As a first-time homebuyer with limited knowledge of homes, Ed saved me from buying a home that needed more significant repair than I would have been able to handle. Ed clearly takes pride in his work and in providing conscientious service all around, from the inspection, to the report, to the follow up. On the morning of the inspection, he was there early, assessing the exterior and taking pictures of the property. We hired Ed to inspect a condo we were interested in purchasing as first time homeowners. He responded immediately when I called for a quote, and sent over detailed information on services he provided, and what to expect. He was already there when we arrived for our appointment, and was inspecting the exterior. He took us around the property, inside and out, went over every detail, and gave us his opinion on things that were odd or out of the norm. He went up into the attic crawlspace, and gave us tips on how to make sure future repair people don't ruin the insulation. The inspection took about three hours, over which Ed answered any and every question we had. He was very understanding that we were first time buyers, and was happy to help us understand where everything was, what it did, and areas we needed to get more information from our seller. He was very clear, organized, and gave us a strong reality check re. what to expect and how to choose a home inspector. Over the years I've had numerous home inspections for houses I was looking at or buying. The results of a home inspection can be a deal breaker if they are bad. Wow! To say that Ed is good at his job is an understatement! Not only was he very professional, arriving early and getting right to work, but he kept us in the loop of what he was looking at. If there were 6 stars, I would give them. Ed was beyond knowledgeable, professional, and great. He was extremely thorough and informative and without him, we may have purchased a home that was more work than we were willing to take on. Once we had hit a point where we knew the house wasn't right for us, Ed was more than fair and only charged us a cancelation fee rather than the entire fee for a full inspection and written report. Ed taught us what to look out for while continuing our house search, so hopefully when we're ready to contact him again (and we certainly will!), he'll be inspecting a much more solid house for us.
