The sides were my fav- we tried green beans(amazing), pinto beans, Cole slaw, Mac salad, and the corn. Ladonna bakes her own bread daily too. We got a tour of the pit from Kirby. Stumbled upon Wagon Wheel BBQ and was happily greeted by some 5 star service and some great Texas BBQ! Such a pleasant surprise for us road trippers and/or musicians traveling to Austin for SXSW from the west coast. Brisket sandwich w/ fresh brewed iced tea and chips for 6 bucks. Delicious! Don't let the outside fool ya, inside the food is hot and delicious! We were led here by fellow "Yelpers" and it did not disappoint! We each ordered a different meat plate (brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken), and no meat was left behind! All were smokey (but not overly), tender, and perfectly done. The BBQ sauce choices were good, and the potato salad was fresh and tasty. The coleslaw was fresh but needed a bit more dressing for flavor. The peach cobbler?! Bomb!! So yummy, homemade, and a great way to finish the meal without being too heavy. The drinks and cobbler were included with the meal, as well as a slice of soft bread if you want to make a sandwich out of your meal. There are only a couple of tables, but it's well worth the wait! Wolf Cop is gonna be honest. I love BBQ and eating the three little piggies and other animals, but when I visited the Wagon Wheel in Ozona, TX, it was amazing. I ordered the two meat plate but the owner offered me an extra meat making it a three meat platter to experience it all. Wolf cop liked this! Ok. On a road trip from southern California to Texas......so in the middle of cowboy country we come to a small town, Ozana with some of the best tasting smoked brisket I have eaten. We walk in, the tables are mismatched and a bit funky. The owners are delightful and are more than willing to talk about their restaurant and food. The brisket was tender, moist, tastie and perfectly smoked. The ribs were equally delicious, not too smokey but just right. Ok, so I used to make my own smoked pulled pork regularly. I also used to eat meat regularly. This place is just on the south side of the interstate in an old gas station. Parking is funky, seating is around a couple of fold out plastic tables. The portions are large, the prices are low, you can bring your own beverages in, the homemade bread is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the bit of brisket I tried was the best I've ever had. read more

Worth the drive off the freeway for this awesome stop! Family owned and run as it should be! It truly is a "reformed" gas station and it found it's calling with the smoker out back. Complete plates with pie and truly genuine service. No alcohol but sweet tea for days. You will be glad you stopped. But tip from the owner, make sure you have plenty of gas (especially if you're passing through from Austin to San Diego) because the next gas station was some 90 I think miles away. read more

Stopped in ozona for the night on our way through Texas and decided to look on yelp for some good food. It seems like the only other options are sonic or Dairy Queen. We were happy we chose this place. It is hard to find so keep on eye out for fierro grocer. The brisket was tender and delicious but the pinto beans could've used some seasoning. Ribs were good too and the cobbler was the perfect ending to the meal. The atmosphere felt like you went into a family home and they served you dinner. The family that owns the place was sitting and eating at the next table over. Meals come with iced tea but you can also purchase sodas or bring your own drinks. Another great yelp find! Driving cross 10, you see lots of trucks, pavement, and fast food places. What you don't see are that many great local places. Well, if you're ready for some BBQ, and can get past the looks of this place, it's well worth a pit stop. It's not the best looking place, but man was the food fantastic. Located off the 10, this was a great find thanks to Yelp! You won't see it from the freeway, hell its hard to find even from the street it's next to (it looks like an abandoned gas station) but the food is worth the stop! Had a small brisket combo with potato salad and coleslaw and was surprised to get some homemade lemonade and a delicious cobbler as free additions. The brisket was cooked just how I like it, tender and juicy and the sides were great (liked the potato salad a little more). The cobbler was the topper to an excellent meal. read more

I didn't understand Texas BBQ before eating here. Growing up in Georgia bbq has always meant pork. When I moved to Texas all I could get was brisket...and where is all the sauce?? Then I came here and the owner asked me the following question: Lean or juicy or inbetween? You mean I have a choice?!? Brisket isn't always dry and stringy!? Juicy it was. And it was grand. I can't say enough about the flavor! The fat was melted into the meat. They have chopped or sliced brisket. We got the sliced brisket sandwich and we devoured it! The bun was soft. The sandwich didn't need the BBQ sauce but it was delicious with it and without. The man that served us was super friendly and said,"i want to make sure you have a pleasurable experience." He said they r dog friendly but can put the dog away if we wanted. We had our dogs and he told us about a nice park where we could let them run around.
