take it off the bill or she rolled her eyes and walked away. To my surprise this feral behavior was from the owner of the establishment. When I express to her how unsatisfied I was with the service she told me to get out and never come back. Is that how she treats all her customers that complain? I assure you if I was a different color that complaint wouldn't have even happened or would have been held to a different standard. And I know that this is what I experienced when I go to the reviews and other people have experienced racism in this establishment. She said all people are welcomed there and they are definitely not! There is no respect for the black dollar here. She attempted to cut me off in the middle of my complaint and I continue to tell her how I felt without cussing or yelling. And she continued to yell okay I'm outside took my tag number as if I was a criminal. She attempted to intimidate me using the police while she ran outside and followed me to my car and called me a bitch. I definitely got "Karened". We stopped at a referral from the cavern campground ranger. It was a neat little place with yellow tennis balls on all the chairs. Whimsical and functional. We were tired of chain resturants. This was open on a Sunday and we thought it would be a good experience. Sadly the food comes in small portions and overpriced. The summer salad was different but good, but short on lettuce. French toast, almost $7 it was good, but overpriced. The pancakes were small. I really would have wished it would have been better.
