I would like to say that there are a few moments, with the exception of course of those trained personally by me . "Toot toot"(my horn)22 that's the sound of my despite common marketing and personal relations by telephone matters marketing and I had the pure delight of Shakynnah who returned my phone call after being disconnected from a less than ideal messaging service. Shakynnah was spirited, sweet and very personable, while also exuding a professional and polished vocal appearance, as it were, for Sherwood Inspection Services. Shakina unprompted did all 33 out of three of those magical things on the phone that make a potential customer choose you she was so gracious instead of telling me where you were located she asked about how we can get to you it's a subtle difference but it's profound and Effective in making a potential customer feel understood and also want to be taken care of as well she preempted getting my name and address by referencing the time spent talking (my fault my fault). I recognize that these seemingly small details end up being the difference between whether it's you who gets the business or a competitor. Staff office training I say " you need to assume and put yourself in the role of somebody who has thought of making this phone call for 18 months or so prior to making it whether or not that's true of course it's not in this particular industry but I can say that Shakynnah treated my call as it were. I just got a confirmation call- how great is that - serious, Robert the office manager, to answer and questions!! No I'm not saying it's cheap it's going to be 5 1/2 hundred dollars but I am informed that this report that is generated is a legal document that will be instrumental in going forward whether it be to repair and remediate and or to protect my self in my lease needs to have a safe place to live and breathe of course . Awful inspection and company. First time homeowner in 2020 and used them. They failed to catch many major problems, I only found out about after I bought the damn house. For one my entire attic was mold ridden and the whole roof had to be replaced. No mention by them that they don't notice any ventilation, which would be a major sign there was attic problems. Then they failed to pick up on the fact that there was no heat, in one of the bedrooms, even though he supposedly checked the vent. Also, there was a water spot above the downstairs bathroom and I specifically asked if that was from a water leak in the upstairs bathroom. I was told, no, no, just condensation buildup. What a lie. I had to have the whole plumbing redone up above and the ceiling replaced. This awful company ended up costing me over 10k in repairs, because they have no idea what they are doing. And I haven't found way to fix the no heat in the bedroom mess up, because I can't afford to have duct work run from downstairs and not having to rip up the whole bedroom. Please stay away from this company. They employ people with no clue what they are doing and excuses up the ass. read more

Absolutely horrible. Paid more money than other companies thinking you get what you pay for but not in this case. Every single "problem" they wrote in the report "beyond this inspectors scope to assess, get a certified (electrician, plumber, chimney, etc) to conduct inspection" So what did we pay for? Then we did get the "certified" inspectors and each found $2,000-$10,000 worth of fixes... AFTER we closed. But had the Sherwood inspector actually written the truth, we probably never would have bought the house. Also, paid extra for a "gas leak detection" test which allegedly came back negative, yet when the chimney inspector did his inspection he said there WAS IN FACT gas back flowing into the basement. Again, we would not have gone through with this sale if the Sherwood inspector actually was helpful. read more

Adam & Michelle did a home inspection on a potential property I was ready to purchase. They were extremely thorough, and very very helpful. They walked us through all the issues, in simple terms to be easily absorbed by someone who has no knowledge of home issues. For the amount we paid, I am extremely satisfied with the report, especially since the selling agent avoided a lot of the issues in the MLS report. He repeatedly asked me if I had questions, which I appreciated.  He genuinely seemed to want the best in terms of safety, comfort, and value for my family and me. He offered to respond to follow-up questions, which I plan to take him up on.  Highly recommended. I'm knocking this down a star. I asked for a printed copy of the inspection since I was moving and didn't have easy access to a printer. At over $800 for the inspection, I figured Sherwood could provide this. Terrible experience. After we closed on our house we called to get our oil tank filled to our surprise the tank needed to be replaced we had Sherwoods complete our home inspection and in the report they didnt mentioned any issue with the tank. So I called and spoke with Dave Sherwood and he told me we didn't pay for an oil tank inspection. And Insisted we get a second opinion from a company he recommended who also said the tank needed to be replaced. We then got an email from John Sheehan who stated they believe its leaking from the fuel line and sent a diagram. They refuse to help get the oil tank fixed with winter approaching fast I needed to have the tank replaced. I paid out of pocket and requested a small reimbursement which Dave has declined. read more

I had my inspection with Michelle yesterday. I have mixed emotions about the inspection. She's nice, answers questions, etc. My mom and sister were with me, which was helpful because my realtor doesn't ask a lot of questions and is quite timid. Michele looked through every aspect of the house, answered our questions, but there was one issue in particular, I definitely feel should be in the RED zone of her report. There were several lally poles supporting a beam in the basement. She said that at some point I should replace them because the nails that are in them could one day pop out, which would basically collapse and the support for that beam it's holding up would be gone. Even with her explaining that to us, she stated that in Sherwood reporting system, she can't mark it red, which I'm not sure how true that is. To me this is a structural issue and any issue that could potentially be structural damage or a collapse should be reported as RED. She disagreed. She stated that she will put it as an upgrade? Needing to replace poles that are holding up a support beam that could potentially collapse is not an upgrade in my opinion. That's something that should be replaced immediately. My family also was unclear and questioned that. There were a few other concerns I had, but that was the biggest one. Because I don't feel comfortable with her analysis, I will be hiring another inspector and/or structural engineer to take a look at the basement before moving forward with the house. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 8 am on a house i was viewing and they showed before i did! My inspector (Gary) had all the required equipment present and ready. I ordered a basic home inspection ($362) as well as a test kit for mold ($350 after $25 referral discount), totaling $687. I was pleasantly surprised when upon arrival Gary had already performed a mold spore sequestration for analysis on the outside air and was ready to move to the inside. Inside, he performed a visual inspection of the outside roof, interior ceiling, walls, chimney, fireplace, bathroom fan, floors, closets, cabinets and closets. He then performed a detailed hands on inspection of the GFCIs, breaker panel, dishwasher, water heater/tank, fire alarms, wash/dryer and hookups, disposal, water-pressure, flue operation, wall outlets, culminating with a mole spore sequestration for analysis on the inside air and a swab for mold of the window sills. He also pointed out the main water shut-off for me. He did not use any thermal imagery, or infrared cameras to determine what was going on behind the supporting walls nor did he use binoculars to inspect the roof or shingles, since we were unable able to gain access; therefore, I award 4/5 stars. I'm buying a small hose and needed an inspection right away. My realtor recommend Sherwood Inspection. The were able to schedule the inspection right away which was great. The inspector was going to be late and they called me to notify me which was actually better for me to have it a bit later that same day. When I arrived Maria Dudley was there waiting for me. I was happy to see her there on time. Before the realtor arrived we went over the outside of the building details in depth. Once the realtor arrived we went inside to go over the inside. She was very professional and extremely detail oriented. She knew exactly what to look at and why things were important that weren't right. She took her time and didn't rush. All the information she gave me was very helpful and accurate. She's very knowledgeable and skilled at her job. I'd hire her again in a minute! If I could rate them 6 stars, I would. Our inspector, Frank, spent all the time we needed him to take not only inspecting the house, but also teaching us how to use the furnace, explaining how the AC works and introducing us to the (very new to us) well water. The inspection took a good 4.5 hours and a couple of very important issues were brought up. I am thankful we hired them, and I think you can't get any better. I thought I had a positive experience with this inspection service, but I realized I had been set up. The service person had me do a review immediately after inspection and I wouldn't be any wiser that a few months later I would find multiple gas leaks, 2 HVAC issues and not even one working smoke detector or fire alarm.
